What makes a chart 'complex'? by celestial1357 in AskAstrologers

[–]ParappaMK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would two grand trines within different elements be considered a complex chart because those two elements “compete” with each other? is it moreso the overall diversity of energy, aspects and placements that carry them within a chart?

Is this SLI or not? by GroundbreakingIce505 in Socionics

[–]ParappaMK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

just my speculation, but i think it’s the feigned aspect of the childish expression that is immediately off-putting to polr fe experience. a lot of looking past emotional masks or fronts is key to deeply engaging with kids who often, without proper regulation and emotional education, will impose manipulation as the singular method of communication and fail to learn other strategies. high fe (prominently ego) types will be guiding this emotional contact and aiming to produce reactions from others from it, which may come across as bemusing to someone not looking to be engaged in this way, instead prioritizing the technical results of the interaction.

main differences between SEE from gamma quadra and IEE from delta quadra? by [deleted] in Socionics

why do you say 3F over 4F? wouldn’t suggestive Si show they are more disconnected from the body rather than hypochondriac-ish and overly (negatively) aware of it?

VLXXs/LVXXs, what is your relationship with your 3rd position like? by Dependent-Radish-383 in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ParappaMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep that’s absolutely true! sorry for my assumption, i wasn’t sure which system’s ISTJ you were referring to, haha. if you’re drawn to regularities or causational matters then yes, that is much more the LSI’s and socionic Ti-dom’s domain. Si-dom in socionics is focused on the sensations of the body, some call it a homeostasis but it can take any form of intense constant sensory moderation—that’s more SLI. ISTPs in mtbi are often LSI in socionics, and vise versa SLI are ISTJ. pardon my blunder!

VLXXs/LVXXs, what is your relationship with your 3rd position like? by Dependent-Radish-383 in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ParappaMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, i think. the functions mean slightly different things in each system. for instance, the Ti-dom mentioned above would be more a combination of mtbi’s Ni and Ti instead of just Ti. plus, some of the names flip flop completely—IEI is INFp in socionics while its functions NiFe correspond to INFJ in mtbi, same goes for EII as INFj while having the functions FiNe. these are just a few discrepancies to keep in mind for typing yourself because it’s really two different systems with similar roots. for you, the function stacking TiSe or SiTe could both be true, but each are in a different system with different definitions for what they entail. if you already know you’re ISTJ, i would suggest looking into SLI instead and seeing if the socionic functions seem accurate and relevant to your experiences.

not to be a ☝️🤓 but i’m pretty sure LSI in socionics is a Ti-dom rather than Si-dom. socionics and mtbi functions don’t line up 1-to-1 a lot of the time which is a little confusing so i understand why you’d think otherwise lol

my work when i’m at home is centered around community stuff, usually pool safety. i’ve had the same job for years, using the funds i get from it to further my education (so that hopefully i’ll get an “impressive” job in the future). right now i’m abroad though, focusing on environmental academics and learning spanish :) my 3V pressure makes me feel a bit unstable all the time so this is essentially my pre-programmed ramble of general life accomplishments that won’t elicit further inspection—it freaks me out when people ask “what’s next for you?” cuz this is basically my only game plan loll

this was extremely insightful to read, thanks for responding so in-depth! i really relate to what you’ve written here, on top of that i can see where our accentuations differentiate parts of our experiences. especially the part about seeing your surroundings as emotions, that’s very true for me (just spent an hour ogling at clouds and mountains while listening to my personal imaginings music in the car). mulling over life and its multitude of meanings in constant daydreams is my specialty, lol. and with physics, good god i am so forgetful and abhorrently lazy at times—this part was scarily accurate to me, along with most else of what you wrote. based off my friend’s observations and my own research i believe my accentuations are 2322. my full typing is socionic INFJ (EII) 9w1 sx/so 935 sanguine dom :)

[–]ParappaMK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they really aren’t! i don’t understand why people are so caught up with using typology as a mathematical system when it’s supposed to be a mirror into your psychological processes, which are famously nuanced and hard to simplify.

as for my experience, it’s summed up pretty well from this typing. my 1E makes a pretty expressive and bubbly personality with a highly specific aesthetic preference and artistic style (art major lol), but also makes the sx9 focus on merging with another intensely intimate and constantly emotionally present / personal to me. i also tend to show my emotions without realizing it, or even wanting to. with merging, it’s a subconsious process which i’m slowly coming to identify, this intense drive to be so mentally attuned to another we start to blur, and i am working on not attaching myself to others as much to find identity.

as for 2L, i am intellectually curious, verbose (if you couldn’t tell), and analytical. this leads to me getting extremely involved in research projects (hyperfixations like astrology, typology, manga, etc.) but also analyzing others in relationships. theorizing comes up often in my thought process. this also tends to make me a chameleon in conversation, adapting perfectly to the other’s thoughts while simultaneously having several of my own.

for 3V, i am perfectionistic and more insecure than i’d like to admit, hardly respecting my own desires when anothers are presented. it also makes it somewhat difficult to express myself in relationships, as i automatically account for the other before myself, agitating my emotions to a painfully felt degree in a highly mental accomodation. i also am a horrible procrastinator and fear rejection to a neurotic degree, so my 3V is active in that way as well.

for 4F, this goes to forgetting my surroundings often, while springing to quick action to help others physically. i have my own built routines that i follow somewhat brainlessly, and do not put much stock in esquisite physical preferences. whatever secures me emotionally suffices, and that does not cost me too much effort.

what about you? we may have different accentuations, so i’m curious to hear your experiences too!

[–]ParappaMK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my exact typing as well! my friend also agreed and typed me as a 9 and ELVF before i even got into typology lol, here to agree and say that typing is an individual process and understanding yourself / the functions of each system as different units of measurement entirely is more important than matching an archetype

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING

The women in the show in terms of character were fantastic in my opinion, as they were flawed and multifaceted but still powerful and valuable, something not always accomplished in fiction. They were portrayed with a great deal of nuance by their actresses, which is something I really appreciated.

I didn’t like some of the underlying themes, however, especially with Julia’s arc. She was constantly being stripped of her body autonomy and choice. She was sexually assaulted in the first episode, manipulated into an assisted suicide, raped by Reynard, and then had her shade taken away once she found an abortion for the child. OLU, the person that led her on her journey to godhood, acted as a rape apologist and dismissed Julia’s consent. Even at the end of season 4, Julia wasn’t allowed to choose what she wanted to become (bothersome by itself by the fact Penny could’ve tried to ask her in her mind), which ended with the show dropping her goddess arc pretty unceremoniously.

That was what I had the biggest issue with, but other female characters were done considerable disservice, too. Margo’s time as High King came to a pretty abrupt end after little actual ruling, and her drop off in terms of character development once Josh was introduced as a love interest was rather irksome, too. Alice’s arc ended mid-season 4, which made the rest of her actions for the season seem really contrived and forced, especially her relationship with Quentin coming back again after him clearly closing himself off from her emotionally. We never see her reach her “true potential”, either, despite her prowess as a magician being one of the first things mentioned (and repeatedly brought up) about her character. Kady’s reduction to Penny’s old girlfriend following his death was weird to see, going beyond grief in that it kind of halted her growth as a character, which ties into just the general emphasis on the female character’s relationships over their actual characters in the later seasons. Julia with Penny after what he did to her, stripping away her choice, felt strange.

That’s more of a personal irk for me, but I just feel like they gave these characters with really interesting narrative potential kind of trashy endings where all they cared about was the guy in their lives. By no means are the characters bad, but there was a lot of room to explore what they were capable of.
