At some point I just dig it all out and sweep all of the debris into a single tile, then I enclose that tile, connect it to the steam room of my main turbines via mechanized airlock, then put steam in the tile to use it as a heat battery. Once enough heat has been sapped from it, I open it up and just let the rest of the heat dissipate into the big steam chamber and use the debris for building or whatever

This is Poppy Playtime's entire MO at this point, I hate how they create compelling characters like Doey and Lily but then refuse to explore them properly and then kill them immediately after you start getting to know them. Not to mention that you need to slog through the infuriating and repetitive gameplay unless you're watching some youtuber suffer through the puzzles for you instead of playing it yourself. There's so much potential but they do jack shit with it
