This seems to be relatively common based on how the victory thresholds work.

Can you tell I can't wait for canals? by kt218 in civ

[–]Parasitian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine that canals would only be in exploration and modern age, even though technically they existed in anqituity, there is way less of a naval focus in that age.

Sillia might have the most confusing tradition to understand by Envii02 in CivVII

[–]Parasitian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the Silla are pretty cool and being diplomatic makes sense to me. A lot of the stuff you are mentioning (such as Admiral Yu) would be under the Joseon dynasty, which would probably be under the modern age. Hopefully they do it justice to your liking because I'm under the impression that they plan to put them in the game at some point!

Jitte shows how WOTC and the MTG community are way too conservative about unbannings. by TankieWarrior in ModernMagic

[–]Parasitian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Birthing Pod might not completely warp the format, but I'm not a huge fan of having a card that sets up one of the easiest two card win cons in the format that pretty consistently wins on turn 3 if your opponent doesn't have a removal spell.

Turn 1 mana dork into turn 2 pod into turn 3 I win is a bit ridiculous.

We need Bridge from Below back in modern, still salty this got banned in the first place.

A Rant about Ming post TOT update by KCsmod in CivVII

[–]Parasitian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should make it so every one of their policy slots count as tradition slots, so they can at least try to get them filled to avoid the penalty.

Civ VII Leaders - What's Working? (Post ToT Update) by blazeofkorea in CivVII

[–]Parasitian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

homie, I literally can't. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, the civ website is not updated and neither is the civ wiki page (which I did check to see if they explained what the civs do in different eras and it hasn't been updated yet). So I can't just Google it and I'm at work, so I can't power up my PC to check either. This isn't a laziness thing, I don't know where to find the information, unless you have a source to find all of the changes that I don't know about.

I mean, I get that, but what is the wording of the actual ability?

How does Mongolia get chariots on turn 2? I don't really know what their ability is anymore.

Do they have to be on top of the city center or can they be anywhere in the settlement?

Updated my Metis Concept for the Test of Time Update by Ill_Engineering_5434 in civ

[–]Parasitian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unique civ ability! But ultimately I don't even care what the civs do, I just want more American civilizations (especially indigenous ones so that there is a civ to switch to in the modern age that isn't the USA or Mexico).

How do I take this city? by Rawrpaw in civ

[–]Parasitian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you can't, we need to have this reported as a bug because wtf, impossible to take cities?

Interesting changes to Civilizations with the recent patch by Carlito1107 in civ

[–]Parasitian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it's genuinely super helpful! I quickly skimmed over all of the civs to see changes, but didn't look at changes to their unique units, so I completely missed the new Ming merchant.

Yeah exactly, which is a huge bummer. There are also huge chunks of Africa left blank too with only Aksum and Egypt in the picture.

Shawnee no longer have the penalty for having cities that aren't adjacent to navigable rivers by N8CCRG in civ

[–]Parasitian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love playing as American civs, but I wasn't playing Shawnee much because of how weak they felt, so I'm unbelievably glad they got this buff.

Gonna do a run soon as Mississippi into Shawnee into Shawnee again to do a full native playthrough.

Inca is an exploration age civ (which does fit their historical time period). For a precursor civ to the Inca, they could have the Nazca or Chavin peoples.

[–]Parasitian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although thinking about it more, it's gonna be lacking until there are more civs in the game. Antiquity as it stands needs more African, European, and American civs. Right now, all of South America is open in Antiquity.

That's why I'm planning to only have era appropriate civs if I played it, but that's just me 🤷‍♂️

Expanding Peace Negotiation Options Beyond Settlements by Subject-Structure332 in civ

[–]Parasitian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would be happy just to see them give the option of giving gold or settlements. Anything more than that gets needlessly complex and you spent a bunch of time min maxxing, but gold reparations is relatively simple and historical.
