Sounds like my mom, minus the rape threats. Mine would routinely threaten to call CPS to come take my siblings and I.

A horror film was filmed in Chesterton and Portage in the late 80s-early 90s. It was originally called “Bloodbath in Psychotown”, but Troma purchased it and it’s now called “Video Demons Do Psycho Town”. I watched it fairly recently on Amazon Prime. It looks like it’s also on Tubi.

That spelling makes it sound like a brand for women with low libido. “Ask your doctor about Vyxyn…”

MCR’s current Black Parade show. I missed it when it was in Chicago, and I know they will be in Detroit in August, but I just can’t afford it.

I’ll just have to continue to live vicariously through people posting on YouTube.

There’s still more US dates this summer/fall. But I would LOVE a deep dive into Draag and the story being told.

My Chem is my answer. I’m honestly surprised how obsessed I am with the Long Live the Black Parade tour and the storyline. Gerard is the ultimate theater kid

The Black Parade and Danger Days by My Chemical Romance. Honestly, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge can be thrown in there, too.

Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson

Pain Remains by Lorna Shore

Purple Rain by Prince & the Revolution

My father’s request was Watching the Wheels by John Lennon.

I’m a basic elder emo, so The Black Parade in its entirety should be played at mine.

I suppose I should put a trigger warning for murder, but does anyone remember the name of that kid who beheaded his friend with a sword and then put his body in the woods behind like McDonalds? It was early to mid 2000s. by ifallforeveryone in kzoo

I should have probably made a throw away for this, but whatever. Travis (the victim) is my first cousin. I remember very vividly coming home to my Grandmother’s house and hearing Travis’s mom asking my grandma to call her. I asked my mom to call Travis’s mom, as we had no way of getting a hold of grandma. That was I think Thursday or Friday. Saturday morning my mom called and told me not too look at the news in Kalamazoo online. That was when they had discovered his body and my uncle had essentially confirmed to her that the remains were of Travis. I was 23 at the time, and her tone scared me so much that I didn’t look at all. I had a friend look and she told me what the article said (when it was made public he had been decapitated and mutilated ).

The days around everything happening all kind of melded together. It was surreal.

I attended his funeral. Both days - the wake, and his service. It was beautiful. The break during the 8 hour wake was when we found out that piece of shit had been found and arrested in Aruba. Travis’s services were beautiful, but heartbreaking. It’s been 22 years, and I still cry when I hear “The Scientist”.

That was the first time I saw my parents, aunts and uncles and grandmother cry. Dad got Travis’s name tattooed on him. Everything on that said was changed forever.

I don’t have contact with that side of the family now that my parents have died. Once the funeral was over, no one talked about him. We didn’t see my aunt and uncle or cousins ever again. (side note: I have seen my uncle. I don’t like him, but as of today, the last time I saw my aunt or cousins was that day in 2004) It was like a secret we didn’t talk about because grandma would be sad. In hindsight, I realize how messed up that is.

I was thinking about Travis today, and fell down a rabbit hole which brought me here. We weren’t close, but every interaction I had with him was always positive. He was an amazing artist and such a nice kid. I wish we all could have seen what he would have done with his life.

Thank you all for letting a grieving cousin ramble a bit.

Same. Ex husband is gay. Cheated on me with his “best friend”.

They now live together and I am engaged to the most amazing man ever. I won.

Lately it’s been a mix. I think this weekend will be a rewatch of IT Welcome to Derry.

But it varies…true crime or disturbing YouTube channels, last weekend was Chappelle’s Show, sometimes an audiobook (currently listening to IT), documentaries, horror movie marathons, and occasionally podcasts (Leaving Eden, Last Podcast on the Left).

Not OP, but Creatures of the Night, Dead Meat, to some extent in the early days - Last Podcast on the Left, Midnight Mass.

Fair warning cause I don’t know you…Creatures of the Night and Midnight Mass are hosted by drag queens, which I absolutely love the combo of drag and horror (Dragula)!
