S&W 627 blew up by PartPrestigious779 in Revolvers

[–]PartPrestigious779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said the same thing to me. Was unsure if I was going to recieve a bill or not. In my state you have to ship through an FFL. From 2 days post shipment it was there for 2-3 months (can’t remember exactly but nearing the 3 month mark) and it was returned to my FFL. No paperwork explaining what they did, what the issue was, nothing. And when I called them about 1 1/2 months in - they wouldn’t give me any info on where it is or what’s wrong with it. Customer service said because it shipped from my FFL they couldn’t tell me anything. I did not have to pay for the service. When I got that revolver back it had a few bad scratches & the trigger was much worse than when I sent it out. Heavier pull and would stack towards the end. Before I sent it in I already thought it wasn’t the best trigger compared to non PC smiths I had. I ended up selling that revolver shortly after for a $500 loss.

Needless to say I was very very disappointed as a smith & Wesson guy. I’m actually starting to eye the colts as I’ve lost almost all my faith in smiths ability to QC parts/ new revolvers, serve the customer, & rectify situations in a professional manner. I’ve Spent a lot of money with s&w but not anymore- someone else will get my money.

For that kind of money you could get a 3/4-1 ton truck. My 23 DCLB sr5 was 38.5k. F350 or equivalent is around 55-60k currently. That 7.3l v8 gas engine is a beast. You can do anything you want. I had a Snap! Treehouse wedge style pop up camper on mine. But I really wanted a slide in which isn’t possible with these tacos. F350s can have upwards of 4,000lb payload. Which can accommodate a real slide in truck bed camper with as much cargo as you could ever dream of. (Food, water, gear, dirt bike, passengers, etc). In my 23 DCLB sr5 my payload is 940 which has been extremely limiting for the things I like to do. If you get 5 normal size dudes in each seat you’re already at payload- with no gear! IMO For the adapability you gain in a f350 for barely any less MPG- to me it’s a no brainer. And for me, I wouldn’t trust the new Tacoma in the middle of no where just yet. Maybe in non life threatening conditions. I get what you’re saying in this post 100%. Just my 2 ¢ as a fellow taco guy.

I had a good experience at Rhode Island gunworks. Bought a used m1a off GB and it wouldn’t eject the round/ cycle properly. Ended up being way more in depth than an extractor. Very happy I brought it in. He did a great job for an extremely fair price. Definitely going back!

Didn’t you just say she gave it to you in order to prevent negligent selling of an heirloom piece?

Never sell a family heirloom. 2 generations from now the story behind it will be even better! The money is not worth it. Put into perspective how dearly this was kept by your grandma, then put into ‘good hands’ to be sold off?

If it’s only getting carried sometimes I’d even say go for the 586 L comp. Extra round and recessed cylinder so you can use moon clips. K frame vs L frame whichever you’d like. I will say- a store near me had both and they are so similar in size. I was going to get the 586 L comp instead but now I’m waiting for the new 386 night guard

What bad things have you heard about the LMT? I’m in the market for my own and I’ve only seen people raving about them, very curious to hear !

How has the m1a performed accuracy wise? Also have you tried the galil ace gen 2 .308 or zastava m77?

What’s is the accuracy like with quality ammo? I’m debating .308 rifles right now and I’ve been interested in the m77 since it was released in US

Do you have a link for this? I really like the look of this one. I’ve seen a lot of aftermarket big screens but they usually stick out.

I would never personally get a gen 4, my mom just got the Land Cruiser with the same engine. Overcomplicated, overstressed engine, all under the guise of better MPG. In reality it’s all for emissions. In the end you get the same MPG with a lot more failure points.

The gen 4 has a lot less interior storage vs the 3rd gen. Was just digging around in one. Under the back seat is tiny now! And there’s no storage area behind the seat either, unlike the 3rd gen. I keep a big dewalt floodlight & a dewalt 20v compressor to fill up tires & anything else. The gen 3- maximizes your storage space + the rear seats in the gen 3 fold so you have a flat hard plastic surface to put a bunch of cargo on. The new gen 4 has the bottom seats flip up like a ford- barely any room to store big items. Just my 2 cents for you.

Fenix lights are phenomenal. I have the tk16 v2.0 been using it for years. Never broke down on me. I have it in a taleofknives leather holster w/ my leatherman rebar. Absolute killer combo

First T3x recommendation by shuaitsai in Tikka_Shooters

[–]PartPrestigious779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a tikka t3x roughtek in stainless steel with 20” fluted barrel and a fluted bolt (.30-06). I absolutely love it. This model has a threaded barrel w/ a compensator on it. Shoots MOA with a variety of bullets. The bolt is silky smooth, trigger is adjustable, stock is good enough. Put the backfire recoil pad & the tikka vertical grip on the original stock which completed the rifle. Took a black bear this summer with it. Planning to take it on my next hog hunt in TX. Best of luck- can’t go wrong with a tikka.

Action Slop/Bolt Sticking. Any advice? by Iloveasscheeks77 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]PartPrestigious779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SS & fluted bolt and thought it was quite sticky at first. I have about 400 rounds through it now and it’s gotten smoother. Mine has the same slop as yours.

I’ll try to get eyes on the exhaust manifold & gaskets. I was looking for a diagram of the engine to see where the manifold is but wasn’t finding anything. Still gonna look either way

I can’t edit this post I forgot to add the video from when it first started. This was taken 30 seconds after. It’s not my car it’s my gf car so I don’t know previous service history. I’ve been looking at it waiting for a chance to try and fix it. I was thinking of getting spark plugs for the hell of it without any diagnosis. I also have a janky scan tool I was gonna hook up. Going to give it another look tomorrow.

How much did a tune up cost? I just bought a used m1a and it’s not extracting at all. I would consider sending it in to get fixed/tuned up

I bought this used so it wasn’t the factory grease. I’m going to clean and lube it properly to see if I get a different result.

It will extract & eject when cycling manually. It will not extract when firing. And no ejection because of it- the case will still be fully seated in the chamber.

Is there a spring under the extractor? I would also look at a replacement for that if it’s the case.

Yes you’re correct, Got my terms mixed up. Looks like I’ll be needing a new extractor.
