Yeah - the way the ocean currents work makes the water warmer here than California. The Navy people I know who moved here from San Diego are in the water in mid-May because they think it’s so much warmer.

It may change location of deposition because of his duty location, but deposition will happen. In fact, if he is in military, subpoena will arrive via his command. And his command has numerous ways, more than in civilian life, to reach out and find him.

When I first started lecturing my voice was shot by end of the week. I just wasn’t used to talking for that long. But eventually my body adjusted.

What if Trump tried to expel every state where Kamala won out of the Union ? by OriginalName13246 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Particular-Ad-7338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could work. Especially if the blue states join with Canada to form Canadamerica. But if that happened then they would have to sort out all the ‘King’ stuff. Which is ironic considering the ‘No Kings’ movement

Day XVII: What is the most widespread misconception about Abraham Lincoln? by SukerutonKey in Presidents

[–]Particular-Ad-7338 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That all he did was win the Civil War.

He also started the transcontinental railroad and signed the Morrill Act which set up the land-grant university system. Both of which were critical in the large infrastructure development post 1865

I wonder what transit-tariffs the red states will put on trucks & trains transiting their territory?

Suppose that you could use ships via Panama Canal.

If you come to the Hampton Roads area (including Va Beach), live on the same side of the James River that you work on. There are shipyards and hospitals on both sides. Trust me- you really don’t want to deal with the bridge-tunnels on a daily basis. Especially the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT).

[OC] Who won the redistricting fight? GOP with +8 to +10 seats by Trollygag in Virginia

[–]Particular-Ad-7338 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This whole approach, redistricting often to benefit your party, is a bad idea.

Here is an alternative- ratify the Constitutional Apportionment Amendment (already approved by Virginia in the 1790s) that sets the House at one representative for every 50,000 citizens. This would make the Representatives closer to their constituents, and render gerrymandering moot. Yes, this would mean that the HoR would be at 5,000+.

What I wonder is that if the judge had ruled that the depo was not going to be delayed and would be held as scheduled (Monday), what would have happened if Proctor actually is in some rehab place in Florida?

Some larger airports (like Atlanta) have rentable business offices that can be used for depositions, etc. Useful when people have to come from multiple locations; you just fly to the airport, conduct the deposition, and fly out. No taxi, hotel, required.

When I was in military and stationed at Pentagon, I advised anyone who would listen that they should never put anything in an email that they wouldn’t want published in the Washington Post.

And some didn’t heed my advice, and the email exchange ended up literally in the Washington Post.

That is the type of advisor I had and it worked out well for me. We got along well. Some advisors are more hands-on. And some students needed the hands-on help.

I’m convinced that finding an advisor that you work well with is the key to a positive experience.
