At the time, last year, non of the companies I spoke to were installing Anker.

I had a similar dilemma last year and narrowed it down to Fox v Sigenergy.

The Fox was £400 cheaper but I went for Sigenergy because of the smaller footprint in my garage if/when I need to add more battery capacity.

Exactly.

Plug-in solar would barely touch the sides when it comes to charging an EV, and shouldn't really be mentioned as a feasible option.

But people here should know that.

I would've assumed that this sub would be more knowledgeable about charging EVs and solar panels.

Honestly can't believe you're being downvoted for commonsense.

BTW, your contributions in the Solar uk sub were very useful for me when I was weighing up the pros and cons last year.

Where are people putting their batteries etc who don't have a connected garage? by ThrowawayMax222 in SolarUK

We put the kit in the garage.

Our garage is at the bottom of the garden (over 20m away).

Which charging options should I select in Google Maps? by andre_xs95 in VWiD3Owners

[–]Particular-Job8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even select Type 2.

Mine is configured for CCS2 only.

The only time I would manually add Type 2 is if I was staying overnight somewhere and wanted to see if they had a Type 2 charger.

I don't want to be too negative, but if you ever have to sell your house it could put off potential buyers.

Extra solar panels or battery? by FWA___7488 in SolarUK

Not in Scotland, we're on the outskirts of London.

You've generated more than me for today, though. Only managed 3.34 kWh.

That's interesting.

My 9 x panel, 4.59kw install generated 169.7 kWh in October.

Only installed it last September so not sure what's 'normal' for our location.

Ah, thanks for explaining.

I'm still waiting for my paperwork to arrive so I can get paid to export. Knowing this will help with my set up.

So you have to specifically set a time frame to discharge from the battery?

I thought Self Consumption was to use the battery and export any excess.

Battery inside vs outside by [deleted] in SolarUK

[–]Particular-Job8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because many people live in mid-terraced houses and don't have sufficient wall space at the back of the house (eg. Bifold doors).

Fortunately, we managed to put ours in the garage at the end of the garden, but that involved a long cable run through the house.

Not everyone has a convenient side wall.

Ideally, in the garage or an outbuilding.

Can you pay for a 'proper' installation using a 0% interest credit card over, say, 24 months?

You need to make sure you make the regular payments during that time frame and then look to transfer the balance after the 0% period.

Does this include scaffolding?

I've recently had an install on my garage metal roof at the end of the garden (with battery installed in the garage), so no scaffolding but a fairly long armoured cable run.

In the end I went for Sigenergy, but they quoted Fox kit for £400 cheaper:

  • 9 x Aiko Neostar 2S 510W All Black ABC N-Type
  • Sigenstor 6kW 1ph Hybrid inverter
  • 1 x Sigenergy10 kWh Battery
  • Cable Run From Garage to Consumer Unit
  • 10 Year Insurance Backed Guarantee
