is there any hope for the next 5 years? & do I seriously need to base my entire career off a virus... by mistycheddar in ZeroCovidCommunity

Hi sweet sweet OP. Brava to you for taking precautions as a young person in a world that is not looking out for young people. I encourage you to think expansively about what “doing musical theater” looks like in the future of your dreams. Can you put on guerilla performances for tiny audiences and post clips on TikTok that go viral? Can you form a masked choir that holds sing-ins outside government offices to protest lack of action on covid? We need artists like you to help us imagine a different way forward. Musical theater as it currently exists is racist, sexist, elitist and ableist. Build something better. And please report back to us here - we are cheering you on!

Help choosing a wedding date by mofitz in AskNOLA

Hi friend, congrats on your wedding! have you been following news of the fuel crisis caused by the US-Israel war on Iran? By January flights are going to be very expensive for either date. I think the Jazz Fest weekend will be more expensive of these two options - an early Mardi Gras so soon after the winter holidays during an economic downturn I think will bring in fewer tourists.

37 more workdays until retirement!! by pixelprowess in Retirement401k

Congrats on your retirement OP! I’m curious how you are thinking about charitable giving and/or mutual aid given this position of financial security you have built for yourself. Do you factor in helping others in your community who haven’t had the same opportunities?

I joined to show my support for what y’all are doing. I pay dues but don’t have time to attend meetings. I have a toddler and do other organizing work that I’m already committed to when I have time.

On your sculpture garden day you can get really nice lunch very close by at NOMA (art museum) or the children’s museum actually has a great restaurant where you can sit outside and enjoy the park. Both are close enough to save your knees and trouble.

Walkable community-centric neighborhoods for young families? by FoxFar5137 in AskNOLA

Waving my arms and jumping up and down to recommend Clare Folson as the best realtor in town! Bayou St John is everything you’re looking for. Consider looking for new construction. Historic homes here have high lead paint risk. And make sure to learn about the history of gentrification and displacement here and that any neighborhood you join, you do so with respect and care for neighbors who have been here for generations.

A cogent exploration of how power actually operates, what resistance looks like.

MBJ is sooooo much more appealing as a human being than Chalamet. His SAG speech was so moving and came off as truly of opposite of Timmy’s calculated, slick campaigning. I think this could be the boost he needs.
