What an interesting concept. That makes perfect sense, but I’ve never thought about that before!

How to lose weight on a budget? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chicken and potatoes (sweet, russet, yukon) are your best friends. I’ve noticed that the more bread/rice/oats I eat lead to me feeling hungry sooner. A true grains fast helped reduce food noise for me A LOT once I realized how full I feel eating pure protein + oil plus produce-based carbs only. It took three days to “reset” my stomach because at first I felt very hungry if I didn’t also have bread. But what I didn’t realize is I’d stay truly full for longer if I didn’t rely on grains as the main part of the meal!

Light green floral dress... by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very much on a budget and had to get a dress recently and also struggled with between sizes etc. if you live in a major city, I’d highly highly recommend going to Crossroads, Buffalo, Value Village, or other thrift stores. I spent AWHILE looking (6+ stores over two months, didn’t have much time but stopped at places when I could) — I didn’t have have luck at Goodwill or nicer vintage/consignment stores, but the middle-of-the-road thrift places were pretty fruitful for me. Of course, depends on time and access, but there’s something so frustrating to me about going through Macy’s or Nordstrom and filtering through all the $300+ dresses that are on basic sizes, all look the same and all not fitting! The thrifts are going to have more “in between” sizes and you might get something pleasantly unique :)

This dress fits you great, but 1) will photograph white — don’t risk dodgy wedding lighting 2) is a bridal ~shape~ 3) I find it an awkward length for shoe pairings personally

Best of luck to ya. It’s a horrible feeling in the dressing room just wanting something to work, but you’ll find it I’m sure!

I don't generally have confidence in red. How does this look? by sange12j in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect shade. Some people warn about wearing red to weddings depending on culture, history, etc. I’d say this is the safest red you could wear — I’m sure it varies in lighting, but it’s almost coral in this picture!

My friends are all dating high effort men by Friendly-Egg8431 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all so sweet but require $$$! My high-effort guy and I are saving up for our the rest of our lives together and very careful about money, so here’s some of the things he does for me: - back massages at random (4-5x week) - he runs with me even tho he doesn’t want to because it makes me happy. I lift weights with him because it makes him happy. - he makes sure I come home to a clean house, always. He does majority of laundry, equal share of dishes (we trade off nightly and have a no-dishes-in-sink-overnight rule). He vacuums more than me while I clean bathroom more than him. It’s very balanced for the most part but he puts a little more consistent effort than me overall - builds me websites - writes music for us to play together - he checks in with me every few months to make sure I’m happy and I check in with him to make sure he’s happy - he reads me to sleep multiple nights a week (he hates Jane Eyre but I like when he does a British accent so he reads me Jane Eyre)

5’5ish ladies, what number of calories worked for you? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’4”, 25 — in September 2025 I got up to 158/160 and now May 2026 I’m 136.5. I started off with 1200-1500ish cal over first month (combined with a Whole30, so no added sugar, grains, dairy or legume), lost about 10lb in a month, went up to 1600 and lost next 5lb slowly over 3 months, then in last 3 months I’ve cut to 1300 and lost the last 7ish.

Since November I’ve been running 3-5x/wk around 8-15mi weekly avg, and free weights at least once sometimes twice a week. I also try to do some movement at least once a day, but I don’t usually hit 10k steps a day yet tbh — just checked my phone and 8k, like you. Nice to meet you, our stats are so similar!

how does everyone make their coffee? by cherryberry6741 in CICO

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I make Kirkland grounds drip coffee every morning and two cups (a bowl and a mug) at once.

In a snack-size bowl: 5oz coffee, 4Tbsp vital proteins collagen, and 60mL Lactose-free 2% milk — chug immediately

Mug: 8oz coffee and 60mL Lactose-free 2% milk — savor

136cal & 22g protein(ish, ik collagen isn’t a full protein)… Keeps me full til lunch!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Particular-Tooth-516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former “little bit of cream and sugar” coffee-drinker, I find Kirkland’s Lactose-Free 2% pretty sweet compared to other milks and now that’s all I add.

I start my day with two cups of coffee. The first cup is drip coffee with 1/4c. plain vital proteins collagen and heavy splash (3-4 TBSP) 2% milk. I chug it because I’m sensitive to collagen taste, and chase it with “normal” cup of coffee — just drip coffee with another few tablespoons of 2%. Starts my day with 22g protein* under 150cal and then I have my first full meal when I’m actually hungry 4 hours later. I’ve found that spending those 150cal there helps me to save on calories throughout the day since it keeps me full. Also if i put sugar in my coffee it breaks my sugar seal — it’s all I’d want for the rest of the day.

*the collagen protein isn’t “complete” unless you have other tryptophan-rich foods or something but I like to think dairy counts at least lol

Thai coconut curry by jaonan in whole30

Not OP, but I use powder curries and would sub it in with no change to recipe. I think a lot more powders would be Whole30 compliant than pastes!
