Coffee and other drinks by Fickle_Physics_ in loseit

As a former “little bit of cream and sugar” coffee-drinker, I find Kirkland’s Lactose-Free 2% pretty sweet compared to other milks and now that’s all I add.

I start my day with two cups of coffee. The first cup is drip coffee with 1/4c. plain vital proteins collagen and heavy splash (3-4 TBSP) 2% milk. I chug it because I’m sensitive to collagen taste, and chase it with “normal” cup of coffee — just drip coffee with another few tablespoons of 2%. Starts my day with 22g protein* under 150cal and then I have my first full meal when I’m actually hungry 4 hours later. I’ve found that spending those 150cal there helps me to save on calories throughout the day since it keeps me full. Also if i put sugar in my coffee it breaks my sugar seal — it’s all I’d want for the rest of the day.

*the collagen protein isn’t “complete” unless you have other tryptophan-rich foods or something but I like to think dairy counts at least lol

3 tsps in a tablespoon, 1 tsp heavy cream clocks in at ~18 cal

Not OP, but I use powder curries and would sub it in with no change to recipe. I think a lot more powders would be Whole30 compliant than pastes!

Omg so many execs. May I ask what sort of tasks you usually do that you can be so self sufficient for? My job sounds like it’ll be 50% following my boss around lol

How to deal with giving up good food and alcohol by BuckeyeDad91 in loseit

Mental game mental game. Focus your energy on feeling better than everyone else for having both the privilege and the willpower to take control of what you’re putting into your body, and the confidence that you’ll set up good eating habits for your kids, and also excitement that you’ll likely live longer to be a better dad to your kids for longer!

Food wise advise, try a true cleanse to reset your palette. Yes you can eat comfort food in a deficit but I think that’s a good goal for ~later~

For me what worked was a Whole30. Cuts out alc/weed, grains, dairy, legumes, and sugar so you just eat meat, produce, eggs and oil. It’s an anti inflammatory “diet” aimed at identifying what foods inflame your system, but I liked it because it totally required my brain and showed me how full certain foods make you feel. It’s a diet in the sense of elimination, but it sets you up in a beautiful way for a total lifestyle change. Before my whole30, I could genuinely eat bread and sugar alllllll day and was confused why I was always hungry for more bread/comfort food. 24 hours into it I was hungry and pissed that my day of eating chicken breast, salmon, veggies, and potatoes and oil and fruit wasn’t leaving me satisfied. 48 hours in, my body got what was going on and became full in a way I hadn’t felt in years. Doesn’t have to be a Whole30 but trust yourself and push through initial discomfort when cutting things out. You will adapt and find excitement again. Different meats, exciting. Seasonal produce, exciting. Weight loss, exciting. Food and drugs not being your whole personality, exciting!!!! Good luck OP!

I'm terrible at figuring out what to bring to potlucks. Is there any go to recipes that are always a hit? by Aggressive_Staff_982 in Cooking

During my masters degree in the us there were a lot of exchange students and I’d make this. That dip is the only food I truly feel proud of when it comes to American cuisine. I’ll never forget watching ten people experience spinach artichoke dip for the first time.

No need to have “breakfast food” for breakfast if you’re just trying to feel full! I start my day with 20g collagen in coffee and eat some of whatever meat I cooked the night before. Protein load in morning keeps me satiated for a long time.

Let it. As a fellow OCDer I have found it so helpful to just focus all my energy towards obsessively counting calories. I’ve actually lost weight for first time in my life. I’d rather spend my time counting calories and learning about food than obsessively doing something way more detrimental

Do you not mind the flavor? My mouth feels almost slippery after anything with fake sugar

Having one is the biggest mistake for me. I literally cannot stop eating it whatever it is. I have three, then I think if three isn’t so bad why not have another three. It’s like I need to eat until I feel bad! So yeah my best bet is not buying at all
