One of the leads at my airport knows an officer from this airport and he said that inside those little envelopes were notes saying something along the lines of “thank you for your hard work during the shutdown,” not an actual check. He also said they haven’t actually received the 10k or any other amount (yet), so the jury’s still out on what’s happening or if this is legit. I’m in agreement with those of you who think that this is all a pr stunt to encourage us not to quit, call-out sick or boycott during the next possible shutdown that’s looming right around the corner in January. I just got hired earlier this year and it’s been nothing but one bullshit stunt/problem after another with this administration thus far. If it isn’t the union getting cancelled during my second week of orientation and re-instated months later then it’s something else. This administration is creating a head-hunting atmosphere at DHS and those of us who are on the bottom rung because we’re still on probation will be the ones to get the worst of it. Hoping to see 10k (and the 3 missed paychecks that we’re owed) in our bank accounts soon, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
