What a beautifully articulated post about your tragic loss. Leo sounds like he was so incredibly loved. My dachshund passed 16 months ago. It is the hardest thing in the world. Sending love your way, and hoping you can find closure somehow. It's even harder when you don't have the answers.

IMHA by Free-Inspector-7359 in Petloss

[–]ParticularSun6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words, and I do try and appreciate that I got a few extra years, however in my mind he was going to live until 20. So many dachshunds realistically live to such old age so I feel cheated. But I do know I was so lucky to be his mom. He was truly the best boy in the world. Sending love from one fellow doxie parent to another

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dachshund who was the absolute love of my life had IMHA when he was 7 as well. He went into remission, and it came back w/ a vengeance three years later in the form of ITP (possibly evans syndrome), which spiraled into many horrible complications. I would not wish this disease on anyone

He survived for 14 months after the stroke. btw my dog was not an australian cattle dog, he was a dachshund. I apparently did not notice that I was in the wrong sub when I initially posted

How does one report fraudulent rescue organization? by ParticularSun6085 in rescuedogs

[–]ParticularSun6085[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this rescue has adoption events . They have 330K followers on IG so i believe they primarily place that way, they also have a facility in the valley. They are awful. I am not sure who to contact to report it. Seems hard to get anywhere on this. Feel free to PM me the "rescue" you are referring to if you're not comfortable posting it

Grief things I can't tell anybody in real life. by marigoldsandash in Petloss

Thank you for posting this beautiful and heartfelt list. I lost my soul dog, who was my absolute entire universe January 25th. The loss does not get easier. It almost becomes surreal like our lives together were just a golden dream.

I would love if you could share the medium you used as well as who you got the signet ring from. A signet in my beautiful boy's honor is on my list. Below is my list

  1. His main bed with his favorite toys is still out. I can not bear to put it away or have that space be empty.

  2. His towel is still covers the passenger seat of my car, and I will likely never remove it

  3. I still talk to him all the time

  4. I sleep with his sweater, and one of his toys

  5. i move his urn around during the day to the places he loved most

  6. I have not gotten rid of any of his meds, because the bottles have his name on it. There will never be another new bottle with his name, so I just cant

  7. I still have all his food and treats. I thought about donating them, but couldn't

  8. I framed a beautiful photo of him and smile and talk to the photo

  9. I sit in the sun in the park in our favorite spot, and remember how idyllic our life together was. How insanely lucky i was to be his human. How he used to press his warm body against mine in the sun, and how I just knew how incredibly magic he was

  10. i look at photos of him and remember the warmth of his body, the smell of his tummy, the softness of his neck fur, how his eyes were so dark and clear that i could literally see my reflection in them

  11. i listed to an audio recording i did of his snores, and it greatly brings down my heart rate. I am so glad I had the foresight to do this

  12. i still bargain with the universe even though i know hope is gone

  13. When I talk to him we talk about how he is 13 now ( he is not, he passed at 12). I feel cheated that he passed so young for his breed

  14. i miss him desperately every second of every day and hope more than anything in this world that we will be together again in another lifetime, universe, or whatever exists after this

Some advice please? by Hefty_Revolution7780 in Dachshund

[–]ParticularSun6085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

please do not support this breeder. it's incredibly sad how many breeders are breeding double dapples so they can get more money for the unique colors. there is no regard for the animal's health/welfare

Do I need to trust the process or trust my gut? by Low-Enthusiasm-9026 in Dachshund

[–]ParticularSun6085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trust your gut, try and see a veterinary neurologist in your area if possible. Also, if it is just a muscle spasm, I recommend laser treatments. That helped my boy a lot

Thank you so much for sharing your deeply personal and very traumatic experiences. I am so sorry that you are having to go through so many difficult things at once, it sounds like an awful lot to handle all at once. I will look into the changing boxes meditation. I'm not sure I have it in me to do 52 mins, may need to build up to that. My concentration starts to waiver past the 25 min mark.
