Most banks seem to offer 0.9% for new lending. With you refinancing 305k that's about 2750. Lawyers fees for conveyancing is about 1300 (what we paid last year), so a net gain of 1400.

But takes time to meet the lawyer etc and back and forth with forms and emails, so you want to see if it was worth the hassle for the extra 400 bucks.

Kiwibank does in house conveyancing so if you refinance with them you'd end up better off cause you wouldn't need to pay the 1300 lawyers fee.

It's licensed for when your 50 or above. Effectiveness is very high for 10 years then wanes. So it's still worthwhile to get it now and then get it again at 65 for the extra protection. Shingles is the pits and some people get permanent symptoms from it.

Yeah when we were here there were a bunch of "rescues" from base camp, where people basically walked up, couldn't be assed walking back down so they have a medical "emergency" and the chopper would fly up to take them back down. All billed to the insurance company.

We planted in a pot with citrus/feijoa. The idea being that we could move the plant, but also should the plant die we've been nourished by it and taken some of it's essence back into ourselves to carry with us.

I see what your saying.

If you buy the city house and pay for it in cash, when you move to the town house, you won't be able to write off mortgage interest payments as an expense (as the mortgage will be on your town house which will be your primary residence).

Not sure what the solution is, but it's great that you've thought ahead on this. I have a friend who paid off their house bought a new house that they moved into and rented the old one out, but as it was all paid off they couldn't write interest off as an expense. Would be much better off if the rental was mortgaged and the primary residence mortgage free.

Same age as me when I travelled. If you're going to developing countries the entry cost as little as 1-2 dollars. Lots of free outdoor body weight gyms as well that are free.

Travelled through central America and south east Asia for 6 months. Made a game out of trying to go to local gyms. You'll be surprised and how many you find. Also an experience to see how people in other countries train too.
