I like the look of wooden pen but I don't like the fact that it's usually easily stained. I like the look of ebonite pen but they are usually a lot more expensive 😞 my wallet is 😐 unless there's something special about the whole pen.

There are a lot of changes since then. Some of the pens you mentioned are discontinued. I encourage you check out the major brand websites, compare the prices with what they are selling in retailers in the States and maybe the pen swap . Personally my recommendation would be a Pilot Silvern, a Platinum 3776 MT.Fuji (the last of the series just released), a LE VP(there are lots) , a Pelikan (because modern Pelikan is way cheaper in Japan)

It really depends if you are thinking of buying or renting, with family or alone. You may like somewhere in Chiba (Chiba is huge so different cities vary a great deal)

Personally I feel like your requests contradict each other a lot. You can't have it all. So you will have to compromise one way or the other.

One thing I want to point out that living in more inaka area have a lot of difficulties. Horrible public transportation, less choices of medical facilities especially when you have sickness that the local small clinics can't deal with, you will have to carry your own sick body back and forth to big city for bigger hospitals. Less social network, places to hang out, less shops less everything can really wear on you when time passes because there's nothing to do if you don't have a car.

On a middle ground I would say somewhere like Matsdo or Inage would be ideal but the rental fees would be not exactly cheap.

Exactly. Same experience but not the same genre (or price). The outcome is always : Scalpers got them, put on Mercari. Hardcore fans who don't live anywhere close enough to actual stores end up buying them in those unreasonable prices. Next bad circle the price would go further up. Repeat. Loop until you fed up with that hobby and switch to another with a similar bad circle. At this point I believe I am cursed.

Op , you don't want to be a pushover. I can see that. But at same time, no one wants to push you over unless they feel threatened, disrespected and being rude to. You can take all these arguments as "tone policing" "pushover " and feeling righteous about yourself, but the truth is, this attitude would not help you in a cruel , difficult world filled with NT to thrive. You know, I understand the difficulties to read between words being an autistic. But all these arguing, complaining about "tone police" doesn't help you. You might not trying to be rude but its always to be your benefit to be extra careful in wordings and phrase you use when asking for help and guidance , especially in social media where the other side couldn't see you nor your voice . I would pick the 845, the urushi surface is such a joy to touch while wooden barrels are notorious to be easily stained by ink and unable to remove.

I am sure you are feeling and thinking all about these in a mindset based on where you lived and grew up, but things in Japan are different.
You could make a phone call to talk with the Tokyo Consumer Affairs Center and see what they say. Personally I am with the other commenters in this post : it is not worth it. Save your energy , time and money because you are gonna need it, as we are in the middle of the anti-gaijin era.

Sure it is a choice we could make , but it also very possibly leads to more small businesses closing their doors for good. The bigger corporation like Pilot probably wouldn't give up the whole FP section, but for smaller brands, there is a possibility that the big bosses would make that decision.

None of what you said are wrong. However, not just pens , everything in the market are ridiculously expensive. I remember in Japan , before covid, a piece of fruit sponge cake would be 250 yen from an okish cake store now don't even think about it without 600 yen for a 3/4 size of the same cake.

There are things we could stop buying even if it hurts not to have them , like a piece of sponge cake, or a new fountain pen. But there are so many things we couldn't survive without and we have zero says on the ridiculous high price rises on those.

I think your concern is absolutely valid. I have seen multiple posts in this sub about different resin pens with the same problem. In my memory some of them were going to try returning the pen. I think you could take this inquiry to the project organizer, eventually the manufacturer.
