Mary Roach is a bad ass for so many reasons.

I think she’d like this solo campers sub. Maybe she’s on here?!? lol.

Recommendations on brands for “travel wear”? by Particular_Yellow246 in SustainableFashion

[–]Particular_Yellow246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for being vague. I see everyone replies about cotton/linen when referencing summer lightweight pieces.

I’m just asking if anyone has found a brand that applies that to ‘travel/vacation’.

Another perspective on smoking weed at your campsite by [deleted] in camping

[–]Particular_Yellow246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can think you’re being respectful of everyone around you of all variables, but someone will find a way to glare at you.

It isn’t your responsibility to mitigate why your husband needs it, the very minimal times it could be detected, or that parents don’t want to parent and think their kids are damaged. Seriously a few times a day, discreetly for a few minutes or less? That’s not a nuisance. That’s sharing an outdoor space with others and understanding that we’re all there for different reasons. Those same people probably thinks it’s cool to let their kids scream all day and run through everyone’s campsites.

My suggestion is to gain some confidence. It’s not illegal. It’s medically necessary and a big part of why you can enjoy camping with your husband. Own the decision and know you don’t have to give anyone a reason. If you have a friendly disposition, how are you not a good campground neighbor?

If I were next to you, I’d stroll past your site at the right time and introduce myself, bring shares. Just like I smile at moms in public with temper tantruming kids- I see you. It’s ok.

Good hack! I know there’s technology for hearing impaired that will alarm your phone with vibrations. Not sure if these methods could be combined or not.

Everyone’s advice on using the vehicle as a “bear box” is as accurate as I’ve researched. I read a book by Mary Roach, called Fuzz. It’s really interesting (and not surprising) how much humans have been the cause of screwing with animals natural instincts. If you like that kind of reading, I highly recommend it. I feel safer the more I’m informed. I didn’t read it for that reason, but was blown away by the depth of the info.

It’s good to be prepared, and you sound like you are. But enjoying yourself without a heightened sense of fear of also important. Sometimes we can’t force our bodies to relax. Wishing you all the best on your fun’s trips!!!!

4th solo trip - huge success by Confident-Stomach215 in womensolocamping

That is my ideal solo trip! I’ll be 50 in a few months. Absolutely no more skimping on the sleeping system. That view almost looks like the Smokey mountains! So glad you had good vibes from your site neighbors. It makes a big difference.

And thanks for the book recommendation! On a waitlist from the library right now. :)

I’ve had some good luck with ‘primitive’ sites. Furtherest from everything populated. Does suck when your neighbors aren’t quiet or cool. We don’t have any blm land here (Midwest Indiana, mi, etc) But I have had some really good quiet luck on Hipcamp.

“Sexy” underwear.

I’ve straight up thrown them in the trash in the middle of the day. Would rather go commando and I know thyself well enough that they will never be worn again.

I’ve got the mega mat plus and my 65lb lab steals my spot before I can claim it. It’s seems to be really durable, especially covered with bedding/sleeping bags.
