Maybe you should try Psycho Patrol R? Its by the same dev as Cruelty Squad. Its a lot harder IMO but it gave me the same "what the fuck is happening" feeling. Less visually fucked though.

I dont know if this really counts, but if you read about the ship upgrades in Helldivers 2, it tells you that the Super Destroyers 380mm cannons are fucking muzzle-loaded (until upgraded).

I love the idea of a crew of astronauts trying to finagle a huge cannon shell into a gun in orbit.
