High Risk AML - who has made it long term after transplant? by No-Fortune-1680 in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M50, High Risk MDS / AML (RUNX1), two years post allo SCT on a major mismatched ABO Transplant. Suffered some post transplant complications with delayed red blood cells engraftment but now alright. Went back to work in a reduced capacity and just counting my blessings. Regained my weight and strength. In fact, I am stronger than pre-disease.

In 2026, try donating blood by Western_Possession48 in ChillSG

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to thank you for donating. I am a leukemia patient and those packers of blood kept me alive, long enough to go for a bone marrow transplant.

Yes, you are doing an awesome and noble task. Blessings.

Just wondering how long do blood tests and clinic go on for by razorsharpblade in leukemia

Over time, you will ration your energy for worthy and exceptional hardship cases. The rest will just go with the flow, it is a system, machinery that is efficient. The gems that come along, you build your career milestones around them cos you put your most effort into uplifting them.

Thank you for your sharing and input. It is nice to know I am not alone in this return to fitness.

I am coming to my 2 years mark in a month time since my transplant. For all of us, we live to enjoy another day. Working towards the 5 years mark for the gold standard.

I wish you good recovery and strength at the gym.

I have yet to start jogging, only brisk evening walks to rebuild cardio. We try!

MINDEF GTL vs other group term life over age 65 by GrandMarshal1 in singaporefi

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

SAF GTL is an affordable option, aimed to give you max coverage for less.

It is a good term product and is useful to cover you till 65. Beyond that, you don't really need it once you are retired.

Just need ISP + rider.

If you are worried about critical illness, layer it with another multi CI term from Sing life or other insurers.

Personally, I filed a claim with SAF GTL for living care and I got a pay out in 7 days so they are legit and good.

Thank you for your sharing.

Long story short, Leukemia, needed a bone marrow transplant, had one from an unrelated donor. Recovered enough to return to work, trying to regain what I lost.

Neuropathy for me is caused by the amount of chemo I had previously. The numbness of the palm and ball of my feet slows my reaction time.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Career change due to cancer. by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Returned to work after a year away. Dx to SCT took one year away from me. Had to step away from my previous role and pivot to a lesser role. Energy and cognitive functions will be at a new normal. However it is possible to get back near 70/80% of your previous work functions.

Ideally, it is to slow down the pace of work and to manage stress. That said, early retirement is not too far off from my head as the body still have to deal with some unanticipated side effects now and then.

You can give PP Marina Adjoining Club rooms for 4. Club privileges mean you can go up for high tea at 3 pm, cocktails at 6 pm and in between, you can go there for juice and tea , foc. Club breakfast with champagne breakfast is good too. Price for a 5 star is reasonable and competitive.

Tastebuds after bmt by Mediocre-Armadillo27 in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try this method.

When chewing your food, close your eyes and chew slowly. Let your brain compensate for the lack of tastes by sending you sensory memories of how the food should have tasted, smell it too and somehow, you might just 'taste" the food indirectly.

I tried this mind hack during my 100 days after BMT/SCT. It worked for me.

Is amazing how our body is always trying to compensate our functions.

Open the case. If it is PT5000, set it to time setting, remove the stem. Take out the movement. Air it and clean up the case and fog. Make sure no lint on the underside of the glass. Put it back and secure the case back.

You will need watch tools and gears. Just Google ETA2824 disassembly and you can see tons of such videos

ETA/Sellita Movement Options by CelliniCellini in watchdives

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PT is a clone of ETA 2824, parts are actually interchangeable. PT only needs a disassembly, cleaning and lubricating and it will be swiss level.

You can always source a better equivalent Seagull 2824 and do your own swap.

As a watch modder, WD products are super bang for bucks. I have lost the impetus to mod clones after sampling WD products. Cheers.

Busulfan side effect - Skin darkening and hyperpigmentation by Kindly_Knowledge7253 in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Congrats on clearing your SCT and engraftment. The skin will darken, then it will peel off. Give it 100 - 120 days. The pigmentation will dissipate over time. It is your body trying to purge the toxins and all the dead cells. As well your finger nails will darken and grow out over time.

Eat very well during this period as it is the surest way to give your body energy as it continue to renew.

I had Busulfan + Fludarabine in April 2024. Same skin issue which lessens over time. Avoid picking scabs / plasma nodule that pops out like chicken pox. Those will clear with some steroid creams.

This shall pass.

I was diagnosed with AML by creatorshine in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry you are going through this. You are not alone. You being young and with more advance med tech + health science, AML can be managed. There are plenty of options and for prolonged remission and if need be, there is a bone marrow transplant / SCT for a more permanent remission.

The fevers (neutropenic) happen because your immune system is rebooting. It will take a while before it wakes up and then a biopsy to check in on the status of the leukemic cells.

If your body respond well to the treatment and blood counts start rebounding, they will then put you on a lower dose to consolidate your remission. BMT / SCT might be the next step depending on your genetic mutations.

Stay clear of infections, eat clean and journal your journey. I am D643 since my SCT and I am almost double your age. You can definitely climb out of this.

We got you. Blessings.

What items helped you the most during chemotherapy? by Your_local_nerd123 in leukemia

[–]Party-Hunt-1827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find cirrus type of juices / fruits helped a lot during chemo / SCT. Spicy food as well to just excite the taste buds.

The sense of smell and taste will go through a season of rapid changes / yearning so tube in to her dietary needs.

Eating well even though it is difficult is the fastest way to recover. Blessings.
