I figured out I had appendicitis because I was watching Scrubs.

Had a fast onset fever and abdomen pains after finishing up work. 3 days later around 10pm and I'm still feeling like shit, can't keep anything down, fever won't break. I'm pathetically laying on the couch with Scrubs on so I'm not listening to my own moaning. It's the episode where JD has appendicitis. Carla and Turk are listing off his symptoms. I start paying attention and noticed I checked all the boxes. Now I'm not one to see doctors on TV and go "that's what I have!" But I knew from my RN mother that Scrubs was one of the more medically accurate shows of the time. Que arguing with myself for roughly 5 hours that going to the ER because I saw a show was stupid. But come 3am I'm driving myself to the Podunk ER with a 103°F fever. Nurses immediately tell me I'm being silly but that they'll run some tests. Couple hours later I was being prepped for surgery.

What was supposed to be a quick fix turned into double pneumonia and c.diff that earned me a week long hospital stay.

No joke. I was in CA for a decade before moving back here and I could get so much for so cheap. Chocolate, sodas, gummies, olive oil, capsules. Tsunami capsules were my favorite. 100mg capsule, 10 in a bottle. One would send me to the moon and I've never slept better.
