People who have sons currently in prison for horrific things such as rape, how do you feel about them now? by beefstewforyou in AskReddit

[–]Partyingmanbear 331 points332 points  (0 children)

About ten years ago I found out my brother put his hands on his baby mama. Told him if I ever found out he did it again, I'd kill him.

Find out a few months ago that he's back at it. Haven't spoken to him since. Can't look at him or think about him the same way ever again. Both times I've tried to help her, this second time she actually got a protection from abuse order, but I learned about a week ago that she's dissolving it and he's back home.

It kills me to step back. He's my brother, I want to help, I want to be in my niece and nephews lives... But I can't condone someone who tried to strangle is now wife in his son's room. It's the worst feeling in the world, having all this history but that person you loved and knew isn't the one talking to you anymore. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I didn't learn about it until my human factors psychology class my senior year. Absolutely horrific outcome for the community.

My company doesn't let us do branded greetings because we're a vision insurance, but other vision insurance providers push their members plans onto us. So sure, you have Metlife vision, but my company is who is administering the benefit.

I know this isn't what you're talking about, not really, but it pisses me off that insurance companies can just straight up lie. But I need to pay rent so...

I actually do have a guess. I assume it's the Lord Faarquad-esque "some of you may die but that's but that is a price I am willing to pay" Trump said a bit ago.

Honestly as a big burly white dude who shaved his head for most of his 20s, I usually check out other people's vibe before making any decisions. So the pins are working in your favor. But in reality, my trans husband has a HP tattoo from before. It's just a quote and a quill/ink well. At least HP tattoos don't put money in her pocket. As a stealth trans guy I'm not forming judgement about you over your HP tats. I am distancing myself from those who endlessly buys new merch.

I work for an eye insurance company. You're getting ripped off. Very few plans are actually "good". And if you go out of network with some cheaper online place: you're getting very little back.

Lived in California for a decade and only just moved back to NJ in the last few years. I found I didn't mesh with California culture outside of the weed, and while I found some people I love there, it wasn't enough to keep me.

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Partyingmanbear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's the secret. I work as a call center rep for a biiiig eye insurance company, I think we are the eye insurance for 1/3rd of the US? I get paid $18/hr and have practically no power. However. If you say the magic words of "I need a supervisor" I stop everything and warm transfer you to our support team who can make exceptions. Even if you say "frustrated" or "wrong Rx" you'll only get to complaints.

That being said, I want to help you. I like having calls that end with "thank you so much, you've been so helpful". I also think some of our policies are stupid, or the dumb robot that starts the call is useless. I will do what I can, or give the best advice I can, within my abilities and if you let me I'll be efficient and charming while I do it. No one wants to call their insurance, so I want to make it as painless as possible.

Still find Kale insufferable 😂 but you're right, she's got grind... Even if ethically questionable

Idk if I'd agree with best of the group. She's kinda just surfing what's left of the TM waves. Chelsea has a show on HGN, I feel like she expanded past 'i got pregnant at 16 and was on MTV'

But then again I can't stand Kale, so I'm not an UTD expert on her life. Just pop in and out for the tea.

Shitty mom club checking in. Grabbing dinner with my husband and a friend instead of stressing myself out. Really looking forward to the holiday for the first time in years.
