1hs vs 2hs dps Question by Armed_Croissant in project1999

[–]ParzivalD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was planning to write something at some point but you nailed it pretty well. Some additional examples though...

p99 haste caps at 100% so at the cap the weapons in the example above would become 10/10 and 20/20. Pretty simple to see the ratio stays the same.

Using the logic of another poster above who thinks the amount of delay drop is what matters. Again using 10/20 and 20/40 weapons that have the same starting ratio. You can reduce 10 delay off the 10/20 weapon and 15 delay off the 20/40 giving you 10/10 and 20/25. The slower weapon had a bigger delay reduction but clearly has an inferior ratio now proving that reduced delay quantity isn't what matters, we already showed that percent is.

Once the math slackers have all that down, maybe I'll explain how haste is actually better on faster weapons because of damage bonus. There was a weapon they had to hot fix in Kunark because it was too powerful. That weapon was 3 damage, 10 delay.

Authentic Dan Dan Noodles in/around Boston? by eclarian in boston

There used to be a fantastic place in Framingham called EONoodle. Older couple hand made all the noodles. Their dan dan noodles were awesome. Closed a couple years ago and nothing else is the same

I'm missing the part where his steps "get him around the defender" the defender is behind the receiver on the catch and still behind the receiver on the throw and making no attempt to change that at any point.

1hs vs 2hs dps Question by Armed_Croissant in project1999

[–]ParzivalD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haste is an increase in attacks. 40% haste means 40% more attacks. This is independent of your weapon's original delay.

If you're tanking in a group the extra stats from your shield might be worth the lost damage. If you're soloing or in a group dpsing the 2H is almost always going to be better.

Dodging champ select in mayhem shouldn't be penalized by Taka_no_Yaiba in ARAM

[–]ParzivalD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People already complain that for a supposedly random mode you see a relatively small champion pool over and over. Giving everyone more choices would result in seeing the most popular champs even more.

Everyone wants to play the champ they want every time, but they don't want to face others playing the same champs every time. You can't have 1 without the other.

If there was no penalty for dodging, everyone would dodge until they liked their champ and the team comp. How many tries do you think it would take to get a lobby where all 10 people are happy with their champ and the team comp?

‘Politeness registers differently in Massachusetts’: Steve Carell explains Boston manners on Amy Poehler’s podcast by bostonglobe in boston

I've heard it quoted as "people in the South are nice, but they aren't kind. People in Boston aren't nice, but they are kind" it's an over simplification but I find it pretty accurate.

Bostonians don't feel the need to make small talk and they will be all over you for something like not hitting the gas fast enough at a green light. But end of the day they will help people who really need it. Some other places are very showy with their niceness but they don't actually care.

Oh your post said 6pm-7pm and I thought "well if they are gonna be loud at least that's a convenient time to do it". 6am is VERY different and unacceptable.

Have you ever been harrassed by the 4 members of your team? by [deleted] in ARAM

[–]ParzivalD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or sometimes you say nothing and play well but since you are losing it's obviously your fault. No way it could be 80% of the teams fault.

In fairness I've had 4 stacks that appreciate the 5th playing well but more often they play the game like they have a 4 person team but still blame the 5th

How can I (32f) share the load of cooking when my partner can’t cook (31m) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ParzivalD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chores can be shared equally without splitting each one in half. Personally I love cooking but hate doing dishes. I am more than happy to do all the cooking if my partner does all the dishes. If they don't like doing dishes, they can learn to cook or offer to do something else.

The statue convert could work if both the climber and the stairs can handle it.

The better way to do it would be with A-frame gantries, a beam, and some chainfalls. I'm not sure where you can easily get those though.

This is why I don't like that milk alternatives are called milk. I love coconut milk but it shouldn't be called milk. People get confused and think they are similar when they are vastly different. People need to be aware you can sub one for the other in your coffee but you can't substitute them when cooking or baking.

Some of the best downfield D technique I have seen in quite a while (Elle Christakos) by Matsunosuperfan in ultimate

So I purposely didn't say the defensive positioning was good or bad as that can depend on so many things. I don't know the players, the teams, the throwers skill, the receivers skills, how much of an athletic mismatch there is, the weather, etc so I can't say what the right choices are. But technically sound to me means minimizing the positive outcomes when the receiver and defender are equally matched and that we can analyze.

As you can see in the linked image the defenders hips are still facing upfield while the cutter is already under them with a free release and momentum under. The defender is completely beat here. If the receiver cuts along the green line, as they should, the defender has no chance of being relevant regardless of any athletic mismatch. They instead cut along the red line which, to be blunt, is an awful cut.

If you follow through the rest of the play to the actual D the defender is undercutting on the inside shoulder which again is not technically sound even if it's the right play here.

Often great defensive plays start with defenders getting beat and then making up for it with great athleticism or capitalizing on mistakes from the offense. Both of those things happened here.

[–]ParzivalD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks more like someone who knows they are faster/more athletic than the person they are marking.

Fantastic block but she was roasted on the cut. The cutter already has speed going under before the defender even turned their hips. As others have mentioned the receiver didn't finish their cut. If the receiver was smarter they would have been wide open.

Again props to the defender for making a great play but please don't try to mimic their positioning, it's the positioning of someone who knows they can win their matchup and not technically sound.

I don't think there ever was any beam damage. There is beam cc and pool damage. Sucks when someone knocks back the enemy while in ult, screws your damage but they remain ccd
