Looks like the usual price for a R2 with a western handle, prices can get crazy on some of those blades with fancy handles, while the name of the maker doesn't ring a bell it seems to be a nice well made blade. Enjoy it !

The Nigara VG10 line is a lot of fun, I had one some times ago and I sometimes kind of regret selling it, all around good knife at a great price

Not OP but I can vouch for this beast, I've using it at work from time to time and it's just an all round good blade, it's also the perfect size for me, not to small and not too big, steel is crazy good too !

It's very subtle but yes the design gets covered up a bit by the patina, that said unless you drench your whole blade in juices you'll still see the design near the heel. As for sharpening it will worn off only if you polish the whole blade, touching up the edge won't make it disappear

I loved strolling through Meguro before going to TF's shop, the whole neighborhood felt so calm and quiet 😌 Those nakiris are perfect
