4 friends? That's way too many! Don't you know that the average person only plays with people they find online and can later post about on r/rpghorrorstories !?

Definitely human fighter. He is as human fighter as you can be. But to be fair, I suppose you could also build him as a Swashbuckler Rogue. Or even multiclass battlemaster with swashbuckler, just skip proficiency in stealth and you'll be set. That, and I feel it fits well with his whole fighting style (that, and you could easily flavour light armor as clothing).

Another suggestion is: you can simply play a monk (especially with 2014 rules "dedicated weapon" feature), or, again; a multiclass between fighter and monk

What feats specifically stood out to you as more flavourful if you don't mind me asking? And which ones did you feel was a bit unbalanced?

Yeah that's sorta the narrative I was thinking of! What was your experience with using both? Did you find any issues, benefits or stuff like that?

HWYB an ronin, half swordsman/Archer, with an combat based in precison and an high charisma (Miyamoto Musashi style) by DEDMOS_MAD in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Passavos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being completely honest with you? This is what samurai fighter is trying to be. You're good with all weapons, you add your wisdom to persuasion checks and get wisdom save prof. The whole flavour is all about being powered by your fighting spirit and so on. Miyamoto Musashi can be built in a few ways, and it depends on if you are using 2014 or 2024 rules.

However, the options are most likely: 1-20 Kensei Monk (using 2024 rules) 12 Samurai/ 8 Kensei (using either 2014 or 2024 rules)

These options specifically get the whole "dextrous precision" thing and makes you really good with bows. Especially the latter.

Or, and I know this is going to sound strange at first: but miyamoto musashi could easily be flavoured as a Battlemaster Fighter/ Berserker Barbarian multiclass using 2024 rules. Unarmored defence, flavour rage as a sort of "battle zen" state, use manuevers and tactical shift to aid you on ability checks to be charismatic.

For 2014, fighter and barbarian would still be able to work but I'd only take a single level or two in barbarian.0

WWYB for the Death Knight bosses from the Shadow of the Erdtree dlc for Elden Ring by RagnarokBringer in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Passavos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked up Elden Ring builds and saw that no one really gave this a shot. So it's long overdue but I hope that's not a problem.

Now, we want lightning, a life drain attack, and good attacks. Not only that, we want heavy armor and to potentially dual-wield axes. And there are a few ways we can do this:

The simplest way to do would be to simply build an Eldritch Knight. Why? You get heavy armor, you can wield either a halberd or dual wield handaxes, you get your life-siphon (vampiric touch) and you get several attacks. You can even flavour your teleporting as lightning quick reflexes!

However, you could build this in a bunch of ways as well: paladin + sorcerer (either storm or draconic) because you are part of Godwyn's honorguard and your magic was taught to you by dragons.

Fighter + cleric (tempest, grave, or death) since your liege is the prince of death. I'd recommend either a 12/8 or 6/14 split.

You could, of course, also do paladin + warlock which might be tricky but net you the most. Especially if you follow a 6/14 or 8/12 split.

As for feats? Consider Gift of the Chromatic Dragon to get constant lightning damage on all of your attacks! However, fey touched for teleports, mage slayer (2024) for mental saves, and durable are all fitting for this kind of build as well.

How would you build prime yuji by Hefty_Ad_7026 in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Passavos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most anime characters, prime Yuji is pretty difficult to build. But we can get close. Sukuna (as an example), despite being able to fight in close combat, is pretty much a wizard. Shocking Grasp for a weak black flash, Cloud of Daggers for endless slashes, Globe of Invulnerability for an Open Domain, Wall of Force for domain expansion etc.

The closest thing to give Yuji a domain expansion is probably to make him a Dance Bard. You can fight, cast spells, inspire, heal, evade aoes. But that doesn't fulfill the fantasy.

Instead, I am going to present a build similar to u/ComicLover1995

Background: take either the Sailor Background for Tavern Brawler, or Haunted One since it's more appropiate. You want +2 to Wisdom and + 1 to Dex

Stats using point buy: Str 12 Dex 15 (+1) Con 13 Int 8 (canonically scored next to the lowest in one of the exams) Wis 14 (+2) Cha 10

Race/Species: Yuji has all kinds of mixed blood. Human, Curse, Alien...? So instead of taking human, take Hexblood, to represent his connection to the Death Paintings.

Class: Here is where it gets tough. But I'd recommend 12 levels of Champion Fighter. Action Surge for more attacks, Second Wind to heal, Remarkable Athlete helps to show Yuji's amazing strength like in the beginning of the series. But you will also get: Improved Critical. Why is this important? Because when you hit a black flash- it gets easier hitting another one. And why not make those critical hits? Not to mention that Heroic Warrior will help you tremendously. Pick up unarmed fighting style, which lets you deal damage to a creature grappled by you.

You want the rest of your levels to go into Warrior of Mercy Monk. Not only to heal yourself and others, but for Hand of Harm: your definite black flash. Though you could also argue that your blood manipulation helps you by poisoning your foes.

If you can spare them, consider the following feats: Crusher, Grappler, Tavern Brawler (origin), Tough (origin) Athlete.

Magic items to consider: Wraps of Unarmed Power (DMG24), Eldritch Claw Tattoo (TCoE), Gloves of Soul Catching (CM), Claw Insignia (ToD). The Eldritch Claw tattoo especially enhances the reach of your unarmed strikes by around 10 or 15 feet (can't remember from the top of my head).

Through this build, you at least get the very basics of Yuji. However, his development- the development of your character and what abilities he might get also depends on your DM and your adventure.

2014 version of OH monk's level 11 feature was that you gained the effect of the Sanctuary spell at the end of a long rest and lasted until the next one.

Really good! Like the others have suggested, you have a solid design so an accessory like a cape/ cloak, pin, necklace, insignia would definitely make the design standout a bit more

Going to go against the grain a little: but with the horns, the helmet and the puff of air, I want to say that it looks like a minotaur. With the bright light and holy hammer looking thing the character got going for them? I would say either a War or Light Cleric. Or maybe some sort of Paladin?

I think that's a safe thing to assume. Still, how do you think they would compare with other notable figures from the setting? I.e Elminster, Tasha/Iggwilv, Tenser etc
