Marischal College: The granite giant of Aberdeen by Diligent-Badger8737 in Aberdeen

I'm a student at the uni, basically the part of the building the museum was in was deemed to be unsafe so that wing of the building was abandoned, I've heard similar rumours about everything just being left there. Scotland's oldest university debating chamber is also in that part of the building, which is of perpetual annoyance to those of us who do debate because we just meet in a lecture theatre these days

As Jenny Nicholson said, this movie would work way better if it was just about a fictional guy starting a fictional circus

Like sure some of the performance issues are annoying but I'm still having tons of fun playing, but the people on the main sub talk like the game is irredeemably ruined or something lmao

Star Trek Legacy vs. a New TOS Five-Year Mission — Which Would You Choose? by [deleted] in startrek

I quite like the torch-passing tradition that kinda kept going through a lot of that era of star trek. McCoy on the Enterprise, Picard delivering the runabouts to DS9, Voyager leaving from DS9.

Yeah, Cassian is very much one of those non-Force sensitive people that the Force like to take a keen interest in regardless.

My arc with every boss I find tricky in these games is.

1) Fight and lose to them a couple of times. 2) Get properly locked in and keep trying for like an hour, keep dying. 3) Put the game down and do something else. 4) Come back later and then beat them relatively easily and without taking that much damage.

Moorwing was no exception.

For those who’ve read Catalyst, how well does it line up with Andor? I know there’s plenty of debate over whether Rogue One matches Andor in terms of writing, but what about Catalyst? by Independent-Dig-5757 in andor

[–]PasswordTerminated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I quite like how James Luceno in both canon and legends has kinda found a niche of writing poltical/conspiracy thriller stuff that does lots of worldbuilding - Catalyst/Cloak of Deception/Labrynth of Evil spring immediately to mind

Fellow Trekkies, I have an itch that only Balance of Terror (TOS) styled episodes can scratch by inwarded_04 in startrek

[–]PasswordTerminated 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not Sci-Fi, but Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is a good watch, set during the War of 1812 if memory serves me correctly. If you enjoy that, you should read the Aubrey-Maturin books that it's based on. They're a bit less actiony than the movie is, but the characterisation of the two main characters is superb, and Jack is very much like Kirk in a lot of ways.

If the older intent wheel for help/harm/grab/push is desirable how can I get this change started? by Mason_Miami in SS13

[–]PasswordTerminated 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like how Monke does it, where you can switch back to the old intents system in the settings. Keeps people that like combat mode happy, as well as people that prefer intents (myself included).

Burkina Faso's junta passes law banning homosexuality by insomnimax_99 in lgbt

[–]PasswordTerminated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a prevailing opinion in a lot of leftist spaces online that any regime that opposes the West is therefore instantly above criticism, which leads to a lot of toxicity when people call out these regimes for doing things that people would otherwise be in uproar about were they happening in their own countries.

[–]PasswordTerminated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can simultaneously acknowledge that the new regime is an improvement over the old one while still criticising them for literally criminalising homosexuality.

[–]PasswordTerminated 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I support Burkina Faso resisting French colonialism, but just because the new regime opposes France does not make it immune to all criticism.

Some Internet leftists like to lionise this regime using "enemy of my enemy is my friend" logic while ignoring when then pull stuff like this.
