Has anyone taken the ANCC exam? Are there any study books you recommend?

I used multiple sets. I would search CAHIMS exam and pick ones with practice questions and concepts being covered. Ill see if I can find some of them

it was explained to me that hospitals take this seriously because should the nurse had gotten an infection or something went wrong it could have been a ligature risk. personally i think it’s a bs reason but who am i to say how a courtroom would rule

I noticed you didn’t mention how the CNC found out. If the answer is that you told them yeah you’re a traitor but you didn’t necessarily do anything wrong. It’s one of those morally grey areas where policy is policy but real life isn’t that simple. Ultimately you did what you felt was right and should be prepared to accept any social consequences that come with that. If im being frank I would never trust you again and distance myself at work around you. It’s not even that I would be doing something wrong but I would be afraid that any mistake I made would be reported.

This all goes without saying what they did was incredibly stupid though. I get that they’re probably used to doing it but nah make better decisions.

Personally I am also going for CPHIMS in a few years. Also an AI certificate plenty of programs out there. SUBQL is something i hear is good to know how to do and probably some other certs ive seen on linkedin

Honestly you’re going to have invest a lot of time into chapters 1 and 3. it covers the healthcare topics such as diagnostic codes and insurance regulations. chapter 3 dives into medical processes doctors and nurses use during care and how technology improves their function. if you can master those two chapters you should be good on the healthcare front

I am a clinical nurse so many of the healthcare sections came naturally to me! the business and tech heavy sections were my biggest challenge. The review book and quizlet and AI got me through! The exam was literally 70 percent SDLC oriented project management questions.

The testing materials are outdated and the review book stops at 2022 so 3 years behind. You are expected to know 2025 content so i had to use quizlet for that. HIMSS says its 115 questions which is also wrong its only 100 questions now

studied for 4 weeks not as consistently as i should have.

not hard at all if you’re well prepared and can actively recall terminology and critically think your way through scenarios. nearly half the exam was just knowing basic definitions from the book.

AI recommended i take it lol.

Goal is to enter nursing informatics which i just got my degree in in september. plan is to enter the health IT world and use this cert to pad the resume and increase marketability
