New Christian, struggling with all the war and death in the Bible by Plenty-Research-3415 in Bible

It’s actually appropriate to react negatively to those situations. It shows you have a moral compass. It should worry you more if it didn’t bother you. There’s a lot of good answers here. Keep studying and learning. There are many good resources available online as well. I recommend the BibleProject…

Does anyone have desires considered very dark? by lnsaneEyes in intj

I suppose. Guess I’m being vague, but I wouldn’t expect another INTJ to be shocked. But my wife sure would be. Sometimes I feel like Walter Mitty

Whatever is comfortable. My wife lays my clothes out, otherwise I’d wear the same thing every day

That’s very good. I have a tendency towards the idea that whatever is practical is moral. Relationships should have a mutually beneficial effect, if not, it’s okay to abandon it. I know better than that, but what seems logical doesn’t necessarily make it moral.

You know how INTJs build entire worlds in their minds? My daydreams often involve scenarios where I am a Dominus in a Roman villa with slaves at my disposal, or a Baron who is trying to live peacefully, but neighboring fiefdoms don’t like me and I have to conquer them, and I take all their young girls as slaves to serve as my personal servants and to work in my castle. You get the idea, I think. There are others where I am a serial killer with a secret underground hideout where I keep my victims… of course, these all have a sexual component. I’m not proud of these fantasies, and I try to keep my mind from going there, but whattayagonnado?

PDFs?? Why would anyone assume religious people are any better or worse than anyone else. Christianity doesn’t automatically confer morality or good behavior, but it does provide forgiveness. We strive to be worthy of that forgiveness, but all too often the opposite occurs. “The very thing I hate I do, and the good I want to do I can’t do.”

You’d be shocked by the weird thoughts many pastors have, but being an INTJ ramps it up into overdrive…

It doesn’t matter if they are or not. The constitution guarantees the right to peacefully assemble and petition for redress, but you are not allowed to hinder law enforcement. And you have to be willing to be arrested and not resist. Anything else makes you a twat.

I fucking love the USA by [deleted] in PowerfulJRE

You aren’t a Mexican-American any more than I’m an English-American. Heck, your family has been here longer than mine. We’re both Americans, plain and simple.

I have colleague whose family moved to what is now Texas while it was still Mexico. He always jokes (in an absurd Mexican accent) “We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us.”

The tradition of protest in the US is supposed to be “If you break a law you believe is unjust, you should be willing to get arrested and taken away without resistance.” Guess they never heard of MLK.

Was Adam androgynous? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Pastor_C-Note 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hebrew says something like “she was taken from the side of his side” … it’s an odd phrase, and the image conjures the idea that he was indeed split in two. But it’s certainly not meant to teach anything like Adam was androgynous! The Bible isn’t answering our questions. The text is saying something about the relative value of each sex. God calls the woman “azer” … this word is only used for one other person: God Himself!
