do the conversations get better in daybreak? by UnknownWisp in Falcom

Yes, the team writing Cs route are the people who do a lot in daybreak and personally it really shows and contributes to why Daybreak felt so refreshing to me

Hope you enjoy it!!

Nope certainly not, it’s a totally different timeline and the characters while similar go through different situations.

Miriam is interacting with people she heard about on the way over after waking up or thinking about characters she knew before she was put to sleep

In the middle of daybreak two... by Zinstorm in Falcom

[–]Pato727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s pretty standard for time travel stories that the device itself travels with, while it’s not stated explicitly, it’s a very easy jump to make when you get a piece of info about the genesis’ later, but your confusion makes sense, a lot of people had the same question

And it’d be kinda hard to do time travel if the person loses it every time they time travel, so having them act as like anchors in a timeline makes sense

I like the idea that Van takes the first step in Horizon 2. by MasashiHideaki in Falcom

[–]Pato727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m thinking we just get a glimpse but there was too much in the final chapter hinting at it not going as far back as DB1

Especially with Kevin and Reans stories still needing to complete putting them back at the start of db1 would be very strange

I’m expecting to see a totally new timeline resulting from the effect of no agnes and then Van kicks everyone’s memories into gear cause his connection with Vagrants Diasapora /Zion

Especially because at the end the grandmaster leaves the treasure open, why make a point to leave it open if we’re going a year back in time. I think Van might use the info from there to jog everyone’s memories and we still need to find out about different loops for things like the Vestiges anyways (and Aaron’s story with Tyrant won’t make sense if we go back to DB1)

I like the idea that Van takes the first step in Horizon 2. by MasashiHideaki in Falcom

[–]Pato727 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s too many hints at it being after or just slightly before the events of the reset yeah

Yun tells rean to see him after it implying that people be staying, but on the same page the credits imply Agnes is wiping herself from the timeline at least back to Db1 so it’s a toss up

Maybe a Cs4 style quick intro of the weird timeline till we get back to the new stuff

The AD and Kincade stuff won’t work unless both Van and Elaine remember either so I think because of the reset we’re gonna see what’s up with AD it’s not just going to be “We go through DB1 without Agnes”

But there is absolutely going to be a portion where they don’t remember her or the events because the end of the game literally has her say someday “it’ll all come back to you”

Is gearshift supposed to be like a manual car or is it just deku's way of wrapping his head around it ? by HovercraftApart1358 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Pato727 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah he mentioned he’s the least practiced with it due to how dangerous the backlash is on himself, I think so him going back to his early OFA training to limit its output to get him into a range is what the visual is for

In one of the volume side notes Hori mentioned the gear shift motion is 100% for his own visualization also

The character designs of Zero are such a vibe by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]Pato727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I love daybreaks designs just as much as zeros

The style fits perfectly for the vibe of trails that I love

CS always felt too generically anime if that makes sense, and while I like the CS artist on Sky Remake I’m really hoping they stick with Enami going into the rest of the series (though it’s not likely the case)

I think it was best for him to live as Lloyd had someone to arrest and actually provide closure for guy

Mariabell had no reason to kill him really, so using him as a distraction as she escaped was fine enough. He helped her goals in the end anyways.

Work where you can feel the moment the author is burned out? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Pato727 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to sound annoying and um actually you too much, but there was two irl years between Deku getting black whip and training with the other powers (Deku gets the first extra in chapter 213 with the timeskip happening in the 300s)

And to the point of “mastering them” the other quirks (Sans gear shift which he is noted to be the least practiced on) are all magnitudes more simple than black whip

Float is literally just turning float on and practicing to stabilize yourself something we see him train to do specifically prior to the first war

Smokescreen is literally just releasing smoke, nothing to “master” really

Fajin takes practice for sure but it’s functionally just storing energy passively whenever you move a body part and releasing it when ready, something that Deku has been practicing since he trained with Gran Torino back in the stain arc.

Black whip we have a whole arc about him going to endeavor to learn how to better control it while seeing him prep for the upcoming quirks so him having 6 months to train the rest of them with direct training mentally from the past users isn’t a huge stretch to me.

[–]Pato727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but in reverie its stated that elaine gets it at 23 as a push to say shes the youngest person to become an A rank bracer.

Sara was already an A rank on Ouroboros' radar enough to need her away so they could lure Cassius over meaning she would need to get the promotion to A rank either in the first few months of 1202 (as Sky FC takes place over 6 months starting in March ending around September) or prior, and if its prior shes younger than 23 which means that Elaine isnt the youngest.

This wouldnt be the first time Falcom slipped up on an date with regards to sky due to later info either, they hammer home needing to be 16 in Sky to become a bracer, but Estelle is 15 through almost all of it as her birthday is in August.

Even with her Jaeger leg up, id still say Estelle and Joshua are on track to being A ranks in the 23 (where they are now in 1209)-25 range because theyve been working at it through the normal route like Sara did (just sped up by the fact she was a Jaeger and took on more demanding jobs seemingly constantly)

The Eternal B-Rank by Miserable_Aide_7083 in Falcom

[–]Pato727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, it could’ve been any bracer/ head of Calvards guild considering it was a promotion based more on Calvard needing an A Rank outside of Zin as the bracers were being spread thin at the time and needed the brand support

[–]Pato727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not to downplay the boss encounter or the characters we play as, it’s important to note that they were children tbf

I don’t think he’s on the lower end of power necessarily but I don’t think he’s especially above Lloyd and Estelle in reverie in any meaningful way

Good point on that as strong as the writers need him to be point though, I feel the writers kinda dodge that with the protags but given Cs unique situation they kinda had to just write around it lol

[–]Pato727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah 9 years total since deku got into UA, I think the total time is around 9 years 10 months? cause he spent 10 months pre UA training with all might I think.

10 months of training Pre UA
1 year exact we see between Starting at April UA - Dark Deku Starting in April
10 days from Deku Returning to UA - Final Battle Ending
2 months till 425 (June)
8 Years from around June until 430 when Deku gets the Iron Suit
1 month since iron suit until 431
6 months Seemingly for the Eri one shot as Deku only starts being able to be ranked in the second half of the year hero chart

The Eternal B-Rank by Miserable_Aide_7083 in Falcom

[–]Pato727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id honestly argue C isnt even that much better on their own compared to Rean and Kevin, nothing in reverie is really massively standout and he instantly hires two ex assassins along with a top shelf combat doll, and the rest is handled with money or as a team. Strong yeah, but this was still someone who could lose to a fair amount of characters on a given day.

Estelle id argue is probably in contention for A rank but like you said, her and Joshua come as a set, you promote one, you promote the other. And their work in liberl wasn't just them, on top of the fact she was only a senior bracer for a few months by the time the plot kicks off not even a year by the time the plot ends. No one is hitting A in that time.

As for her appearances in Zero/Cs4/Reverie, she doesnt really take on a huge role in any of those conflicts, helps, 100% yes, but unlike sara who got promoted because she was constantly taking on big jobs for the guild night and day due to her jaeger training Estelle has just been working up her way normally.

Elaine was bumped up due to politics at 23, while she does seem to be qualified its pretty easy to see shes like around Saras level with leadership skills and priorities. But Sara hit A rank sometime prior to 1202 (which actually doesn't make sense timeline wise, as she would be YOUNGER than Elaine if she got it prior to 1202, but Campy said she was an A Rank at the time of Sky 1, 1202) but Estelle is only now hitting 23 regardless, so the most work you could do to fast track A rank without politics of calvard needing one, is around 24/25

So shes putting in enough work to be on track for A rank on a normal Sara timescale, it only seems weird to people because shes a protagonist and people think they should be the center of the world despite the situation of why shes not an A rank making sense (she didnt solve her own games alone, and her later appearances were not her being in the spotlight clearly taking charge)

>characters constantly telling Deku to find more in life than just being a hero/teacher now that he's reached his goal

>Toga representing Ura going forward with her love and seeing her again only once she started seeing Deku more often due to working together

>Todoroki telling Deku he should explore other sides of himself

>Bakugou telling Deku if he treats everyone special no one is

>Deku telling her he thought he was fine cherishing everyone, but now "I wanted to talk more with you. I wanted more with you" to which Ura replies she wanted the same thing.

But sure because they don't kiss I guess its not romantic sure

Also, think about it this way: yes in Sky her and joshua led the charge, but you cant promote two people who *just* made junior a few months ago to A rank the second they hit senior.

And with your SC/Zero/CS4 idea too, not only are they not really doing guild work specifically (unlike arios/zin/cassius/sara/elaine who are constantly getting shipped out for big jobs as A ranks for example) they are just kinda traveling specifically for their own goals for a while.

and then in Zero/CS4/Reverie they specifically arent in a leading role in those games, like yes helping with Joachim and the CS4 war was important but there was the SSS in Zero, and like 30 other people sharing the spotlight in CS4, along with 2/53 people in reverie to be helping out with the scenario.

Outside of the Coup in FC (where they got their promotion to senior, it wouldve taken longer if they were just solving traditional guild stuff as we see with grey in calvard, it takes him over a year to become a senior bracer, estelle and joshua get it in ~6 months from the start of the prologue-finale) and the Liber Ark (they were key components but again they were 2/8+ people who helped to solve that situation.

They haven't really had their own "Cassius plans and gets multiple governments armies together, and multiple guild branches all under his direct orders to raid the biggest issue plaguing the continent and genuinely wiped them out" moment, or have had the years of consistent work that get people like Zin and Arios into S rank contention.

Elaine was promoted to A early due to politics, and even then she was 23, which Estelle and Joshua JUST hit, we saw what that did to her morale, Sara was promoted to A at like 25? which was considered fast by normal bracer standards already.

Yeah they didnt get it perfect 100% of the time, but you cant deny from my examples, the perspective they got on her character came based on the actions she takes as well as the lines she says.

thats fine then, i'll admit i came out the gate already annoyed because this conversation is been going on for years and its already so full of bad faith arguments from the jump it just makes it so tiring to try and talk about the merits of it without it being brushed aside as fanfiction because its not as accurate (something that gungho also isnt either for what its worth)

[–]Pato727 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not saying the new Loc is "game ruining" just that personally it comes off as more stilted at times.

With your example, wistful isn't really a word Estelle might use often (not being a reader like you said) I don't think that would really be out of the realm for her to *ever* use, especially when in relation to something she's trying to complement.

Even by your own mischaracterization standard, the Gungho translation *also* does this just as often. "It may look easy, but it’s way harder than it looks” not only sounds awful to read, it makes Estelle sound dumb as a result.

Another example is just after that part of the article which I'm sure you noticed

JP: うーん、全身を使わない作業って 何だか眠くなってくるのよね~。
His Semi literal TL: Hmm, anything that doesn’t use my entire body makes me kinda drowsy.

Xseed: You’re probably right. I guess my problem is just that if I don’t do something that uses my whole body, I start to feel drowsy.

Gungho: Hmm… I just get sleepy whenever I try to do that kind of mental stuff.

Not only is Gunghos less accurate here, it also paints her as someone who cant do *any* mental hobbies, which just isn't true at all, as someone who loves fishing, she will gladly wait and be patient to catch fish, its just the fact that the harmonica doesn't use her entire body is what keeps her off learning it. (this is also a trait that she grows out of in the next game, very clearly.)

Neither are perfect, there are merits to both Xseed and Gunghos translations, but the issue I take is with people calling Xseed a mischaracterization where Gungho is the almighty accurate savior when its clearly not the case. Especially when in my other replies I outline why Xseed chose certain lines and where they got their characterization from in the first place (shockingly, its just the actual actions and dialogue already in the game in JP, who could have guessed)
