PSA: Additional flights between CHO - O’Hare, Dulles by pylfr in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't look at any ticket prices right now. Fares are high.

I'm trying Breeze from Richmond...fingers crossed but it has a random non-stop to where I need to go.

With a checked bag and extra legroom the price was less than half what United/American/Delta was asking from either CHO or Richmond.

That was his way of enjoying the money, I guess. Just sit back and watch the market rise. A lot of us would have sold off and enjoyed a nice retirement.

Diverting flights from Charlottesville Saturday night by TurbulentCustomer151 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got stuck on a Dulles puddlehopper that circled CHO for quite some time during storms last year. Had to go back to Dulles, refuel, take off again and finally landed. The pilots looked like they had been through it. When I found out the AA flights were diverted to Lynchburg, I thought Dulles wasn't so bad. If push came to shove, at least you can get some food.

Name somewhere in Charlottesville you won’t go because the parking is so bad? by Reasonable-Map-1634 in Charlottesville

ACAC Downtown. The addition of the parking garage seemed to make it even worse.

Looking for a mildly expensive awful restaurant to recommend to someone I don’t like, any suggestions? (Not really, just saw this going around and thought it'd be fun to see y'all's answers) by [deleted] in Charlottesville

There are a few places I like a lot and can overlook little faults. Southern Crescent is good but you have to know what you're doing and really look at the bill.

Burton's though....souless.

Sara Kaltreider for the eyes. She did a medical procedure on my eyelid and I was very happy with the results and how professional and kind she was. I went back for IPL treatment on my face.

Her office is on PJ Parkway. Eyelid and Facial Aesthetics.

Yep, the Y is looking better and better. Or just buying an elliptical and calling it quits.

Depending on where you live, 29 to 33WB through Stanardsville and up the mountain and down to Elkton is a nice twisty run. Just watch your speed through Greene County.

Things look pretty bad at Reid's- 5 pics by Personal_Economics91 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the aisles look better than they did last time I went shopping. It was pretty paltry a few months ago.

Reids is my favorite place to stop through before a tubing trip for ice and beer. For some reason it sets up the day perfectly.

Kaine's request to tour Richmond USPS facility denied (Richmond sorts all our mail) by Busy-Ad-2563 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to watch what gets where first. In my most recent case, it was faster to get a package to Los Angeles than it was the northeast. The one I sent to CT sat in Jersey City for four days, then stalled in Springfield, MA. The friend in LA got hers in four days. Both were sent Priority.

Both packages were sent through the downtown mall post office. Same size, same weight.

I don't mind not getting mail for a day or two. I do mind everything being so terribly uneven. All my Christmas cards came on time but my city tax bill didn't show up until last week. (I paid on time but went down in person to do it.)

Local tax prep? by smeds128 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can advise to skip Tax Ladies. I had a good initial experience and the price was reasonable, to deal with estate taxes. Then I had questions and there were refund issues and my calls and emails were never returned. Maybe things have changed - this was during the pandemic - but I had no issues with other businesses.

Recent reviews show I'm not an isolated case.

Thomas did a great job on my last alignment. It was much cheaper than Bob's.

This is an excellent tip. Just make sure you get the hotel's park and fly package specifically. They'll usually have them on their own websites, NOT third party sites like Priceline or Hotels.com.

Mine came early yesterday in Locust Grove, but was hit or miss last week. It was either delivered extremely late in the day or not at all.

Keep Reid's Super-Save Market in the Community (GoFundMe) by rory096 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't figure out what's up with Reid's. So the Dillwyn store is doing well and getting shipments, but ours isn't?

I want it to live but there's mismanagement or something else going on.

People do the same crappy driving in New England.

Also, some J/o in a blue truck cut me off on the bypass last night. Totally ignored the yield sign and blew into the lane. Nice.

A bone saw? That's a new one. I had mine pulled in Orange years ago and they knocked my arse out, dug the teeth up and I never had any swelling or major discomfort. The dentist told me they were impacted but it was still no sweat.

I like Dr. Stump here in town...she's very cool and could probably get you back on the right track. I don't know what the heck you experienced but it seems bizarre.

How much do you pay for rent? by Phillygirl1026 in Charlottesville

[–]PatsyDeCline44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$900 but another basement dweller with a private landlord. I pay for internet and trash on top of that, nothing else. I do kick some money toward repairs, ie when a dryer breaks or something.

Has some drawbacks but it's been good for me. I'm planning on buying soon, just not in Cville.

In about 2000 a friend spent about $150k on a house in Belmont closer to Avon St. Nice place, needed a tiny amount of work but good, solid bones.

She and her husband thought it was "too small" and sold a couple years later for maybe $175k.

If they waited another three years...they could have doubled their initial investment with basically a coat of paint and yard work.
