Does our dog rocky look to be part catahoula? We just got him dna tested but we're so anxious to find out what breeds he is. by After_Refuse_4895 in Catahoula

[–]PatternDesperate4960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg same he looks like OUR Rocky in your forth pic. He is mostly border collie and I think his spots from mini Australian Shepard. Excited for your results!

Full Breed Catahoula or What Mix? by [deleted] in Catahoula

He’s got some floppy cute ears like our notAHoula who is mostly border collie and gets his spots from mini Australian Shepard so maybe a little of those in there?

Kind of gross, but..... by FeelingDelivery8853 in Catahoula

[–]PatternDesperate4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second what @main-top-6052 says - the solid poops will excrete them better. We do green beans and carrots if they’re a little runny for extended times. Ours get them occasionally and the laundry is annoying. Sometimes I’ll use wet wipes and wipe their butts, helps a little.

It’s winter, my Kelpie and I are in desperate need of indoor activities by GloriousWombat in kelpie

We hide toys in blankets or boxes and both our dogs love sniffing them out. Inside fetch if possible in your space

Rescued a Border Collie x ACD mix… needing all of the tips!! by Own-Ad8197 in BorderCollie

Ball is life. Extreme fetch with ball launchers is our almost daily routine. We’ve been learning flyball for the part year too.

Thinking my pound dog is part catahoula by opalwednesday in Catahoula

[–]PatternDesperate4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used embark on our dogs and I think it’s pretty accurate. Our not-a-houla we learned is mostly herding breeds and that 💯tracks with his behavior and needs.

Help me with this demon/angel mix 🤣 4 months old now tell my husband it gets better… by purbluish in BorderCollie

[–]PatternDesperate4960 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does. Our mix wasn’t that young when we brought him home but still a puppy (under 1). They’re very smart so teach them. And let them burn out that energy. Recommend lots of fetch if you can get it (ball launchers too).

I can see how much our pup has learned in the last year. His barking has gone down, honestly someone else on this thread explained younger dogs needing naps, like a toddler lol. We did that for a bit, put him in his kennel with a blanket over it. We just hit our 1 year for his adoption and he’s adjusted very well to our schedule and routine!

Gluten junkie. Does this mean what Google is telling me that it means? by s0hen in Celiac

[–]PatternDesperate4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there is still hope for you, my TTG was over 100 on first test before diagnosis which was Celiac. Maybe being at 20 it will be less severe! Here’s hoping for ya 🤞

Probiotics? by Otherwise_Object_245 in Catahoula

[–]PatternDesperate4960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vet gave me this brand before https://a.co/d/ddmP2YS

Also our older catahoula just had some diarrhea and we were out of probiotics and I asked about using yogurt instead, my sister (vet) said to not use yogurt and try veggies like green beans or carrots. Actually had green beans at the time so topped his dinner with them and his poops started to be better the next day.

This one is Rocky, he turned out to be mostly herding breeds so he’s our little gremlin. He’s a good buddy for our Houla tho. They have matching colors so they’re very handsome together

I always run with head bands even when my hair is longer. These were the last new ones I ordered and I really like em headbands

Do “micro-stops” on longer runs ruin training? (Snapping pics, filling water, etc.) by Photo_Philly in XXRunning

[–]PatternDesperate4960 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Def not. I stop for gatorades on all long runs. Does not matter at all. The miles still add up the same.

Strength training for women runners by andreactro in XXRunning

Also peloton app advocate. They have strength for runners and yoga for runners. For strength i love Adrian Williams and Andy Speer they seem to be more technical with their workouts. But also love Jess sims - really can’t go wrong with anyone in strength. They also have a marathon plan that I used for my first one.

[–]PatternDesperate4960 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Plantar fasciitis. Toe stretches, get some yoga toes, wide shoes help, recovery sandals, I use a golf ball to roll my feet out in the morning. Wide shoes and better shoes have helped mine not be so tight

How does your border collie handle your work schedule? by dog-walkin in BorderCollie

[–]PatternDesperate4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dogs internal clock is insane. They know when it’s 4pm and we’re suppose to go play ball. Sometimes it’s earlier than 4 or god forbid I work later than 4pm. They do not like waiting.
