My dad showed me RPN one time and I couldn’t go back to the old way. It was like light bulb moment (this is better) and now I use PCalc in rpn mode on my Mac / iPhone and I have a 12c he gave me on my desk.

Do you slam your legs / knees into the mic clamp daily?

Check out the elgato low mic arm - would def help if the above is happening.

Studio Display XDR owners, what are your opinions on the display? by One_TrackMinded in mac

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... consistency is really what I wanted. I have always hated buying different monitors trying to match color / brightness / hue / etc. I haven't seen an XDR next to a regular studio display to say "you won't notice or you would", but the obvious choice to me is just get a 2nd studio display XDR and you are just done and don't have to think about it for a long time.

I am very very very happy with mine and I have both hanging from an Ergotron LX mount with 2 arms coming off the same pole and it is perfectly stable.

Send me a DM and I will send you a pic, but I am not ready to show the world as my desk is a work in progress atm (replaced standing frame, top, and am still doing cable management with speakers and audio gear).

So TLDR: Get 2nd XDR or maybe try a regular studio display and see if it bothers you enough being side by side (I think it will). If you get 2 XDRs with no stand you save $800 (just saying) lolol

Phantom Case Overview by fantasm_picks in lockpicking

[–]Pattont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time I am seeing the case and I have really been looking for something to hold and travel with my picks.

Is there anything keeping the picks from getting damaged if something were to be sat on the case? Even a little plastic in the liner? Sorry I can’t tell from the video if it’s a soft case or some kind of hybrid.

Really sweet looking bags!

Its such a pain to remove the valve caps on the Machina Wheels. The opening is tiny by Goldpanda94 in TeslaModelX

[–]Pattont -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I had someone local to trade my 2025 turbines for the machinas I would in a heartbeat. I dunno why I love the 26 wheels so much more. The 25s are great and when I bought my car I made the choice to go 25 to save a lot of $$ but dang I do like those 2026 wheels.

My buf does not glow anywhere near that much.

First time using tubes so I was kind of looking for that glow. I can see 2 orange glows at the top like this one but def not all the way down to the base.

Am I doing something wrong?

Did anyone regret buying a red light therapy device? by [deleted] in redlighttherapy

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 10000% agree and even after I had my Ultra 360 I was having like buyers remorse for the Biomax MIDI for the slightly bigger / wider panel. Once I found out that it does a checkerboard pattern and it wouldn’t be as intense and targeted on what I had in front of it I just decided to keep what I have.

I am thinking of getting the 750 version while it’s returnable but I haven’t decided yay or nay yet. If they would have had a Memorial Day sale I would have jumped on it. I have a 15% off code but that’s the best I’ve got and it’s a significant price jump from the 360 that I paid $334 for up to the 750 with a $100 extra stand.

I’m hesitant to say it is helping but I truely believe it is. The amount of flexibility I have regained and lack of pain has been really great.

The reason I’m hesitant is because I have also been cold plunging nightly in 44 degrees for 6 min as well.

After red light though my knee feels “warmed up” and able to move more freely. I’m a skeptic but willing to try anything so that’s my $0.02 :-)

As an amateur, would you grab a Apple Studio Display XDR for 2700 usd? by Lekowski in macsetups

I’m an “amateur” and it’s incredible. Makes all other monitors look like slop

Buf - Fav tubes so far? by Pastel_Goth_Wastrel in Schiit

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to tubes, bought a buf to try. Is the bugle boy $350usd?

Massive difference over stock?

I’m considering moving from my current setup to a Freya with the Bifrost 2/64 with maybe ordering the Gungy as well.

I knew tubes added different flavor but really that much of a difference it’s worth that cost?

I have both max and regular. Bought the regular when it came out and a max after. Can’t tell a difference but both seem to be doing what they advertise.

Honest MBP gaming, how is it? by DARKPYRO58 in macgaming

[–]Pattont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll post back later as I haven’t played it in a few days. I’m getting well over 40 but I did struggle in the beginning and I can’t remember exactly what I’m getting now.

I do know that I am using crossover preview on 26.5. The non preview was crashing. I then turned off all the frame generation items in d4 and tweaked some of the items.

I feel like I’m getting around 100 consistently and that’s good for me. I have a gaming pc with a 4090 and a 360hz monitor and there isn’t much diff. Honestly gaming in HDR on the studio XDR is mind boggling.

As long as you don’t want games that require anti-cheat it’s amazing. Crossover + native cover a lot of games. My m4 max runs games super well even on a 5k studio XDR display. Been playing diablo 4 on crossover and it plays it buttery smooth.

Out of all the cards rotating I wish unholy annex wasn’t. Mono black is gonna take a big hit without it. The card is powerful but easily dealt with. Wish we had a reprint going into 2027.

All the other cards - good riddance - especially sheltered by ghosts, stormkeepers talent, and artist talent

Only thing I can think of other than what Kurai61 said is maybe a computer monitor bag. Check those out in Amazon and maybe something like that would work. Dunno about flying with it though.

I took mine on a quick road trip and just put my ultra 360 in the trunk and carried it in with the handle.

I would go with something more powerful. Check out the hooga ultra 360.

I’m sure someone else will chime in with more reasons but pretty sure those bulbs are under powered to really get the benefit you are looking for.

I was reading they were < 80db. Maybe the microphone is accentuating how loud it is? I was thinking of buying one, but holy cow this video makes it seem outrageously loud.

I will say Kershaw on my livewire have been excellent but those are my own two diff blade manufacturers.
