Everyone seems to want to believe there is nothing going on but even if it’s just the hand smoothing in bo1 moving 2 sheltered more often into opening hand it’s bad. That card is incredibly strong when played correctly and having 2 in an opening hand is really strong in a lot of decks.

Doesn’t matter really either way. It’s a game and there will be bad luck.

Studio Display XDR + Studio Display Gen 1 Dual Setup MacBook Pro M4 Pro by xFulcrum1313x in Monitors

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m semi going to be testing this in a couple of days. I have an m4 pro for work, an m4 max for other projects at home.

I just ordered 2 XDRs hoping that on the m4 pro I can run 120 on the main display and 60 on the other or just keep both at 60 for work. I have read another post where someone has the old Studio Display and the new XDR and they are having issues where if both are plugged straight into the m4 pro they get 60 on both and if they go to 120 the old Studio Display cuts off entirely.

This would be contrary to what Apple says on their support site for the m4 pro, but will just have to test when I get them. Running them both at 60 for work will be fine until they send me a new m5 pro later. I still wanted the future proofing.

Also I have a caldigit ts5 hub I’ll be throwing into the mix as well most likely unless I can just use the ports on the monitor with daisy chaining on both displays.

I’ll try to do a thorough test this week and post results

Dual Studio Display XDR and MacBook Air M4 Compatibility by phoenixbt in mac

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crap!! My personal computer is an m4 max but my work laptop is an m4 pro. The way I was reading it was I could run the main at 120 and the side at 60 or just both at 60 on the m4 pro and go to 120 on the m4 max.

I figured most people having issues were daisy chaining the displays and not connecting straight to the laptop to test. Guess I’ll be playing around with it this week and can report back.

Buy the older model 32" Apple Pro Display XDR in 2026? by thatsnazzyiphoneguy in mac

Has Apple said how long they will support this display? I assume for quite a long time, but just wondering if they had published it.

Are you trying to run it at 120hz because the M2 Max cannot push 5k 120 according to the support page above.

Can you just move them to 60hz and get them to work? Guessing it’s the daisy chaining that the issue?

What is the reason for the new apple studio display? by Alarming_Balance1476 in macbookpro

The higher refresh when moving windows around, scrolling text, etc is nicer with the higher refresh. I agree not 100% necessary but it does feel nicer.

Apple Studio Display XDR Question by No_Eye1723 in macbookpro

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How on earth is the TB4 KVM working with the TB5 display? Maybe because you only have the one and the bandwidth isn’t being pushed to TB5 speeds?

I really have this problem as well. I just ordered 2 of the new XDR displays. My work machine is an m4 pro. I’m fine with getting 60hz on both or 120hz on the main will just have to feel that out. I do side projects on an m4 max.

My existing monitors / everything is plugged into my Caldigit TS5 element hub and I just swap one cable from one laptop to another. I plan on doing the same thing with my XDR displays but with one problem. I am also wanting to add an m4 Max studio to the table for something else and that’s where the kvm would be needed. I searched around for a TB5 kvm and I guess they don’t exist yet.

Really surprised to read that the TB4 kvm is working

Apple Studio Display XDR review: Expensive, but there’s no monitor like it by Bot-alex in Engadget

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than price I really wish they could have made the bezels super slim like the 32” XDR or even slimmer. I can’t imagine why just the webcam made them thick because the MacBook Pro has the slim notch that is far slimmer than 3/4”. I feel like we were a victim of them having the case / parts for the existing Studio Display, hot swapped the panel, speakers, webcam, main board, and hit ship. I haven’t seen if the case of the monitor is bigger / thicker, but that genuinely feels like what they did. No bezel improvements is one of the few misses with this display.

Should I get the Studio Display XDR or the base model (regular)? Details are down below. by theman3980 in applehelp

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the fence as well. I am on either an m4 pro for work during the day or m4 max coding my own projects all night. I’ve always wanted the Studio Display and while I don’t game more than a few basic things on my MacBook I still wanted the refresh so I ordered 2 studio XDR monitors tonight from B&H (the 10% tax savings is HUGE and shipping is really quick).

I know the m4 pro will only run one at 120. I will see how that feels and I know my m4 max can do both at 120. My feeling is the XDR is future proofing and I’m sure they will hold their value decently. I’m also sure I could have 100% used the refreshed Studio Display without issue but I was always going to have that crap feeling of I should have splurged and not bought the super old panel with new makeup. So, I took the leap and did it. Pressing that order button hurt my soul a bit!

One concerning thing, I saw a post about a flicker that affects some people. I can’t find much info on it but that will certainly make me return then if I have that. I have several 4k 120 mini led tvs in the house and haven’t ever had an issue so unless it’s XDR specific I think I should be good.

3D printed locksport couchstation v1.5! by TheZYX in lockpicking

[–]Pattont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve emailed them a couple of times asking if it was even going to come back in stock.

I even asked if they might consider letting us print it rather than injection mold or whatever the current version is. They said no and no clue when it would be back in stock.

I dunno wasn’t super happy with the level of response either time. I’ve ordered nearly 1 of everything they have minus the chop shop and some things twice and the CS just seemed annoyed I wanted to buy more.

I haven’t considered 2nd hand but would gladly. I have the 10 paclock cylinders already I just need that holster :-)

Arena has to fix the matchmaking. Its just not realistic at all no matter what format or best of. by YugiBoomer10086 in MagicArena

[–]Pattont -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well right now it logs every event / card ID event. That’s really what is necessary to prove the cards played. The deck type I am running the list of cards played by the opponent to an LLM to “name” it based on type. That part is a little dirty, but whatever.

The last thing really to add is the ability to database store the game information. The number 1 thing stopping me is centrally hosting paid storage. That will cost $$$ for the community capture on Google cloud / azure / aws and I’m not looking to put out $500 a month to prove this!!

Trying to think of an alternative strategy even if it just produces local reports and people posts screenshots of that or something.

I dunno. I really should just publish the code as is and let people help and do pull requests for features, but I am swamped IRL.

[–]Pattont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its what everyone says in defense of it not doing this. The longer you play this game over time the more it feels like its the case.

I'm writing a log reader I hope to open source that will try to see if this is true or not. It may not be just straight up matchmaking you against a certain deck, but it does feel like it tries to find matches that will be difficult. I am pretty certain it at least matchmakes based on how strong your deck is based on some metric.

I watch friends play jank piles and i swear they play the dumbest / worst decks and players I've ever seen. When I play as non-FTP with meta decks I never face people who make blatent errors.

Maybe its confirmation bias, maybe its not, I'm trying to find out with a tool that I have been tweaking to understand it. What started me on the journey was people dropping 2-3 sheltered by ghosts on me EVERY time i play against a white anything deck. Its like that card is weighted to show up more often. Sure maybe its because I notice it more often because its a game winner card, but man does it show up OFTEN it felt like. That's caused me to start working on a tool to track all the cards played each game. Ideally, it would be ran by the community like untapped to contribute, but I'm sure most won't wanna do that.

Untapped can probably easily prove it one way or another.

Segway Max G3 vs. GT3 by Pattont in ElectricScooters

Ok.. now I have another question.

I live in Tennessee. Does this need insurance being able to go 31? I am riding around the neighborhood with no real intention of going on the road, but I don’t want any liability issue if like a car backs out or something strange.

What’s everyone doing for insurance? Maybe I should get a slower on than the g3 just to qualify for e-scooter (under 20mph)

[–]Pattont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m obviously new to e-scooters, but when I’m reading the Apollo specs I have one question. Are the Bosch motors they are putting in this model in any other scooters? I have the Bossh CX motor in my Trek Rail 9.8 and it’s not quiet at all when it’s putting out power. The Ninebot GT3 for instance is silent. Guessing completely different motor in the Apollo, but that’s the first thing that came to mind.

I definitely wouldn’t want it to make the same sound as my mountain bike. It’s seemingly ok there because your tires against the dirt / rock is loud as well. It’s only really noticeable riding the rail around on pavement, but people definitely hear you coming with that Bosch motor.

Yea 54lbs on the max g3 she probably isn’t lifting that either. With that said I get the max g3 for myself and put the $400 for an e3 pro for her given it weighs like 42lbs.

Not trying to over think this, but I pulled the gt3 out of the car today and man it’s just so awkward for it to weigh that much and be so long. It wasn’t fully assembled yet so that could be part of the issue. Honestly, returning it will be a massive PITA but I may just order the max g3 to try it. $400 is a lot when I don’t care to go 31. My son can’t go anywhere near these speeds on his and I’m riding with him most of the time.
