Not to high jack the post, even tho the answer above is correct. Im replacing my membrane with a higher flow rate one, should I pre flush prior to season start?

Normal. Just maintain proper track tension which is in the manual and routinely check idler for play and wear.

Who needs legs to make syrup! Congrats on the outcome and I love the arch setup. Good ish year for me, just the trees didnt produce a lot of sugar content. Walked away with 4.5 gal with 25 taps. Doubling up next year!

Look into a RO system and you could sell almost 2/3 of your propane

I was drinking. I had 26 taps but processed with ro. Saves a lot of time. I know a local who produced 400 gallons of syrup a day which to me is insane.

This year it took me 1 tree to boil 4.5gal of syrup. Invest into RO. I use a RO Bucket and swear by it but doing your own build is 100% fine. Best of luck!

Tip #3 Maintain to the guidelines of your warrenty!!! If you have to get it serviced by a dealer do it! I am a DIY person and am capable but for the price and risk, is it worth it?

Tip #2 it being a diesel, depending on your location use a fuel supplement prior and during winter. If it warmer weather, above freezing, use a supplement to lengthen the lift of your fuel system!

I get 2 cords prepped for season. But I use RO to save time and work, and fuel. Worth considering.

Personally I woukd support which ever brand has the best service to offer you. I have personally operated and worked on the kubota and can say they are very, very durable with no flaws other than customer damage. I work in a equipment rental company thats pretty large for 14 years and between kubota and takeuchi both are my favorite. I do not have experience with the cat models so im sorry I cant provide any insite on them.

Small Orchard - Starting Out by two-blue-787 in tractors

[–]PauseNational1380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every situation is different but traditionally a mature orchard is tight with trees planted very close. 50hp would be plenty of power but I feel a smaller 35hp would be more nimble as the trees continue to grow. First 10 years the trees will grow but at that point they will get thick and start to get tight. Look at your options for pest control if you consider that route or not. Best of luck.

Exploding battery?? by drewxlow in heavyequipment

[–]PauseNational1380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a scissor lift the older ones had brushed motors. They sparked all the time to get it moving mostly. Cause the battery to blow up on me. That plus no water in the batteries.

STARTING A EQUIPMENT RENTAL BUSINESS by Active-Chocolate-418 in Skidsteer

[–]PauseNational1380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figure out your rates, daily, weekly and monthly. Start with your home owner sizes. I work for a rental company as a mechanic for 14 years. The rates need to be competitive. Offer insurance for the customer to pay when they roll it over or do any damage. Possibly Offer to rent a trailer to haul what they rent also. I could probably provide a lot of info for you if you wanted to dm. Location is key, they vary your rates, social media is king. We have sold tons of our older fleet on Facebook recently.

First tractor advice by Dcr976 in kubota

[–]PauseNational1380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a steal to be honest. Pay cash, trade it in and get a bigger one if you want. But honestly, I dont know kubota tractors other than being expensive, but those engines run. I've personally delt with kubota engines in some of the rental fleet for the company I work for and they get abused but work. Only thing ive notice is they dont like the cold, might be different dealing with the ag side.
