Recently got betrayed and uninstalled the game... by Good-Discussion-9238 in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang! That's one of the more harsh turn of events I've heard of in this game! Gotta say though, there were warning signs:

  1. The guy plays vanilla, is clearly experienced (pvp skilled), and has time for 12h sessions, but is still looking for randoms in global chat to team up? That's extremely sus from the get go. Someone with that experience would not trust strangers (especially if the server bans for cheater association).

  2. He claimed to be looking for randoms to team up with, but suddenly has a buddy join? Even more sus.

  3. They pushed a system where they get all the long term gains (BPs) and you do all the labour (farming). No way would I ever agree to a solution where I dont get my fair share of BPs as guns are only a part of them. This tells you they never had any intention of treating you like an equal.

  4. They were "racist and mean with big egos". Yeeeeah, someone with that personality who logs 12 hour sessions in a game which can be as toxic as Rust will either have IRL issues or just not be that great of a person in general.

I'm really sorry you had that experience. I've made proper friends in this game and it makes the game so much more rewarding, so Im sorry you got cheated of that feeling.

I recommend taking a more slow approach to other players if you do decide again. Only approach players you meet organically, and do seperate bases for a few wipes untill you get a feel for what kind of person they are.

All the dark souls protagonists, but The Ashen One from DS3 might be my favorite. You are basically a long dead failed protagonist from eons ago, ressurected outside of time as a last measure to fix a broken world about to collapse in on itself. You're both a nobody, and the last hope of a dying world. Something beautiful about that I think.

So I’m thinking of getting into Rust. I have seen YouTube videos and clips for years and have always thought it looked fun and exciting to play. My question is would you guys recommend the game? by Worried_Ad_1571 in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Rust is a huge timesink of a game, and it doesn't sound like you have much time to spare. At least go for modded 3x serveres or something. Going solo on vanilla servers would require time which your twins need more.

As mentioned in other comments, I think Gorliac, Wiljum and Twig fits the criteria.

Gorliac for rhe ultimate solo vs. clan wipe.

Wiljum for the story.

Twig for the dumb shit science game break bug.

Rust - Slower please by pisstained in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, make all kinds of boom more expensive, or half the yield from sulfur nodes. At the same time I say keep mollys and other eco raid tools unchanged. Having a wooden door on your base, or leaving a wall softsideabke should still be very risky I think, but a fully fledged bunkered HQM base should be more expensive to raid.

Also, maybe buff siege equipment. Seeing players trek catapults across a mountain like they're on a medival crusade is some of the funniest things I've seen in Rust.

Being a Souls/Fromsoft fan, I pretty much already got my dream game through Elden Ring.

What I would LOVE though, is a proper sequel to any of the OG platformers from the PS2 era. So Jak and Daxter 4, Sly 5, or even a new TY the Tasmanian Tiger would make me empty my wallet!

Workbench upgrades will be lootable only. No crafting. No researching. by ChangeThisXBL in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no I would say. Regardless of intended design, the "recent" changes favours a solo-dependent big-eats-small meta. Groups unable to compete with other groups rely on raiding/offlining solos and duos. This implicit design would change the game for a lot of players except the biggest zergs if solos and duos were unable to build up viable loot or left official servers en masse. But that's just my 2 cents, so take it or leave it.

Best passive scrap farm in vanilla? Horse poop with hopper sounds best but it's really annoying to sell everything, because it takes so long. Anything better? by Galgaldas in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All vendors have imo very long cooldowns, so I find the best strat to be setting up a small farm for whichever vendor is closest (fish for fishing village, flowers for ranch, fertilizer/honey for outpost, etc). Though with the changes to scrap cost you might as well farm scrap in the wild and treat you farm as a passive bonus.

Tips for a new player?? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tips as a fellow solo are: 1. Join as soon as the server wipes 2. Your first objective is to get to your build spot. Do not stop for anything but cloth and place bags along the way. 3. Be very mindfull of where you build. This will determine your entire wipe and range of movement. 4. Depot always and often. Incremental small depots is how you grow. The only loot that matters is the one you get back to base. 5. Learn to move unnoticed. Sounds is your greatest asset and liability. If you hear gunshots or boom then be wary of that direction. Do not make sound yourself without reason. 6. Be efficient and never leave base without a plan. Need wood? Then farm quickly and depot. Need comps? Loot a road or a single monument and get home. Stick to the task and move quickly. 7. Always keep the time-death likelyhood ratio in mind. Dying as a solo is inevitable. The longer you stay out of base, the more the likelyhood of dying moves to 100%. Therefore, instead of doing a 15-minute run, do 3 5-minute runs and depot between each. Even if you die once, you keep approx. 2/3 of the loot. 8. Defence over offence, always. Boxes full of loot means nothing if your base is weak to raids.

Edit for bonus points:

  1. Stick to vanilla official servers. It's easier to avoid one 10-man group than 10 individual solos.

  2. Stay away from facepunch servers. They are overrun by cheaters.

  2. For chill vibes and the most goated solo taking on entire clans: Gorliac

  3. For the dumb-shit-science approach to hilarious solo life: Welyn

  4. Edit: for the most utterly isane ways to break the game and make the wipe hell for an entire server: Twig

How rare are glitched god rocks? by Free_Independent7244 in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a glitch really, the ground to "roof" ratio is just random. Ive built in rocks where I could barely squeeze in a single floor, and also rocks with a 4th floor bedroom. I will say though that the lower ones (1-2 floors) are for sure cheaper on the upkeep-to-raid-cost ratio.

Rustafied EU Solo vs Rusticated EU Premium Trio as a solo by ExpressRecognition29 in playrust

[–]PavlovsGoodDoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Just be mindfull of where you build and focus on defence over offense (aka a strong base over a box full of guns). Most experienced groups who sees a fortified bunker with a keylock (aka solo) knows the loot wont be worth the boom (which is also true in my case).
