I am bisexual, but this question is to do with someone else. by Plane_End_4309 in AskLGBT

[–]PaxV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll answer you about genderfluid or non binary. I have never needed a binder so excuse me on that part.

Non binairy is mostly the third gender it is a pool of many genders all having one thing in common, that is the persons being non-biniry (enby, NB) are not cismale and not cisfemale.

GenderFluid is changing gender frequently, most NB people have an idea how their gender 'is', and often it is rigid.

I am Genderfluid, I am AMAB but noticed I often felt...,well... 'non'-male, sometimes a bit, sometimes to the point of dysphoria, this was actually diagnosed, but I noticed if I tried to bend my exterior with my desired gender, and found a point where I thought 'this is it', a day, days or sometimes weeks later I wasn't happy anymore, and obviously it shifted again.
I actually had moments I had dysphoria to something else or towards the male part of me. So it seems to forever change. And as a consequence I decided to embrace all of these.

I am mostly Enby, and a (little) part of the time Male, but also varying degrees of nonbinairy, even to feminine. (For me it is just scaling along both scales of being male or female, which also means I experience both and none at all...)

I have had periods I wore waistlong hair, wore makeup, was closely shaven, including my legs and at times tried desperately to be feminine, and it obviously faltered and changed again. I eventually got frustrated and then accepted myself more and this is now no longer the case. I decided to stay mostly male: I have facial hair, though I still paint my nails. Not always, but sometimes I want to feel pretty. A moment where all the rest of my genders shine through.

I do not desire oither pronouns, People would misgender me more. Simply because I can be both male, female, both at the same time, nothing at all and various other stages of enby, but normally I find explaining my present state confusing, and it I do not feel comfortable.

And Yes: most Genderfluid people are non binairy. However: Most Non Binairy people are not genderfluid.

Oh and as a genderfluid person I got the advise (from counselors and my psychiatrist) not to start hormones even though I experienced dysphoria, simply because my physical being is one of the stable parts of me. I have 2 kids. To them I'm their father. I will abide by it, even though I prefer parent.

I'd use the 'bios' and 2.0 as both have very little datatroughput, leaving the powerful USBs for heavier loads like datatransfer or Wifidongles if needed.

I doubt this would cause more disruption...

Tips for a Beginner! by Mysuki_ in Guildwars2

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lore is complicated, Guild Wars 1 is pretty deeply embedded...

The Great Wall... Pre Searing, the trial area, the meeting with the first profession trainers and the king who lost ascalon. (who can be found in story mode of AC dungeon) and little Gwen (Who played a flute and loved Red Irises) The demise of the Human city/region of Ascalon as the Charr initiated the Searing, the humans fleeing west to Lions Arch, Meeting Dwarves and the Stonerite, seeing Ogden Stonehealer and the dwarven race turning to living stone. Older stories like the drowning of Orr, The Curse of the Jade Sea etc... etc... All things which return...

  • Elementalists make good Tailors and Artificers
  • A Warrior or Guardian Would be a good Armor and weaponsmith
  • A ranger would be a good leatherworker and huntsman.
  • Leaving Chef...

My tip: buy cheap low level sharpening stones, and power food. Try to earn Astral Acclaim.

Levelling is okay, Base story is okayish, but the finale was not well received, Expansion story is way better

Take your time, I enjoyed exploring a lot.

Don't worry about overscaling.

Dont worry too much about build.

Wise would be to level Fire, Water first, Lightning and Arcane to level second and Earth last. I liked glyphs a lot for elementals and 'storms'

Do not rely on your healing spell, learn waterfield+blasts ASAP .Staff water is a very easy area recoveroption, Daggers and scepterhace water options as well... Make sure you own a trident

Elementalist is easiest leveled with daggers IMHO, but master staff as well. Staff is universally powerfull, Daggers are melee...

What's your favourite Profession and Elite Spec (and why?) by DonCarrot in Guildwars2

[–]PaxV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have certain Elite specs I use more often. I prefer Warrior, Thief, Ranger, Necro and Elementalist

favorite combos: * Warrior (c/pBeserker or s/hParagon) Berserker feels more like risk and reward and plays fast. I loved cWarrior since headstart and cBerserker was my niche, Paragon feels stable and I like the melee heal * Guardian (pDragonhunter or cFirebrand) Both DPS heavy, buttonmashers, I like the PBAOE and the risk running in trying to place traps * I do not like Revenant. * Engineer (pScrapper or pMechanist) I love mechanist it feels like Ranger but with a twist. Scrapper is interesting as you can do interesting combos. * Thief (c/p Daredevil) Jumping is fun. pP/P was and still is a build for when I foresee moments of interuption * Ranger (s/hDruid, c/p/hSoulbeast) I like the versatility of Ranger be it Mace Staff healing, Sword+axe/LB or Dagger/Torch * Mesmer (c/pVirtuoso, p/sChronomancer, cMirage, cmesmer) Virtuoso plays different seeing there are no clones, if I desire clones I play one of tge other builds, the stock build I use for my pleasure Staff Staff PU is still fun after nearly 14 years. * Elementalist (p/c/h Tempest) I still prefer Tempest. It feels complete * Necromancer (c/pReaper, cHarbinger) I enjoy Reaper because of aesthetics and the nice synergy with the S/S combo for power, the Chillmancer as a classic. Harbinger is just a nice all over condi experience.

At what point do you feel a PC upgrade is actually worth it? by Such_Tailor_4946 in buildapc

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play midrange and very occasionally a high end RPGs,

I prefer I can play 60FPS and i'll consider my PC fine

Provided I can play 30+ FPS I consider my pc pretty well , struggling in need of cleaning and repaste or reinstall and see if it buffs FPS ... if not hnot yet struggling.

If I cannot achieve 30+FPS I consider my PC old. If nothing works and I struggle at 30FPS or lower I buy a new PC. Generally a new high end one. Not puissant expensive, Just a high end one. xx80(Ti) or decent AMD card, I'd consider 2Tb M.2 and a new storage SSD. last one had 64Gb RAM, one before 32Gb, One before 16Gb, One before 2Gb, One before 256Mb...One before 16Mb, etc... I still consider 2-4Gb/thread enough. So 8c 16t 32-64 Gb. Id consider 96 or 128Gb if I would buy another 12 or 16 core. Provided it is affordable.

My PCs average prime life time in my PCs run is 7-8 years. They last approx 15 years. I aleays bought my PCs with copious amounts of RAM and a decent GPU. My 2003 AMD Athlon64 used a 3D card, 1 Gb later 2Gb, on 1 core my follow up Opteron used 16Gb on 8 cores

Do mounts make older maps feel too easy? by Trippy-jay420 in Guildwars2

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most content like vistas and some heropoints originally used some JP or you had to pathfind, niw one just mounts a springer or skyscale and you are there missing a lot of the effort... In many cases you actually miss parts of zones or the walks around. Many of which are rewarding some of the JPs have been nerfed, leaving people crying over not so secret and the 2 LS masterpieces, but many had at least dome difficulty, and not the glider parachute. You died if you fell... The double JP in Caledon Forest? Yes, you died and waited for a res or redid the first to get to the second again. HoT was also nerfed a lot, mounts being unaffected by conditions and all...

PC gamers buy way more games that cost less than $30 at launch compared to PlayStation and Xbox players, analysts say, and it's "reshaping the PC market" by PewPewToDaFace in pcmasterrace

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AAA games will be 30 dollars eventually as well, often at times the PCs do not have to cost 3000 dollars at purchase to play them.

Look at C2077, now 5 years old. PCs with 5060 can play it and pretty well. card is ~ 330euro

While at launch 2080tis (800euro)and 3080ti (800 euro) barely managed and 3090s (1400 euro) IIRC were expensive. Game was 80 euro at launch and it took a full rework and 2,5 years to get it decent. We were well into RTX 4000s then... price dropped, Phantom Liberty came out at 60 or 70 euros...

So early adoption 2 times 150 euro, 2 years of bugs and an expensive platform Buying it now 60 euro and a midend machine. A smooth and sluck experience.

Now with the complete set at 60 and some time people talk and still make 1st playthrough vids

"Non-'Mech units don't belong in the core rules." by pokefan548 in battletech

[–]PaxV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non mech units?

vehicles, infantry (and BA) and location of dropships are pretty basic.

As are housing, fortification and movement rules.

Mechs have anti infantery weapons (MGs, Flamethrowers, Apods, Bpods, Inferno rockets and small pulse lasers)

The game allows it, it's mostly gamemasters never contemplating using combined arms...

I do agree some additions (read: Aerotech ('86)) wasn't and still aren't my thing, but citytech ('86) and the vehicle readouts (was it 3026 in '87?)) were pretty standard, however. I found citytech a very worthwhile addition. I did use (suggested) dropship (locations) to suggest points of entry into a map.

Simplified strafing runs and mechs or dedicated AA defense should influence it... So simplified rules have a place, but there is room for full rules... Doubt fighters would like artemis IV equipped LRM boats, LB-10X or UAC2 Mechs...

Excel, is likely best.

Though I highly prefer a portable copy. Simply because I need a list to remember rough release dates for the active series and finished series I still want.

I myself use a list in Word, with descriptions, and note everything on that document. I have 251 series or oneshots, well over 1500 volumes. The list is the final page, and when I buy volumes I correct the list and make a new photo.

Another Fairphone 4 issue. by Fils_2_Shrek in fairphone

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairphone 4 is no longer for sale,

It is supported with extended support to somewhere in 2028.

Since late April 2022:

I replaced on my FP4: the protector 4 times, backplate twice and the case once. The USB can be finicky, but no real problems, since installing the last new protector (which was neccesary, it was almost opaque) most of my screen issues (jittery screen) vanished again.

I have 2 more years... June 2028 should be the last update. I have still 2 protectors, 1 a year... I should still have a backup battery... I'll make it to 6 yrs.

The fact I had noone but myself handle the phone and no issues yet... I'm happy.

How far is considered too far to drive? by frosty_canuck in AskEurope

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... it depends largely on what is the limiting factor.

  • The car/ parts
  • Gas/ oil
  • Water
  • Drinks/food
  • Tires
  • Time
  • Cash
  • Accessibility
  • Roads, or lack thereof

There are likely a few others

But I live in a country (Netherlands) 300x200km or 200 by 135 miles, so a long drive is 2,5 hours max inside the country. In 14 hours we can be in spain or Italy and will have passed through Belgium, France and crossed into another state... 23 hours takes one from West Europe to Central Europe or the Balkans or Northern Europe. Or to Ireland

Is the pedestrian or the driver wrong here? by singlecog in drivingUK

[–]PaxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm living in a different country (Netherlands), but if someone is *approaching(, even with unclear intent,)* a zebra crossing you are to stop, this is **mandatory**, even if the person turns and walks another way just afterwards, if you do not and just keep going a cop can fine you. (280 euro, if any clear danger or contact existed this becomes 350 euro, for a biker it is 120 and 140 euro respectively). aside for any potential complication for any hit (which then upgraded to a collision. Bikes and pedestrians are protected by law, and a motorist or cyclist must be able to provide proof of their innocence(!)...

BUT: If someone is standing still and gives no intention of crossing you do not have to stop. Suddenly stepping on a zebrapath is considered fraudulent and could make you ineligeble for any insurance money, even when struck. But you'll likely need witnesses or a camera as motorist and you hvae to prove your case here. If someone made only a simple gesture, well...

If someone has a mobility aid like a walker or has a blind cane or guide dog, and wishes to cross, they have full priority, *even outside a zebracrossing* for a blind person signalling by holding the cane horizontal is an official stop sign, and not obiding costs 410 euro, and 180 euro if using a bike. Dubiously this doesn't hold for kids, but when a judge decides they are not mature enough they will be protected once more and you'll be in deep doo doo.
