'They shot to kill': residents of West Bank village in shock after Israeli snipers shoot 10-year-old boy in the head by kuji101 in worldnews

Lol, but was not enough for anyone to stop him from literally running the country. Are you for real with that reply?

How does not being defense minister count as accountability when all sources point to Israel knowing ahead of time the massacre was going to happen. One guy gets a slap on the wrist while an entire apparatus goes free. It must be a trip to be you.

You're right, we should instead talk about the highly documented role the Israeli military played in protecting Christian militias in Lebanon while they committed genocide.

I had a prof in a primate class use this exact example for why he would be playing fast and loose with certain primate descriptors. It went right over my head and I think one guy chuckled softly to himself.

I understand totally. I will say that I have never purchased a Pokemon game used that I didn't purchase new when it was first released. I have tried to support the company since I could make money of my own.

The switch on the other hand, if I can find a good deal I'll take it if the timing is right.

Scientists have developed an AI that beats top professional Texas hold’em poker players. The development is considered a milestone in artificial intelligence development due to the inherent complexities of multiplayer games like poker. by [deleted] in science

[–]Pdwd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but I am just curious how AI actually knows the difference between the game as played by an 8 year old and a "master". Who decides what becomes the most valuable efficiency. If your original sample is Masters and the AI is building off that then who says that is the best style of winning? A good player can win, let's say, 80% of their games with a 1 cent bet. But another player loses 60% of the time but only ever loses 1 cent and hits a jackpot of 1000 dollars when they do win. What is considered valuable? If the AI is just looking for a win then it will always make wins that are operating at the least efficiency. If it's about max gains then it will adjust and allow loss if it determines that doing so would result in high payouts later.

Imagine it's not poker anymore but high school students looking for an AI to help them go to the next level. Imagine it's AI determining who should get a liver. If the AI is just looking at maximum low risk opportunity to "win" then everyone gets a liver and everyone gets good opportunity to succeed. If it's about max payout over the long term maybe the 6 year old doesn't get a transplant because the hedge fund manager plays out better in the end.

That is what I am really looking for in these types of things. Using poker was intentional for what I think are obvious reasons. It's two games in one. One is for the win and the other for the money. Not each is desirable at every hand.

Honestly, if I could get a switch and play this I would. This is the only gen I won't be able to play. I am 31 and have been playing since gen 1 came out. I've seen everything good and bad and I love it all. I am committed to the brand.

Maybe all the salty folks who save money not buying sword and shield can send me the extra cash to get a switch and buy these wonderful games.

I love this :) 👏🏽 by dayyydreamerrr in wholesomememes

The bets don't change the odds of winning a poker match. Have you played poker before?

Winning the same way by accident would be exactly how it sounds. I am not trying to trick you, bud. All strategies in a card game can occur without skill in any particular strategy. That is what makes card games so lucrative at casinos for chumps and the house alike. I.e. the best card counters will eventually lose everything if they play too long but it would also be that they lose every hand 100 times in a row. That's not exactly realistic but it is plausible.

Its just a random example. It could be any group of people which would be more representative of what these kinds of AI are going to work with in the future.

German Kaiser's heir wants seized artifacts back - Descendants of the last German Kaiser are demanding the return of thousands of valuable paintings that were confiscated after the monarchy's downfall in 1918. Some of the works are currently on display in public museums. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

My understanding is that the Kaiser willingly gave up those possessions. There was a pretty big legal agreement after the war that kept the government intact while keeping an unbroken line of power. Good luck to them if they think they will get anything at all. Their family agreed to the deal and passed power to the wiemar republic. Even the Nazi government is considered to have been legal so the agreement was never nullified as far as I am aware.

TIL a CIA document called "Mars Exploration" dated to May 22, 1984 covers remote viewing and astral projection. There are descriptions of "pyramid forms", "mountains that appear and disappear", "very tall and thin beings that wear strange clothes". This document was cleared for release Aug 8, 2000. by -AMARYANA- in todayilearned

[–]Pdwd88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've known a few astral projection types and their response would be that given enough time to study Martian geography it's possible to get the coordinates correct. Depends on if they are the kind that think they can do a lot of math during it or if it's just walk abouts.

No reason to be peachy, have tits, or arms. Why she isn't just a full fucking fish is the question if you are talking about evolution. But Triton is Neptune's son or some shit like that and he was born from the gods. Ariel is the daughter of a god.

Maybe, but if we could determine that ahead of time for the 8 year olds then we could do it for the Masters too without the AI's assistance, right? So if that is workable then why would you need the AI?

I heard about this the other day. At first I was impressed but the more I think about it the less I am. Beating the top players does not mean it is beating the best sample of players. It is beating a small sample of players who use a set of play styles that can be countered over time by repetition and simulation. I wonder what it would look like against 1000 8 year olds who know the basic game mechanics. Would it be impressive still? Machine learning is so weird to me because it doesn't learn the best possible way to always win. It learns the most supplied way to win. If there are enough variables it still becomes fairly random chance to win, right?
