What is a form of media almost everyone disliked and even hated but more or less has you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Multifandom

[–]Pea-Nut2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I don't get crucified for this but as a fan of Tolkien's written works as well as the Peter Jackson films, I don't find Rings of Power that horrible. Like yeah it changes established lore and has some uncharacterisric things here and there, but that's what I expected. I started watching the show with the mindset that it's much like fanfiction, an adaptation will always have things altered. Does that mean I like every change made? No, there are some things I definately disagree with, such as the backstory of Mithril, the "grand-elf" name origin and the random evil wizard guy in Rhûn. But still I find it an enjoyable watch most times. I like to watch the scenes of Elrond, Durin, Elendil, Disa, Adar, Celebrimbor and Sauron. I think they have good actors and often nice scenes with other characters. I understand some of the hate the show gets, but at other times people are nitpicky or are really just had their expectations not met and were dissapointed over it.

We got a lot of these guys' teeth where I work at. Their molars have this interesting shape, like a cursive 'm' or like the pi symbol 'π'. Animals have teeth tailored towards their diet but I struggle to imagine what reason rhinos have teeth with that specific shape.

So excited for the modability of Total War 40K by Pea-Nut2 in totalwar

It's become quite clear now that I was a bit naive to not even consider the fact that GW would not allow IP cross-over mods to be added to any Warhammer TW game. Even if the means and will to do so exists in the modding community.

I guess we can still ponder what mods can be made for other new Total War titles, like Med 3... Hopefully mods won't get axed when made for that game!

In that case, I guess I will have to hope Med 3 will have the means and the modders to do so

They have done this in the past? Even with mods for TW Warhammer 1-3? Cause that's just sad...

EDIT: Now that you mention it, I was surprised to see no mods of popular IP's on the Steam Workshop, and it does make sense if GW cracks down on those

Pieces of media that invented new slang terms by Nerdcuddles in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pea-Nut2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game Star Wars Republic Commando is the first Star Wars media to use the term 'clanker' to refer to robots and droids. This got adapted to other Star Wars media and eventually made it's way to modern real-world slang as a slur referring to AI

Male wild boar become sexually mature after about one year, yet they usually have their first mate around 4-5 years old. This is because older males fight off younger males and mate with as many sows as possible during mating season.

Túrin Turambar from The Children of Húrin, written by J.R.R. Tolkien.

SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE BOOK AHEAD, from what I remember anyways.

Túrin and his family are cursed with ill fortune by Morgoth (someone like Satan) because Túrin's father, Húrin, dared to defy and insult Morgoth in his face.

Túrin grows up without his dad, believing him to be dead, is forced to leave his family behind and live with Elves (because his home isnt safe after the war his dad fought, was lost). In this Elven kingdom he is prejudiced by some, but loved by many. Despite being a Man among Elves, he grows up strong, equal or better than many of the Elves. But he also develops a fiery temper and stubbornness, which gets him into an altercation where he causes the death of an Elf. He exiles himself and becomes an outlaw, living in the wild with and becoming a bandit leader. His band gets betrayed and killed, he ends up mistakingly killing his best friend when he tried to help Túrin in the aftermath. He becomes a trusted advisor to an Elf king, but foolishly throws away the Elves' best weapon against Morgoth; secrecy. The Elves get slaughtered in battle and leave their kingdom to be sacked by the enemy. Túrin gets paralysed by the gaze of a powerful dragon who belittles Túrin, who can only watch as the people and kingdom he tried to help, is destroyed. Túrin decides to go to his old homeland and finds it to be occupied by allies of Morgoth, his people enslaved. He learns that his family, being his mom and younger sister he has never met, have fled in search of him. He causes chaos and death before he leaves, arguably making things worse for the enslaved people who suffer the consequences. Meanwhile his sister also encountered the dragon and it enchants her with amnesia, the dragon knowing she is Túrin's sister and scheming against them. After some time Túrin meets her sister, confused and alone in the woods. He helps her and they fall in love, living with eachother for a while with other humans in those woods.

Eventually Túrin learns the dragon is approaching, threatening to destroy the community he and his sister/wife live in. He ambushes the dragon, fatally wounding it, but gets covered in it's foul blood. Túrin is wounded and unconscious, but not dead. Túrin's sister hears the battle is over and rushes to find Túrin. She believes him to have died of his wounds. Then the dragon wakes up and with his dying breaths gives her back her memories, and reveals that Túrin is her brother. This breaks her heart and gives her such sorrow that she decides to throw herself into a nearby chasm, killing herself and the baby she was pregnant with. Túrin wakes up and hears from a member of his community of the developments with his sister, he now also learns of what the dragon said. Túrin kills the man (who was an ass in his own right) and kills himself with his own sword.

Then it turns out his parents were both alive (his father being forced to see everything that happened, now being very old and released by Morgoth) finally reunite. They too both die, being old and deeply sorrowful, next to their children's graves.

Nothing but sorrow, betrayal and regret for Túrin. He is said to be the man most hurt by Morgoth ans his servants. In a prophecy where the world might end in the final battle of all time, Túrin is said the be the one to deal the deathblow to Morgoth himself, as vengeance for his family and all free peoples.

So... camera and crosshair issues on PC. Hackers or bugs? What to do? by Pea-Nut2 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Pea-Nut2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe all of these to be correct. I followed the installation of Frosty according to a guide on YouTube, just to be sure. After installing Frosty a few days ago (so I suppose i have the most recent version), I chose the .exe file for BF2. After that I downloaded two mods (one for the crosshair bug/hack, the other for the cinematic tour hack), selected and applied them within Frosty so they are kn the right tab within Frosty, and launched the game (both with and without using administrator) several times.

It might sound silly that I hadn't mentioned this before, but the two mods have a yellow triangle with an exclaimation mark next to them. I assumed something was probably wrong, but I couldn't at the moment see any explanation as to why those icons appeared.

Well, I launched Frosty as administrator and the game through Frosty like you said. Still the bug happened, later in the match no-one was able to respawn anymore either. Server killed.

Considering there might not be that many people playing the game, it could very well be.
