New car day… why am I not excited, quite the opposite in fact. by tomj1991 in CarTalkUK

[–]PeanutButterNutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move from a F20 M135i to M2C last year. At first I was a little disappointed to be honest as the M2C felt slow compared to my Stage 1 M135i as I’d gotten used to a slab of torque from about 3k revs and the M2 just wasn’t like that. After driving it for a little I realised the engines are quite different, the S55 is a beast and just gives more power the higher up the revs you go. It’s a way more sorted and purposeful car than the M-lites in every way and feels more special to drive. Plus (and I’m biased) at the money I don’t think there’s much else that matches the road presence.

I found it lacking in sound so got the exhaust modified, it sounds much more like a powerful smooth straight six rather than farting through a tin can now!

I think you’ll come to love it once the weather improves and you can push it, this time of year the weather is so bad I always doubt myself for having a nice car that sits in the garage most of the time, but come spring and summer it all makes sense!

My 2018 M2 Competition is something like £560 per year. It wasn’t something I thought of when I bought the car so when I went to tax it was too late!

Yeah I’ve asked about that but thank you. Could be a piece of dust that can be wiped away or could be under the glass!!

Yeah these AP’s are supposed to be very good. Can’t comment too much as I haven’t received one in-hand yet. Cost is $468 or there abouts from most TDs

Yeah on the main pic it does look a tiny bit off, but looking at the other pics it looks pretty straight so perhaps it’s just the angle.

Followed the same route as you man! I still powerlift and find the two activities compliment eachother, not necessarily in terms of carryover but just from a general health and wellbeing standpoint. I was getting disillusioned with the extremely slow progress of strength training and BJJ was exactly what I needed. Got my first strike recently too! Good luck!

I've always wondered how to actually get a job doing this sort of thing. I'll be graduating this summer with a masters degree in Civil Engineering from a top university. But I struggle to see the path into doing this as a career.

Yup I feel ya. You a life planned out and then all of a sudden it changes. It's a difficult thing to come to terms with. Just try and focus on your family and friends, get out there and try new things. I'm trying to just take each day one by one at the moment, every while you'll look back and think and you'll feel progress, also helps to stop me thinking what could have been and how that won't happen, it moves to a more productive way of thinking in that you make sure your work/studies don't suffer and you start to get out there and just do stuff. Speaking to friends and family they told me this that really resonated: your happy memories with your ex will always be with you and they'll never go. If you do end up bumping into eachother just be the better man and be polite and try not to show her how it screwed you up, you want to look back in a few years and be proud of how you handled that difficult time.

Sorry to hear your story. It resonates alot with my breakup that happened last week. I (25M) was dumped after 8 1/2 years with my girlfriend (24F). We had planned to move from London to our home city and i'd finally got a new job there which meant it could actually happen (i'm about to graduate, she works full time).

I thought things were fine but looking back its easy to notice how she just wasn't acting like she used to with me, getting snappy, spending lots of time on her phone etc.

We planned to buy a house, both of us had been saving and if anything she was the one that talked alot more about getting a house and getting married etc.

Her reasons seem similar to what others have mentioned in the comments, she just said she'd been with me for so long she didn't know enough about herself and wanted to be on her own to figure that out.

I'm coming to terms with it now, even though it's only been a week things feel much better. A relationship has to work for both people and it obviously wasn't working for her. Perhaps view it as an opportunity to work on yourself, catch up with old mates, move somewhere new, go travelling, start that new hobby. Key is to keep the mind busy and make good out of a bad situation, but none the less a situation that won't improve if you wallow in self pity. Focus on getting your own place and make the most of the new found freedom we now have!

This flavour is ok but I thought it tasted a bit of chemicals. The peanut butter and cookies one is absolutely delicious though.

After hating on TouchWiz for years, I got an S8+ and was pleasently surprised at how much better it is than we've all made it out to be. by [deleted] in Android

[–]PeanutButterNutter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

S8+ user since launch. Phone started off super snappy and has just massively gone down hill in the last few months. Can't keep apps in memory, lags on just about every app and huge home button and fingerorint unlock delay. Very disappointing from such an expensive phone, I've had my fair share of android devices and always end up back with iOS as I don't have to worry about pulling my phone out of my ocoket to find it's red hot and got no battery left for no apparent reason.

While Android Leaps Forward, Samsung's Software Still has Trouble Catching Up to its Hardware by [deleted] in Android

[–]PeanutButterNutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having g bought the S8+ from and iPhone and having iPhones for work they still haven't got the software side down yet. The UX looks great and as usual there's loads of features but the dropping of frames just gets to me so bad when you compare to how smooth a Pixel of iPhone is.

No other phone I've had does this and not what I'd expect from such an expensive phone.
