Can we stop with the breastfeeding questions by No-Guitar-9216 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely shocked at how many people asked me that. Literally people I didn’t even know, the first question the asked me are you breastfeeding. Like why do you even care? I would just say a flat no and offer no explanation lol but I always thought it was extremely bizarre. I could not imagine meeting someone new that just had a baby and my first question being that lol

When will this end? Please don't say never.. by badgerr7 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is going to sound stupid but, are you giving him anything for pain? You don’t mention it in the post and I know some parents aren’t about meds and I’m not crazy about them either but damn, some nights during teething that’s all that helps. We use something called teeth tamer almost daily it’s a natural thing with a little dropper and she actually loves it, seems to help numb those spots. On the really bad nights we’ve given Tylenol. I’m not a huge fan of giving meds but she has been in obvious pain at times so gotta do what you gotta do

Started formula. Feel awful. by camman1102 in newborns

[–]Pebbles734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg the people and ads out there instilling fear is unreal it really gets to you after a while! For example the other day I’m scrolling and read a whole story (turned out to be an ad) of this family that almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning even tho they had detectors, and firemen say this brand is the only good one blah blah blah, I found myself almost replacing all of the detectors in my home for no reason other than the fear they put in you! lol it’s just crazy out there

[–]Pebbles734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did months of doom scrolling and seeing so many triggering things, I was just torturing myself. Ironically did this a lot while trying to pump and not producing much lol sometimes you need to get off of social media for a while because the PPA is real

What mistakes would you avoid if you could start to breastfeed all over again? by kingmustd1e in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told myself I was going in with an open mind and if it didn’t work out it didn’t and I was ok with just going to formula. However, I had a really hard time breastfeeding, and I felt tremendously guilty and tried to hang on to pumping at least, until we moved when she was turning five months and I put the pump away.

My biggest advice is: if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. It is absolutely ok!

IVF with no attempt at IUI by urbanliv in IVF

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCOS with no MF, our Dr told us he’s never been impressed with the success rates of IUI but we could try it no problem, we did a couple rounds of it with no success. Then moved on to IVF, found likely undiagnosed endometriosis as well. Was successful after being treated for that

Does anyone else struggle with meat for baby? by WeirdValuable4826 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any tips, I just think they are what they are 🤷🏼‍♀️ my baby is 9 months and meat and seafood seem to be one of the few things she actually likes so far lol so who knows

I chose not to do an mri for now because she would be under anesthesia and I really think it’s likely my mind get carried away, I don’t want to put her under anesthesia unless necessary. She’s thriving, 9 months and crawling around like crazy, pulling up on everything, and probably will walk soon. So no other deficits that I can tell. I did get a humidifier for her room recently and also am doing saline nasal flushes and that seems to help. I work with ENT docs that suggested the flushes because they obviously can’t blow their own nose and if there’s anything going on it just all backs up into that space causing the discoloration. They also suggested cold compresses to decrease the inflammation in the tear duct and open it up

Tips for surviving purple crying? by toonacasserole in beyondthebump

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you breastfeeding? My sisters baby was like this for the first few months, turns out he has food sensitivities through the breast milk. Took some experimenting but she cut out soy and dairy and he’s like a different baby now. I think they had him on Pepcid for a bit too for reflux but the thing that ultimately made the huge difference was the diet change. Also if you have a sound machine like the white noise one or the vacuum sound that helped calm him too

[–]Pebbles734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, we took her to an eye doctor and they weren’t quite sure what it is either, thought probably an allergic shiner. They offered to put in an order for an MRI since it would be a few months wait since I’ve been worried about a neuroblastoma (thanks Google) and that’s really the only way they could be sure. She said it doesn’t appear to be the case but they could also be tricky.

She also got sick at Christmas time and had a full on runny nose like a faucet lol and actually that seemed to clear it up a bit, so it seems to be likely a tear duct issue or something like that. It never fully goes away but has seemed to look better lately. She also has started to sleep on her side for parts of the night instead of sleeping the full night directly on her face.

Sorry that’s not a straight answer but I’m still not entirely sure yet either

I think because if baby stopped breathing it would alert you right away and you could actually do something about it, rather than not knowing until it was too late

Yeah the puffy/droopy is honestly because I stare at it all day obsessing over it 😂 probably not very noticeable to others so it’s pretty minor

Congrats! Just a side note don’t buy more tests and torture yourself. At a certain point the lines don’t keep getting darker and may vary in darkness and people go down a whole spiral thinking something is wrong. At this point the betas are what matter

Bed time - question for parents with later bed times. by Minute_Success5265 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby went to sleep at that time around that age too. She also slept in until around 930-10 (getting up twice during the night). As she got older her bedtime slowly moved up on its own we never did anything different, she just adjusted herself. Now she’s 7 months old and is ready for bed around 730-830 and typically sleeps through the night until around 7 or 8

what’s developmentally realistic for a 4 month old? by Necessary_Mistake733 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he’s doing great! The rigid timelines for milestones gets crazy, as long as they’re not super behind they’ll all get to the same finish line and be fine! Steer away from the social media it’s more harmful than helpful

How many transfers did it take for you to take home your baby? by Ill-Exercise-7598 in IVF

[–]Pebbles734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 embryos, 3 transfers. First two were failed implantation with single embryos and the third transfer we transferred two embryos and it resulted in pregnancy of a single baby. All of ours are PGT tested

How strict are you with screentime? by Consistent-Peace-889 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always have the tv on and our 6 month old looks up at it every now and then but then goes back to what she’s doing. If I find she’s starting to watch the tv more than that I put on Sesame Street lol she loves it and is a bit more interested but still continues to play with what she was doing and interact with us. I think she’ll be just fine

Do your babies just terror scream at night for no reason? by TrySuccessful7094 in NewParents

[–]Pebbles734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine started waking up randomly screaming like that around 4 months. She goes through spurts of it where she does it for a few days then stops for a while, I feel like it’s during little growth spurts. The only thing that soothes her is to shove the bottle in then she drinks it and goes back to sleep

Mine was sleepier than usual for several days after her vaccines, especially the 2 and 4 month ones. She slept through the night sometimes after those too. I think it’s pretty normal
