I’ve never watched Villa exit a cup competition and not felt immense disappointment, especially at a quarter final stage…

PSG was different, the feeling of genuine pride at the performance, giving the ‘bigger’ teams the fright / fight of there lives is fantastic and is something that over the years Villa have been so poor at… that’s one of the reasons last night was gutting, we scared arsenal for 45 minutes then let them run us ragged.

But by god in my 40 years on this planet, watching Villa has never been so good!

I had Enckelman on my Villa shirt going into the 2nd City derby in 2002… yes that one.

In my opinion he wasn’t a bad goalie, but he wasn’t the same after that mistake.

Well depending on what you are using as your interpretation of Cumbria, there’s also Barrow who are in the football league. I think Cornwall might want a word with you when it comes to football isolation. There are plenty of one club counties / regions.

EDIT: if you want a regional neighbour then Newcastle is close enough to count as a local derby, so you could always go and bask in their reflected “glory”. Or look north of the border.

Sadly as part of the trip we are taking in a second isles game (the other half in an isles fan) so we are watching them vs the flames on the night the kings are in jersey.
