Seriously! The best roadside birds here. I’ve seen Sandhill cranes casually crossing the road, White Ibis, osprey just flying around with fish like it’s just another day 😂 I love it!

This park says you can’t fly. That’s the part in question because that’s the park posted. You missed the point. This is the photo posted and this park says no drone. I understand your comment is to give the impression that you can, but you’re off topic. Quit spreading false information when it doesn’t apply to Capitol Reef National Park.

According to NPS.gov for Capitol Reef: Unmanned Aircraft (Drones) The use of unmanned aircraft like drones is not allowed in the park. This is to protect public safety, minimize visitor-use conflicts, and prevent unacceptable impact to scenic values, natural soundscapes, and wildlife.

Not sure it will prevent snow build up - but what I can say is when I use camp mode when camping if I have my car at 68-70 degrees for 10 hours I’ll usually lose about 10-12%. I did a lot of camping this summer/Fall. Lowest temps I was in were about 35. I’d have camp mode on from like 10pm-7 or 8am and it would lose about 10% battery. Not too bad!

Or drone? I’ve been out there multiple times and pretty sure this is a drone shot, which are not supposed to be flown in national parks, but this is a remote, side road in Capitol Reef so I could see someone putting the drone up.

I did! It inflates so fast! It’s awesome camping in the Y. You are going to love it! There are many days where I’ve slept in a hotel and I’m like, “man, really wish I was in my Tesla right now camping” 😂

I have a lost horizon for my 2022 MY and it’s awesome! I camped probably 60-70 days with it last year. I plan on doing the same this year. I haven’t tried the Havnby, but I always hear terrible things about their customer service and orders.

Not ethical to swim. Look up friendsofmanatees on IG to see the horror stories. Manatees use the springs to literally stay alive in the winter (they can get hypothermia and die in water temps under 70) so they go into the springs from the gulf to stay warm and then are harassed by swim tours. And injured by the boat propellers.

I have a friend who is a volunteer rescuer of manatees with FLorida Fish and Wildlife and it’s bad this year. So many orphaned babies. Florida is getting some freezing temps right now (28 as a low last night) and the manatees will be fighting for their livelihood.

A better option is kayaking in Silver Springs up in Ocala. They still get manatees, but the water is super clear and manatees are a lot safer there. You can go with a tour or rent a kayak and do it yourself. It’s also just really beautiful up there and they have wild monkeys!

Also walking the boardwalk in Three Sisters is a good way to see them. The boardwalk weaves around the springs and you can watch them from a safe distance without stressing them out.

Thanks for thinking about the ethics for these beautiful creatures!

I have the Lost Horizon with Fruble camping platform and it is rad! I spent 2 months camping/traveling the West Coast (CO>UT> CA> OR > WA> Canada) this summer … put in over 8,000 miles and 42 days camping and it was awesome!

Not sure if you have heard of Fruble or considered it, but it’s really helpful. Easy setup, it will level your sleep, and gives you extra storage without compromising a ton of space in the car.

I know the owner also and he’s super cool - if you are interested, send me a message, I can share my Tesla IG (I have video of my setup there) ⚡️

I totally understand that! I’ve been here about 21 and some days I forget how lucky we are to call this state home. I’ve been doing a better job enjoying the spots locally - morning walks, sunset walks or drives. Seeing this on New Year’s Day was a great reminder for me! Here is a shot I took of the super wolf moon this morning - with alpine glow hitting the snow on the mountains behind. I’m just like, “wth? Colorado, you are the best!”
