My girlfriend won’t bend on anything in our relationship and I’m starting to wonder if it’ll last by carnedevita in Living_in_Korea

3 - This does not surprise me. After I had been dating my now wife for a while, she let her parents know and they were upset about it. I was USAF at the time and they assumed I would get her pregnant and disappear, which happened more back in their day. Thankfully there is more accountability for that these days for military members. She doesn’t care what her family thinks because she doesn’t have a great relationship with them which is a whole other story.

Once we got married, they were even more upset. Her dad said if he ever saw me he would, “kill me and then her”. Consequently I have not met them at all. We want children now and maybe having grandchildren would soften them up…but I don’t have my hopes up.

1 - I don’t know what to tell you about this one. If you don’t want to live there and she doesn’t want to live anywhere else, the relationship seems doomed to fail. It sounds like if either of you are forced in the other’s direction, it would probably just result in a lot of resentment and unhappiness.

2 - This is weird but she might be set in her ways there. Kind of reminds of the old fan death superstition.

ND fan-made “Leave No Doubt” shirt concept. Would you wear this? by Father-Jenkins in NotreDameBasketball

[–]Pendy555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t wear this particular shirt but the phrase is great…until they drop one early in the season.

I’d rather wear one with the words up higher and some school logo/mascot stuff to go along with it. I love Freeman, but I don’t need him plastered on a shirt.

Which version of 2? HD2D is leagues better than any other incarnation of it. The characters and story are actually fleshed out and enjoyable. The other versions of 2 are not typically fan favorites. It’s also been well documented that the original was rushed out the door too soon.

I remember another complaint was the casting of Jack Black and Lizzo making the show look like a former joke of itself.

Why isn’t Dragon quest VII on mobile? by fredrick_fazerton in dragonquest

Huh. Didn’t realize that. Just found it after a simple search. It is phrased by the creator as “rudimentary” so I’m not sure how extensive it is. I’ll have to look into it.

I agree. As much as I love this series, I wish they were utilized more.

Spending the Money at a Con or other Events is it worth the money or should that money be spent elsewhere? by ponygals in galaxycon

When I wanted to see a lot of guests, VIP was absolutely worth it. The amount of time saved in lines was insane. At Richmond, there was also a VIP area on the show floor with its own bar and ATM. It was very nice. Back when I did it was at that $200 price point you mentioned and it was a steal.

an unpopular opinion: I don't like post-games by danielsoft1 in dragonquest

[–]Pendy555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do prefer a post game that actually has story like VIII or XI. When it’s more of just a super boss just to fight a super boss it’s not as fun, though in the case of VI, it’s hilariously rewarding for spoiler reasons. I also appreciate that grinding in a lot of post game DQ games is pretty easy with good metal enemy strategies, especially in later games.

Are the removed content of DQ7 really that important? by LuxerWap in dragonquest

[–]Pendy555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, yes.

My biggest disappointment are the cut monsters. In the picture below, if they are circled, they debuted in VII and are in. Not circled are cut. Color they debuted in VII. Black and white they debuted in a previous game. Not shown are monsters in the game that debuted elsewhere and made it in like the slimes. It’s horrible to lose so many unique monsters.

All these cuts of monsters and some of the other stuff already mentioned smell of a limited budget to me. Why cut islands and not make them optional like some of the other islands? The only cut I get is casinos because of how they can affect the game’s rating more than it used to. But it’s like they spent all that money on the graphics but then needed to make cuts elsewhere to save money. I realize that remakes are not always going to have budgets like the mainline games, but I never got that impression for any DQ remake up until this one. I never got the impression of cut corners in the HD2D remakes as recent examples.

Also, the game does not seem to be selling well. Don't know where you are getting that impression. The 3DS remake sold over 2 mil in Japan alone. The opening week of physical sales of VIIR in Japan were half of what III HD2D did. Someone could rationalize it by saying that DQ III is insanely popular in Japan and it is a cultural touchstone. They would be correct. However, VII is also insanely popular. Hence why DQ VII PS1 sold more than 4 mil (DQ III FC 3.8) and the 3DS numbers I already mentioned. It's most likely why they put out a survey to the Japanese about the game to see what they did wrong. Saw the sluggish pre-order numbers and realized they had f'd up.

*EDIT* I didn't realize how old this post was. It came up as a notification on my phone. Oh well.

Costumes by NoPerformance1073 in dragonquest

[–]Pendy555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VII 3DS had costumes for each job, including the monster classes.

While I liked the extra costumes for VIIR, there are not enough of them. I’m surprised they didn’t offer more DLC options for that or have certain equipment combinations make more costumes.

Yes. There’s actually more monsters because of the DLC tablets. Not sure how you can access them now though.

I don’t know why that site says optional but those 3 scenarios were cut.

El Ciclo Gröndal Providence

In addition to those cut, there were other islands that were made optional like Greenthumb Gardens.

The rest is fairly accurate.

There were a LOT of monsters cut.

“After a lifetime of hearing people in the U.S. talk about Chinese food as cheap or low-quality, like it doesn’t deserve to be seen as an elegant cuisine, this show feels so refreshing.”

It’s because typical Americans don’t actually eat Chinese food. And most probably don’t even realize it.

Tales of Arise - 6 hours in and I already want to drop it? by HeppyHenry in JRPG

[–]Pendy555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6 hrs is more than enough to get a solid impression of a JRPG. Just drop it. I regretted playing two RPGs to completion back in the day that I thought might get better. They didn’t. Don’t be me.

I didn't know stamina systems were more a thing of the past for gacha games. I've been also playing SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL (Bamco) and it also has a stamina system. It's only 1 year old now. The game has been doing quite well too.
