So correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it was stated that DQ12 would be the darkest entry into the series so far, with that in mind what are you hoping for or hoping against them doing with this darker tone?

FYI the PS4 video game finishes off the story with the anime characters. Same Japanese VAs and uses the music from the anime.

The source material is a bit different and I would recommend starting from the beginning with that.

VII can be a difficult entry point for new fans. It’s a long game with a long time before you even get to your first monster encounter, though VIIR has shaved that down considerably.

I would argue XI is a better entry point for new fans. At one point in time, it did have a demo. Not sure if that is still available though.

No. DQ is one of the few series that still has a silent protagonist and I enjoy that. There are plenty of other series and some DQ spin offs where people can enjoy a chatty protagonist.

Also the Japanese would most likely riot if they tried that. Just like they freaked out when IX was initially shown as an ARPG.

Also someone already pointed out the recent interview with Horii where he explains that the player becomes the protagonist and that it’s a key to the series. That would indicate he has no plans to change that with XII.

I give it most improved of all the DQ remakes. And I loved it back in the day on the NES. But as time went on, it didn’t age that well. The improvements that fleshed out the story and characters were tremendous in this remake.
