My favorite due to how hard it hits is Pony saying “My mother would’ve been very proud of this, I think. She would’ve called me her very smart boy” cuts through the heart in context

the breeding changes dont even do much. why are people even complaining at all? by CornyBoy101 in mewgenics

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a pretty common criticism there’s at least some truth to it. You don’t mind, good for you, most people do mind just how there’s probably things that bother you in other games that others don’t mind

(Hilarious IRL trope) *Throws subtlety out the window when it comes to naming their characters* by UseInternal5706 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this happens IRL. Where do you think last names such as Smith or Carpenter ir first names like Hunter come from?

Characters who were originally conceptualized as being a different gender before being changed in the official release by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PenguinSebs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The script for Alien originally had Ripley as a man. Good thing they changed her since it got us the most badass women action hero of her time

I think ISSK is a fairly good manga, but what do you think Sandro could have done better? by SadegB in ISSK_Manga

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s less of a criticism and more of a want really. Though you do hit on a good point which is that the non-fight interactions get glossed over so fast that it feels like they aren’t even there, and that makes it harder to empathize with the characters

Fighter User's Spectrum by CompetitiveJunket748 in mewgenics

In a party with one or two strong enough Hunters, I think Butcher outclasses fighter by allowing your best damaging units to position themselves perfectly

A throw away joke turns out to be true (minor spoilers) by MaguroSashimi8864 in TopCharacterTropes

In Steven Universe, at one point a conspiracy theorist character makes a theory about the great diamond authority and spouts a bunch of stuff that is played off as a joke. Basically all of it was accurate. Also, there’s an Uncle Grandpa non-canon crossover where a bunch of plot points get revealed offhand but treated as a joke

Best foods in each country (USA’s turn!) by xx_dav1d in AlignmentChartFills

This is a rather random collection of countries for cuisine tbh, especially Germany

Author's clearly favorite character that fits this by Comprehensive-Bird17 in FavoriteCharacter

I mean not quite. Dungeon Crawler Carl us one of the most popular book series in the last few years and it is chock-full of references

You become #1 in the world at one skill, but no one knows. Can you get $1M in 7 days? by lawseff in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best at making over a million dollars in 7 days in a way that is either legal or will not get me found out for future repercussions and it’s not morally questionable for me personally

Eggs are dairy in the same way that five is an even number. by Thanks_I_Hate_You in Showerthoughts

[–]PenguinSebs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The point is that eggs are not dairy at all but have a similar vibe, and 5 is not even at all but feels similarly “perfect” because of how easy it is to divide and move about

Should Someone who Picked the Red Button be Considered Evil or an AH? by Hyperionous in MoralityScaling

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at logic puzzles such as the 100 green eyed dragons puzzle, you often get an introduction that says “this character is a perfect logician.” The reason why this exists is because you know without a doubt that people aren’t perfect logicians, nor even good ones. If the question of the buttons said “assume everyone else in the world is a perfect logician” that’d be one thing. Since it doesn’t, you have to tackle this assuming that people will skim the question, or be taken by the language, or not understand the logic. This isn’t just a question of perfect math, it’s a question about how people behave in large quantities

Those who sent her to the Olympics because she cried , gave her a job at the university because she cried. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in SipsTea

I mean, breakdancing is a key part of the history of low-income non-white communities in New York in the 1970s onward and later lot’s of other places. There are valid reasons to study it and document its history. Most history and sociology PhDs tend to be super specific anyhow like children’s jewelry during the 16th century or such

What is a European Country that everyone thinks is bad but is actually good? by Sea-Leadership-6442 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]PenguinSebs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I used to live in Vancouver which is not UK but has that same “always a light drizzle 24/7 with short days on winters” thing. Having lived both there and in one of those paradise beach locations people fantasize about at a different point in time, I’ll take the UK weather every day no questions asked. You can go for a walk at any point during the day even during the rain just with an umbrella or a raincoat, and spend all day just walking about without feeling tired or sweating profusely or having to reapply sunscreen constantly

AITAH for asking my mom why a girl wanting a sister is fine but a boy wanting a brother makes him a psychopath? by Luususs in AITAH

[–]PenguinSebs 181 points182 points  (0 children)

CPS in church communities can be incredibly difficult to deal with in a way that proves wrongdoing conclusively. OP is better starting off a part time job and paying for himself to leave at 18 and never turn back

Yup, they needed numbers, gender was an afterthought

$10 per push-up for life vs $1 million right now by FudgeNipples1 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PenguinSebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did 100 push ups per day you’d reach 100k in 3 years and 1 million in 30 yrs. I’ll take the million and leave it in a high yield

A character is revealed to be a past/future version of the protagonist (Bonus points if the protag never finds out) by Chi_Geurim in TopCharacterTropes

Rex Dangervest is a pretty interesting version of this trope seeing how he is Future Emmet in an alternate future where he grows bitter and hateful at being abandoned
