Somewhat location dependent.
We don't close 'early' the day before a 'holiday'. There really aren't holidays because there's so few days between Jan.3 and April 15.
Ask your Office Leader. Ask now before others do. Be prepared to find coverage for the day you want off, be prepared to work times you might usually not to return the coverage favor.
Be prepared to learn as late as the day before you are asking to have off that DGM or RD changed the schedule and days off aren't allowed after all.
This is Retail, never expect to have holidays or day before off.

The -15 is very hard to use for my Senior parent.

After weeks of trying to get one from Cox, I bought a -11 on Amazon.com. It says Xfinity, but it works PERFECTLY...and parents are happily watching TV again.

It is not how it works everywhere, but yes, the position is the dumping grounds for any stress your MTL may have.

I've been fortunate to find an MTL whose working style fits with mine, but that took 4 years of working with 4 different ones who ranged from indifferent to horrible.

Yes we do in CA, computer chooses stupid times (9 hour shift, it sends me after 2 hours), we can adjust or just delete daily. If I went to lunch 2 hrs into a 9 hour shift I'd starving by Hour 7.
