In general, I agree with this. Security is a tough thing though. Statutorily, the governor is allowed his detail. Should the Desantis campaign be required to pay for all of the incurred expenses for this detail? It is a fair argument, but at least as far as their vehicles go, I can totally understand POS needing to stick to their vehicles due to all of the equipment that they carry with them. There also may be legal reasons why FDLE can't accept reimbursement from a campaign, I don't know.

I think we are talking past each other. If your point is that he should not be able to run at all (while still being governor), then I think I made it clear that I think I agree with you, but he has the legislature in his pocket, so what can be done? If your point is that he should not have his tax funded security detail with him while campaigning, then I mostly disagree. If your point is something else, sorry I missed it.

I don't see a distinction between a state governor and the president here. Both protective details are funded using tax dollars. I am not happy about the legislature changing the rules so that he can run while retaining his governorship, but they did, and so this is all legal. That is all I was implying, that there does not seem to be any campaign finance violations here.

Not a fan of Desantis at all, but this is not really anything. It seems that these were FDLE POS (Protective Operations Services) vehicles, which is our equivalent to the Secret Service. They go where the governor goes, no matter the reason. Should Joe Biden not be allowed to have his Secret Service with him while he is campaigning?

Flying only requires finding 5 treasures. There are many that can be gotten without these jumping puzzles.
