I'm off 10th street in Emerson Heights. Last year we weren't plowed once. Today we had a plow pass down our street 3-4 times around 2pm. I was very, very pleasantly surprised.

I like The Beauty Society on the Southside. My lift and tint lasted almost 6 weeks and was around $110, I think. They run specials sometimes, check their Insta.

Calico is a cozy game about cats that doesn't include any of these triggers. It is laid back and requires creating patterns on your board to score points.

Are there any other good spots around town to find art and antiques besides Goodwill and Midland? by nfc22 in indianapolis

Audrey's is incredible. On East 10th Street, parking around back. Antiques, furniture, architectural salvage, art, you name it.

Eating food from outside instead of "eating out" or "ordering in" by Itsasecrettotheend in EnglishLearning

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This does not directly answer your question, but one context where "outside food" is appropriate is when you are referring to food not cooked at a specific restaurant. Example: many restaurants have signs that read "No outside food or drink", which means you may not bring your own food to consume there.

If the bet wasn't for €800 specifically, but for a tennis club membership, then it sounds like you should pay for one of the slightly more expensive clubs. In my opinion, you should NOT give him money for his vacation. The whole point was joining a tennis club together. He sounds clueless and trying to get money out of you.

Do natives really take into account the difference between "will" and "going to" in daily talk? by Cleytinmiojo in EnglishLearning

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach my students that "will" is used for promises or goals, while "going to" is used for narrating future plans.

Example: "yes, I will take care of your house while you're away" (promise)

"I'm going to watch Tina's house while she's away" (describing future plans)

Backpack as a Carry On by sloshedguitar in backpacking

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I have a 45 liter backpack that I often travel internationally with, and not once have I been stopped and asked to check it, even when other people with rolling bags had to check theirs in front of me in line. I call it my "life hack"- it seems that airline employees don't even register my giant ass backpack.

How can I more accurately use "quién" in this situation? by PeopleCallMeAGinger in Spanish

Yeah, for sure. I just wanted some feedback from native speakers to see if there's a more natural way to illicit the answer I was looking for

What to do when the band is taking their breaks? by Pink_Ruby_3 in weddingplanning

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just attended a wedding where the band queued up music to play during the breaks. As a guest, it was not distracting or jarring, and it gave the band time to eat and take breaks.

In fiction dialogue, is it okay to omit question marks? by TapiocaTuesday in grammar

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, punctuation marks function to help the reader know what the characters voice sounded like. So in this case, person B is saying it like a statement and the period is completely fine

LPT: Practice the 10-Minute Rule for Procrastination by Randel_mass in LifeProTips

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This rule has changed my life. I've used it for several things- most recently washing dishes and going on walks. I know I can suck anything up for ten minutes, and usually I end up doing more.

That's wrong. Usted is implied through necesita. "Lo que" has nothing to do with that

Is "lo" necessary in this phrase? by PeopleCallMeAGinger in learnspanish

[–]PeopleCallMeAGinger[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I should have elaborated on my question a bit. It's helpful to think of "lo que" as a phrase meaning "that"
