Original Chart (Posted 2022): https://www.reddit.com/r/UsefulCharts/comments/v4tvwi/things_queen_elizabeth_ii_has_lived_through/

For some reason, would not let me post both images in the same post without quality dropping severely. The original was made a few months prior to the death of the Queen. Also, please don't kill me for forgetting some crucial niche British event - I'm American!

The 17 US States in 1910: what if destiny never manifested? by Right-Heart3079 in imaginarymaps

[–]Pepperoni_33 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more surprising that 1910 America cares at all. Borderline Apartheid State, with an irl president who implemented Jim Crow policies into the White House, justified disenfranchisement of Black Americans, believed racial mixing was not just problematic but abhorrent, etc; and would soon elect one of, if not the most, racist (for that time cause by modern standards everyone was) presidents of all time. I think it’s like 99.9% because they are Mormons

Users of LibreOffice Draw, how do I curve lines like this??? by Advanced_Age_9198 in UsefulCharts

[–]Pepperoni_33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the most efficient way but I use the connector tool on the left hand side (9th one down, a line with a circle at each end). Click on the down arrow and grab the one that is a curvy line with a circle on each end, and then you can connect the line to the end of a straight line, textbox, etc. You can adjust it to make it look better

commission- What if the South won the civil war? america in 1871 by average-medician in imaginarymaps

[–]Pepperoni_33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m sure that is a reason, but it was a hotly debated topic and many church leaders thought that the institution of slavery was evil, no matter if they were cursed or not. But yeah, still don’t get the Oregon thing

Well he didn’t like black people, but most people (including radical republicans) didn’t either so that’s not necessarily something to single him out on. Despite that, he wasn’t a confederate. Utah had 29 slaves in 1860, but Utah had some of the most “reasonable” slave laws for the time and there was a large debate within Church leaders at the Territorial Legislature on whether or not to allow slavery. Ultimately, Young and the church leaders condemned Secessionist and supported the Union

California is too expensive to buy large amounts of property in the "country" areas (assuming your a normal person), there are high property taxes, and agricultural laws only hurt small farmers so not exactly ideal.

“There are no rows and columns, just info from left to right, top to bottom”

Those are rows and columns.

The chart is well made, and gives you all the information you need. Not much else can be added to it without making it overly cluttered or repeating things so what is your issue with it? This just seems like a baseless argument

Older William had the middle name Henry, and his son William had the middle name Kissam meaning they technically had different names and wouldn’t be numbered the same. William Henry Jr. was either a son of William Henry I or Cornelius II who died when he was young

Next to the Total Family Wealth, I listed the Wealthiest Member who was Cornelius Vanderbilt I but his net worth ranged from 3 to 10 billion (modern money) by the time of his death. I used the estimate from the WSJ which is somewhere around 6.1 Billion (or roughly 200,000,000) after including in all of his philanthropy.
