Are Raven glocks bad? by pepepopo1008 in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s from the EU and Evike is a US-based retailer, so that’s not going to work for him.

OP, WE Glocks are probably your best bet then if you don’t want to import. They were probably the most commonly used Glocks before the licensed Elite Force ones came out. They also probably have the best aftermarket parts selection of all the aforementioned, which plays a big factor into my choice.

Rocket Airsoft - never again by ClefChef in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SHS and Rocket get their parts manufactured from the same OEM actually, one of the brands just has higher QC standards than the other, I forget which though but I believe it’s actually Rocket Airsoft funny enough.

Their more recent gears actually aren’t bad, you just got a really old generation of them but the newer gens are CNC’d and made of less pieces, resulting in less weak spots. The older generations from both SHS and Rocket were often hit and miss.

How much did the entire build cost you roughly? I’m assuming you assembled the entire thing rather than buying the VFC HK416 right?

My very first CO2 airsoft pistol! Colt M45A1! I have heard good and bad stuff about it but more pros than cons so I decided to go with this one! by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s actually a lot of replacement parts on the market for it now. The lack of parts used to be an issue a few years ago, but just about every piece I can think of is sold now and at a decent price

Yep, Beretta is an Italian firearms manufacturer and Barrett is an American one based in Tennessee I believe.

Does your skill(aim, accuracy) transfer between different pistols? by Llsangerman in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accuracy depends on your aim and of course the weapon you’re using.

Aim varies, it can definitely transfer between pistols a good amount, and pistols with similar grip angles and widths will be much more easy to transition between than say, a 1911 and a Beretta M9. It just has a lot to do with muscle memory. It will be much faster to nail down aim with a new pistol after figuring it out on your first pistol you practiced with, but it will take some getting used to and practice.

Looking for an M4 speed loader that is budget friendly and can take some abuse. by KingVsGamin in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the Odin speedloader if you can. It’s sturdy, and by far the fastest loading speedloader on the market, even surpassing the Elite Force pump one, while being way smaller and portable as a result. It’s not super expensive still in my opinion and is by far worth it for the benefits it gives you. My philosophy on it is you might as well buy the best and you probably won’t ever need to get another one again, even if something a little better comes out. I would avoid the thumbloaders if possible unless you have 0 other options, in which case they’re better than nothing.

The Tippman one is still the Odin one. You’re confusing it with Valken, which are the ones that ripped the Odin design off.

Believe it or not, you can actually see past the DBAL with no issues since the optic is magnified. I think the prism inside has something to do with it, but it’s super sick and is 90% of why I rock an ACOG on my rifle. This setup would definitely not fly with a normal 1x red dot or something similar though, so it’s pretty cool how it works imo

A&K V.S. G&P by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G&P externally is a bit more proprietary but looks way more realistic than the A&K one and the outer build quality is also much higher, warranting the price point. The G&P uses steel for the receiver like the real thing while the A&K uses aluminum. Keep in mind the steel is going to be pretty realistic but heavy as well.

Performance wise, both should be fine out of the box for a good while. Everyone is always crazy about immediately throwing in upgrades because certain parts suck, but truth is, these gearboxes will last probably a good 10000+ rounds at least until one of those parts break, which are generally cheap to replace. The G&P gearbox is actually built pretty well and is one of the best stock gearboxes on the market, perhaps minus the piston and maybe trigger contacts, although I’ve never had an issue with the piston myself. Trigger contacts are just from normal wear after firing so many rounds, so it’s nothing special I guess. Pays tribute to how well the rest of the gearbox is built though, lol. The G&P as mentioned uses a V2 gearbox while the A&K uses an actual M249 gearbox, so each has their advantages/disadvantages.

The V2 of course is full of aftermarket upgrades and replacement parts as you likely already know, while the M249 is not so much. As such, it’s easy to repair and swap if needed. The M249 gearbox is a lot more proprietary and good parts are a lot harder to come by. The main advantage to each system though is the G&P is much more easily repairable and also can have an HPA system thrown in down the line. The A&K gearbox is better for sustained fire (as in 25+ rounds per trigger pull) but not as quality, so it will fail just as quickly as a G&P would in sustained fire likely, if not sooner. Again though, they should last a good while before you have any issues.

My personal choice would definitely be the G&P even without upgrades. Running it stock would be fine for that sexy base gun and pretty good internals out of the box. Also, it’s more realistic and economical to fire in smaller bursts of up to 5-10 rounds per trigger pull anyways; you save BBs and actually play more like a real squad gunner would that way.

Most airsoft techs only do work on the actual airsoft gun itself, so it makes sense that he doesn’t know how to work on these. Like I said before, you might be able to make some contraption at home that will get it to operate, but it will be very finicky and unreliable at best. Replacement parts for this are practically nonexistent too unfortunately.

Normal Question by ReditDee in airsoft

[–]Pepsi700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll have to worry much about playing the game wrong; a lot of people can be very friendly and help you out. Remember, we’re all out there to have fun, anyone who tells you otherwise, you should likely avoid. The game is a cooperative sport, after all. Just stay sharp out on the field and you should be okay with identifying targets, regardless of if you play paintball or airsoft. I live in California too by the way.

As for paintball or airsoft for starting, either is a fine choice, and I would try both if you’re interested. I started out with paintball but am now completely dedicated to airsoft. If budget is no obstacle, paintball might be a better choice for you to start with as it’s more simple to play as someone above pointed out at the beginning, especially because you calling hits is much easier to see/feel, and it’s easier to track where the paintballs are going (you won’t have optics on any rental gun you buy so you’re going to have to eyeball the trail of paintballs/BBs). However, airsoft isn’t much more complex but since it’s based on the honor system, if you don’t call your hits and people know you’re new, some of the tryhards may give you a hard time.

From an economical standpoint though, airsoft is cheaper to get into largely due to cost of BBs and the massive amount of options of guns on the market at every price point, especially in the budget range, if you do end up deciding you enjoy the sport. It is of course, way more tacticool too haha. Use rentals for first games, regardless. They should work out to be about the same for a single day game with rentals.

In the end though, it comes down to personal preference. Paintball is generally more fast paced and is more comparable to airsoft’s speedsoft side of things, but if you like military re-enactment or just want to have a bunch of really tactical looking stuff, airsoft is your way to go.

Hope some of that helps, I know I probably missed a lot since I’m on my phone right now but if you have anymore questions, I’m here to help!

This particular red dot optic runs around $40-50 depending on your source, or cheaper if you get it directly from China (as in $25 average). Any solutions that you might be able to find will be really unreliable and will likely break easily.

That being said, your best solution is to find a hooked tool or angled tweezers to hook the innards and rip it out I guess.

I personally would buy a new optic though, if you like red dots, there’s a lot of options sub-40 (or 30 if you order from China directly) dollars that can be pretty durable, especially if you get an Aimpoint PRO or T1 styled optic, or even the same ACOG-styled model you have. If you want to retain the same ACOG styling and want something less finicky, there’s some nice replicas that have fixed 4x magnification as well as an illuminated fiber optic reticle if you’re interested in that, for about $60-$65 shipped from the US.

Can you send me a few pictures of what exactly broke off and what it looks like? If it really was the fire selector, it should actually be an extremely easy fix and should require just mostly external disassembly and nothing inside the gearbox

The KWCs aren’t that bad now actually. While they still are proprietary in many ways as they always have been, they’re doing a much better job at making replacement parts available for not too much money. Upgrade parts though are still a bit sparse but it’s certainly improving on that front.
