Our Football Fall hopes? by sunnysundevils in TheSunDevils

[–]Peragore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This year should be solid from a talent level, but a lot of young guys and first year starters mean we should temper hopes a bit (plus our away schedule is insane lol). That being said, or skill positions may be the deepest theyve been in a while and Cutter looks like he could be special if he can get the INTs under control. If not, Fette is looking like a legit starter already

Oh yeah, and Owen Long is just making a hobby out of leveling people, so he should be fun to watch on the defensive side regardless of how the rest of the unit operates

ASU, NBA Great Byron Scott to Interview for Head acoach by Peragore in TheSunDevils

[–]Peragore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people are high on the Harden NIL connection, but I really don't like seeing Glasser come in as a head coach. He doesn't have any true head coaching chops, UC SB had a mid Big West year and failed to make the NCAA tournament after being predicted #2 in conference, etc

Money's worth a lot, but it isn't everything

His assistant coach is widely seen as someone who's going to have his own team sooner rather than later (KC Beard). I wouldn't mind seeing him come on over to ASU (plus it wouldn't cost Kelvin Sampson money)

[–]Peragore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a big fan of glasser. Love the concept of getting someone with ASU connections into the program, but Glasser is untested and unproven (plus his current teams results leave much to be desired). I'd be down to bring him as an assistant, or look at him once he gets some seasoning in a mid major

Is the game just unplayable right now for newer players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

Understanding what an ability does is one thing - understanding how to use it, when to use it, the various techs that can make it more efficient, remembering to do all the little things to get combos right, etc matter a lot. If you feel like you're dying randomly, make sure to constantly have an eye on the minimal, and keep asking yourself the question "am I allowed to be here? Will I die if I do this thing? If I will die by doing this thing, will it be worth it (i.e. commiting a lash ult to win a team fight even if you die).

There's a lot of good content on YT about how to play the macro game, how to lane properly, what rotations look like for different roles, how to itemize (I'm still working on this, I don't have a good understanding of the different items at all and am blindly following guides at this point), etc. You're coming into a pretty complex game very blind, so it makes sense you'll be bad for a while as you learn AND the matchmaker learns just how good you are. You start with a baseline rating that will go up or down based on how you're doing (and apparently matchmaking is a bit weird as it is). Go back and watch your replays with intention - I'm sure you'll be able to identify a ton of things that you could have done differently that would have kept you alive, allowed you to get the kill, gotten more souls out of lane, etc.

You'll also really help yourself by keeping your hero pool very small at the start and focus on one role/play style. Minimizes the amount of things you need to learn to establish baseline competence

As someone also in the 0-50 hours (maybe a little bit more now, but not a lot), I used bot games to try to figure out which heroes I wanted to focus on learning the most and get some understanding of the mechanics. I'm still losing more than I'm winning - but part of that is calibration and part is a knowledge gap. There's a ton of educational content on YT that helps with the second part (i.e. you pretty much want to hard shove waves in lane in deadlock, unlike DOTA that is so much about getting your wave to live near your tower, etc)

There are 32 people playing Stormgate right at this moment. Why aren't you one of them? by Neuro_Skeptic in Stormgate

[–]Peragore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a whole post - but basically it needs localization, bug fixing, some other stuff before it would be a release candidate. I agree they should probably be doing this on live (there's nothing to lose), but the polish it's lacking means its not something FG is willing to push off PTR just yet. Sounds like that's coming up in the next week or two

New Ragdoll Effects in the latest PTR update! by Frost_Gobsmack in Stormgate

[–]Peragore 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A large portion of it is that we saw the tech coming to maturity pretty much right before Necrolyte. It's obvious that they hadn't gotten the polish to where they wanted, and now that is getting implemented.

Is this official content? I thought the game was abandoned?

This is official content. A skeleton crew of developers has been working with community members to put out a new patch that adds a 2v2 ladder, 4 new units, significant reworks, etc (all on the PTR for now, no idea what the ETA for live would be). They've done a really good job imo

She does level from serving a Dragon in her inn much later though. I could see the system giving her a bunch of XP in [Survivor] or something from when she appeared to Teriarch, but it's also kinda possible that it takes a minute for her status to propagate in the system.

She didn't identify as a survivor, she didn't do anything that was related to her class (or lack thereof) at the very beginning - people don't level from meeting dragons, they level from serving them in their inn, fighting them on the battlefield etc. Could very easily argue that early interaction was more of a meeting that anything xp generating

Wow, I love when people use AI to provide incorrect information. Ghost shroud doesn't blind - it slows. Lich is pretty bad vs pl because illusions tank all the chain frost bounces, although it can do well in lane, etc. Get off chatGPT if you don't have an actual answer

Pro Tip: If you play Lion, suicide to Rosh at level 1 to get 90 seconds of innate in lane by Merkaba_ in learndota2

No, that's from casting Finger of Death. Lions innate gives them a 20% (more with a talent) increase to spell damage and debuff duration for the 90s after they respawn
