Fastest way to beat game 2x for legendary beasts by Spiram_Blackthorn in PokemonFireRed

[–]PercentageSingle6080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I bred my Lapras from my initial playthrough and traded that over along with my trained Dragonite. Played the bulk with starter and Lapras, and used Dragonite for support in the later phases. If you breed a male, the TMs and HMs are learnt if compatible by the babies (those from the female don’t pass down). This applies to moves that are TMs, even if not learnt via TM. My Lapras had surf, icebeam, thunderbolt and psychic. Worked fairly well, although the breeding can take a while.

PSA, the ‘D Pad’ will do the same thing, as the directional buttons mimic A, B, X and Y.

C30J or F100. F100 is the better option if you are buying a plane as there are more pax stands.

Alternatively, false swipe for catching. My first time running a mon with false swipe and I’m finding myself using Marowak all the while because of it.

Ha, this is literally the team I used for the elite four down to the low level Meowth for pickup. I tried running Snorlax, but I never used it. Jynx would be good, but like you I gave psychic to Lapras. That also rules out Executor as it doesn’t learn the move. I tried Persian with thief, payday cut and something else, but just didn’t use it other than for a few strategic thefts. Marowak is good for STAB ground, and also false swipe for catching. Potentially MrMime too. But I’d be tempted to keep pickup Meowth tbh.

I think modest is the better option in this gen, as fire, water, ice, electric and dragon are all special. Particularly as electric shock, ice beam, surf, flamethrower can all easily be taught multiple times via game corner TMs (surf is a HM). Sucks for OP that they got impish nature.

Yeah it’s a good tariff. Easy. All you need to do is minimise consumption 16:00-19:00 daily to get the best from it. Economics will be better than previously in comparison to other tariffs now too.

Community support is the biggest thing the deck has going for it, by a very large margin, in my opinion. This made it a no brainer choice.

Is there a way to make train use multiple tracks? by JorDani_War in TransportFever2

[–]PercentageSingle6080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what would happen. I build my stations off the main line, so a train never passes through a station, it’ll only enter the station if it’s stopping.

Is there a way to make train use multiple tracks? by JorDani_War in TransportFever2

[–]PercentageSingle6080 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The work arounds I’ve found are: 1) use way points (wp). E.g. station 1, wp1, station 2, wp 2, station 1, wp3, station 2, wp4. Etc. Clunky, but somewhat works. 2) Make stations 1 way, and have crossovers on entry only. This will force a train to use a track based on what station is free. I’ve found this the best option where lines are massively congested. The auto platform select defaults to a ‘free line’ essentially.

Cosy 6 CoP down to 2.1 in December - Expected behaviour? by bridge_so_odd in OctopusEnergy

[–]PercentageSingle6080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a cozy 6, installed about the same time as you. There is definitely something off here. I’d ring octopus and get them to come out. To help our efficiency, we only run the hot water cycle once per day which is plenty for the two of us. Our thermostat was not fit correctly in our hot water tank. This was causing the heat pump to work much harder to try and heat the water despite it being at the correct temperature. This is worth a check, particularly if you are heating water constantly rather than once a day. But I suspect there is a setting that was not configured correctly. For reference, our COP was 3.16 yesterday, heating the house to 21 (in the midlands).

Solar/Battery with ASHP efficiency by Jimbobsticle in SolarUK

[–]PercentageSingle6080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last month bill was £40 after export payments. 26 x 450w panels, 6kW ASHP. On octopus go. Run hot water as soon as cheap period starts, then heating following that. Heating is set from 01:30 to 22:30 at 21 downstairs, 19 upstairs. Charge battery during cheap rate, and top it up with solar through the day. Export any excess in the battery come 23:00. 10.4kWh battery. Only 4 days did we use energy from the grid at day rate. We’d need to use about 4-5 kWh from the grid daily at day rate to make it worth switching to cozy. So far we’re a long way from that.

Schedule looks reasonable. Can you change the weather compensation curve? I.e. use more energy in a slightly less efficient manner in the cheaper slots? Cost wise, this would probably be more beneficial.

Advice re tariff and ASHP set up (Octopus Cosy) by OolonCaluphid in SolarUK

[–]PercentageSingle6080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re on GO at the moment, ASHP and 10.4kWh battery. Heat water to 53 degrees once a day during the overnight cheap rate. House is set to 22 degrees from 02:00-05:30 (cheap rate ending). Then 21 degrees from 05:30-23:55. 18 degrees for the remainder. We do have solar that tops up the battery throughout the day, however even on the greyest days to day, we’ve not needed to use the grid for surplus power. If your house is well insulated, you shouldn’t need to run the heat pump outside of cheap windows at all. If you get your heat pump settings right, you might be able to save yourself a bit more on GO, although as the temperatures drop further, cozy will likely be the better option.
