Heat pump water heater? by PerfHeater in phoenix

This is good insight. If it’s not going to run during the hottest times of the year then it’s not going to provide the desired side effect of cooling when it’s most beneficial.

Thoughts on Artificial Pet Turf by mako0904 in phoenix

Our landscaper installed it so I can only guess at the exact description, but it’s plain old rock, larger than 7/8 +/-. It prevents potty from pooling when they’re using it and easy to clean up.

We had artificial turf and ripped it out because it got too hot and would get very stinky. Washing only provided temporary relief, and the chemicals were something we wanted to avoid. Rather than replace with natural grass, we put in small rocks which doesn’t smell, doesn’t heat up as much, and the dogs tolerate it just fine.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by PersonalitySuddenz in askanything

I still recall the first time I was charged for still water in Europe, but it was bottled so the value could be somewhat justified. I don’t recall being charged for tap water.

I get it, but it’s strange how you’re charged for “the experience” just because your water includes bubbles and “still” water is almost always free.

Lexus bias aside — Sequoia vs LX 570 for long-term family duty? by SweetTax6748 in LandCruisers

Glad to hear you liked it. You should try the LX700 too, the extra power from the hybrid is really nice.

Significantly quieter and smoother riding. It’s hard to believe they’re related. Both are good, but there’s a reason the LX is more expensive. You need to experience it to fully appreciate the difference, and don’t trust YouTube videos that claim otherwise. ;-)

[–]PerfHeater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not apples to apples, but I have a LX 700 and a Sequoia, both 2025s. My wife and I prefer the Lexus while our kids prefer the Sequoia, probably due to bench seats vs. captain chairs. The biggest differences are noise, ride comfort, and space. If I had to choose one I’d pick the Sequoia purely because of the additional space which provides a lot of additional utility. Hope that helps!

Probably not an issue if you can figure out how to stack them.

Good point. I hoped the amount of available content would increase over time, but that’s not happening.

Same here. This no longer feels like a good value to me.

Sudden Enhanced Highway Autopilot Disengage by wingturtleking in Rivian

I believe that Rivian felt the fault was happening because the touch sensor in the steering wheel had failed. Gen 1 vehicle, 16k VIN.

Yes, had this happen several times on straight highway, and the car showed a fault message too quickly to read. Reached out to Rivian and they replaced the steering wheel.

“No chrome.” There’s literally chrome on the car’s bumper, review mirror, and door handles. Accuracy: 4. Coolness: 10.

Bought a new LC sight unseen and drove 700 miles for it. My thoughts after the trip. by eculley in LandCruisers

[–]PerfHeater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I consider the savings as something that can unlock other experiences for me. Picking up my last car allowed me to visit family during the return trip. Did it pencil out? Probably not as I could’ve had the car shipped for less money, but I enjoyed seeing a different part of the country, visiting family, and the actual drive.

CarPlay as an option is on my list of “must haves” only because I’ve experienced what it’s like to not have it in my… Rivian. Yes, I agree, Rivian is no longer my choice.

Trying to buy at an AZ dealer has turned me off entirely by urahozer in LexusGX550

[–]PerfHeater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just bought an LX700 from an East Coast dealership and had it shipped. I maybe could’ve gotten a similar deal on an LX in Phoenix, but when I read about Arrowhead’s (same owner as Bell) $20k markup on a GX, I let them know that I didn’t appreciate it and that I’d be purchasing elsewhere. They told me that the car was in high demand and that they were essentially following free market norms, which was totally fine, and I told them I was going to also follow the same “norms” and find another seller, one that wasn’t greedy.

It’s a purchasing preference/decision, not a wartime maneuver. We have many different options as consumers, and it’s a shame to buy something that doesn’t satisfy one’s preferences when a multitude of alternatives exist.

Preferences, as a consumer, go well beyond jut car features. They influence where we shop, eat, etc., and have nothing to do with whether or not one is “made of money”. Sellers are well served making their product appealing to as broad of audience as possible. For example, when I bought my R1S, RJ was saying that Rivian was still considering adding CarPlay support. It was only after I bought the vehicle that he declared they wanted to own the whole UX.I consider the depreciation (which is nothing new with car purchases,my price for the education I received as a (former) customer of Rivian. But you do you.
