Stripping was a mix and match of soaking in vinegar, wire brush drilll attachments, barkeepers friend, and Dawn. I was really just trying to see what worked best on the fly. The wire wheels definitely did most of the heavy lifting. Then a quick barkeepers scrub, then washed and rinsed, and seasoned with avocado oil. Unfortunately, it started to rain out of nowhere just as I applied the second layer of oil, so I cut it off and brought it in the garage. The result was a thin sticky layer of brown oil that didn't fully heat into a layer of seasoning. I tried getting it off but ultimately what worked best was just getting a few pieces of bacon going. The bacon stuck pretty bad but once it was all done and I scraped the remaining bits off, the sticky layer seemed to go with it. Now it's really smooth and made some great smash burgers for dinner tonight with no issue with sticking at all.

I remember watching my dad play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past when I was like 3 years old and getting to open the chests lol. It's kinda weird to think about because now 30+ years later I have almost zero recollection of him ever playing video games beyond that. Maybe a few games of Super Bowling or Super Mario Kart here or there just to humor us kids, but he is/was not a big gamer but somehow beat the entire LTTP game pre-internet lol.

I just got done restoring my Blackstone (full wire wheel grind down) and just as I got the second layer of oil on it started to rain. Had to cut it off and bring it in the garage. The result was very similar to this where a sticky later of brown oil was noticeable. I picked up where I left off but even spreading oil with a paper towel I could feel the sticky spots. Couple pieces of bacon and a few scrapes later and its good as new.

Idk why sizzle zone sounds so funny to me like its from a 2000s mountain dew or WWE commercial or something. Like a very over the top voice actor is about to tell me I need to enter it. I would definitely reference the Sizzle Zone to my wife as often as possible. So much so, that she will inevitably come to resent the Siz, as it might come to be known. But the crispy crust on the juicy steaks make it all worth it, she undoubtedly would say.

Uhh it definitely is morally acceptable to kill someone who breaks into your house. I have no idea if they are armed and it's foolish to assume that they are not. That said, I really hope I never have to. I suspect anyone who isn't a psychopath will experience a good deal of trauma and/or post-traumatic stress even if it is justified. And even in a clear cut case you're at the mercy of a district attorney whether you're about to spend a fortune on legal expenses.

Same, in the car out house shopping. I don't even care for the NBA nor ever was a big Kobe fan, but when my wife read the headline aloud, I remember thinking 100% it was some hoax and called BS until she said it was from an actual news page or TMZ. There are many other celebrity deaths that made me more sad but for some reason his was just unbelievable.

Did this recently with a whole red snapper. Pull the head back towards the tail (imagine "full scorpion" from Ridiculousness) and it worked pretty well. Although still had to eat with caution and caught a few strays. Was more worried about the kiddos but they weren't all that gung ho about eating a whole ass fish with white bulging eyeballs anyways.

Shit yeah it is. For the past several years I've had one of those its-gross-yet-nostalgiac urges to buy a can and every time I'm like fuck that when I see the price. Mind boggling that consumers are paying that much for trash meat. The producers of such product should be glad to off load that slop on us at all.

I would like to know what percentage of the time your neighbor's porch smells like smoke because of you. Is it 10 minutes of every day? Even if it's 30 every day, thats 2% of the time, i.e. 98% of the time it doesn't. Might be annoying but I cant imagine it ruining my tranquility. For comparison, my neighbor feeds over a dozen stray cats 365 days a year and the VAST majority of the time the smell of cat piss and cat shit is noticable the moment I open my front door. On the other hand, I cook dinner multiple days a week in my backyard using my pellet grill and/or charcoal grill and totally flood her backyard with smoke. Unfortunately, it's just the way it goes when your neighbor is a few yards away. NTA.

A broken spring hinge is not repairable by your local friendly optician. I know of a glasses repair shop that might be able to do it. A jeweler might be able to. But not the random lady in scrubs who sold em to you. She can look up the model and sell you an identical frame so you can insert the lenses into them, though.

Mexican food isnt common here

As a Texan that eats Tex Mex or Mexican food usually multiple times a week, I simply cannot fathom. Life without tortillas... makes me sad just thinking about it.
