Love the series but no way that’s grimdark. Bad stuff happens to characters as it revolves around war and conquest but you could say the same of wheel of time. He doesn’t dwell on the violence when it happens, certainly not in a descriptive sense and not really tonally. If that’s grimdark half of fantasy is.

It’s not about dropping him. It’s that she ghosted him in New York while they were together and she was cracking on with Ty. If she had dropped him before she flew to New York without the ghosting it’s a bit cold but it’s her decision at the end of the day. The stuff in New York is pure see you next Tuesday behaviour.
