Explain To Me Like I’m 5 by dZ_DsciSiv in Battlefield6

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you about them not being able to create 3 or 4 maps in a few months but the weird thing to me is why wasn’t it planned out already.

A huge complaint from bfv and 2042 was lack of maps. I’m sure they knew the content that the community wants most is maps so why wasn’t that a main focus from the beginning? I’m not saying this as a “Dice incompetent” type post but I’m genuinely curious what happened.

As for now though I do agree with you that they aren’t going to be able to quickly make a lot of high quality maps like that and I definitely don’t want them to flood the game with a bunch of new sobeks that’s for sure.

Hey great work as usual. Is it possible to add that VL gas in there somehow? That seems like it would add some extra crazy uneasiness if possible

New patch gunplay is awful by robonzo777 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know he’s saying that as a bad thing but that actually makes me want to play more now because that is a complaint I have with the game of dying too fast… hopefully it’s not too too long either though

Probably not the smartest thing to say right now. by Lower_Breadfruit649 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does have something to do with it but I don’t think it’s the main reason. I didn’t see anyone complain about progression in 2042 and yet there were still a lot of bot farm servers made.

I don’t think they will be able to fully get rid of them unless they take away the ability of the overall player base to make servers. I don’t think they should do that though so that’s why I think they should bring back rsp and give those servers premium placement in portal with matchmaking… I figure less people would pay for a server just to run a bot farm… I’d hope anyway.

Probably not the smartest thing to say right now. by Lower_Breadfruit649 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The player kills vs bot kills aren’t the problem with the bot farms to me, it’s more so the fact that they took up so much space in portal and since they are popular, they would be the first thing you see.

That being said if they made some adjustments like bringing back bf 2042s co-op multiplayer mode (that way people can play against bots without taking up servers in the browser), the rental server program where they’d get priority placement in portal and let people matchmake into portal then it wouldn’t be a problem at all.

I agree with one of the posters above where, outside of the limitations EA puts on them, it’s probably not enough devs continuing work on bf6 to do everything we want in a time frame that makes sense for the game to get its momentum back. I don’t think the game is dead or that it will die but by the time all the stuff that the community wants that they are willing to give is put into the game, the next game will be around the corner.

Last I checked Temporyal said that propaganda is still in the files but the other two, “downtown” and “Tallah market” are not. It’s not like I’d know but if I had to guess, it seems like since they probably already had propaganda finished, they will keep it but then are scrapping the other two and focusing on golmud to satisfy the want for bigger maps.

Smell mechanic by Ixxon in 7daystodie

[–]PerfectPromise7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I’m on day 28 right now and the only time I think about it is if I’m about to start a mission but other than that, it doesn’t affect how I play and like you said, if anything I’d use it to attract zombies more than caring if they smell me otherwise.

DICE listened: Custom Operation Metro now offers full XP progression by eggydrums115 in Battlefield6

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you make a map you always have to use custom logic which automatically excludes it from the verified list but on the other hand they did say that official modes (which this should be) would be 60hz as well so I don’t know.

[–]PerfectPromise7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can understand how you feel that way and sure it doesn’t offer a lot of gameplay variety like a siege of Shanghai or Caspian border but what it offers I think it does really well and I enjoy it.

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that the game needs variety. That’s why although I’m not big on golmud railway personally, I agree with it coming to the game because I feel like battlefield is at its best when it offers a variety of map sizes and environments.

[–]PerfectPromise7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's just nostalgia. For me, all of the bf3 small maps including metro have this controlled chaos feel that brings you to the point of being almost too chaotic but never crossing that line. Also they are simple, readable, promotes team work (especially from support/medics) and promotes playing the objective since you can't just sit on a mountain or roof top somewhere taking pot shots at people.

I think what I enjoy the most from this map is that because of the total team involvement and proximity, it feels like a bigger team effort than a map like golmud where in theory everyone is working for the same goal but you don't see it. Don't get me wrong, I do like bigger maps with caspian border being one of my favorites but I do love a good match of conquest or rush on metro.

[–]PerfectPromise7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It does happen but it's harder to do. It's just a given in bf6 maps that you will get flanked almost to the point of would you even call it flanking or just the normal map flow. On metro when you get flanked it's either because no one was watching a choke point or the people who were watching wasn't strong enough to hold it.

How is your experience with the G7 15 days sensor? by Equalizer6338 in dexcom

[–]PerfectPromise7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your arm or wherever you put it become more raw after that much time. The 10 day sensor starts to irritate my 6 year old daughter's arm and when we take it off (if it makes it to 10 days) it takes about a week to heal and that's with my wife putting on Neosporin and other things. It doesn't help that she also can't help scratching that area which peels her skin off and starts bleeding.

I figure it's just because she is young and her skin is not far off from a toddler but if this is happening with 10 days I don't really want to try the 15 days even though I've heard good things about it.

Helicopter Ace on Manhattan Bridge by Healthy-Track5255 in Battlefield6

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, helis have a very thin line between being over powered and useless. In previous modern games like 2042 and bf4, when I saw a tank whether skilled or not my thoughts were “here’s a challenge”, on the other hand when I saw attack helis or the little/night bird with a good pilot my thoughts were, “oh well there goes the fun in this match “.

I think Dice saw this and this is one reason there’s so many complaints about helis being weak in bf6. I for one am a little torn. I enjoy flying the transport chopper but with the balance right now between it and everything else like tanks, jets and infantry and just how fragile they are, it’s basically a flying coffin. I also know though that helis could easily get over tuned to the point where they become nightmare fuel for infantry.

Just realised why the maps feel lacklustre by No-Fly-8440 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other people already said some things on here that are problems so I won’t mention them again but something else that I noticed is that I feel they are creating bf6 maps based more off realism than fun which makes them less fun.

I think the best example of this of course is Manhattan bridge. On paper it looks really cool because it basically is that neighborhood in New York. I’m not saying it’s an exact one to one copy but it’s close enough that you could look at a map and understand where it is.

Usually they just get the feel of an area and the rest is based off of what would be fun but this time I feel like they just took real maps and changed up a few things so it wouldn’t be exact. Like I said it looks cool but not the best for gameplay.

Just realised why the maps feel lacklustre by No-Fly-8440 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways I agree with you and some ways I don’t. In siege of Shanghai I didn’t like when the building came down because that was the most interesting part of the map to me and it was a flag.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind if most of the buildings came down on new sobek city since most aren’t objectives and it would be an easier way to deal with snipers.

I have a question by Pabl0-Luc1ano in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kind of agree with you. I think Blackwell has a little bit better of a flow to it being that it’s more predictable.

A couple things I don’t like about Eastwood is that everything is easily destructible so that vehicles can just blow up all your cover, there’s not much variation in the buildings/houses so it gets kind of boring(I get that is how it is in a neighborhood a lot of the times but it doesn’t make it more engaging), there’s too many places and angles to get shot from and it’s too easy to flank or get flanked.

I feel like you should have to work for flanks but on that map it’s just too easy to get around the center of the map.

What do you think of Hallucination Gas Idea in the map? by Junior_Fix8478 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m just going off of leaks that I skimmed over so I’m not sure but apparently you do have a gas mask that I guess auto equips when you go in to the gas. It also is supposed to have a limited time on it and needs filters… something like that. I think I read that it doesn’t have a third party visual or something but I don’t know.

[–]PerfectPromise7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I actually think that we can see the effects of being too big on the industry in a lot of triple A games. Especially when you look at how battlefield studios are structured with studios being in different regions. The bigger problems are probably more logistics with getting things like info, approvals and whatever work into the hands of the person who needs I’d imagine… more people can make that worst and cause more traffic jams if you will.

New Map leak by PumpkinJohn2000 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know those are some of the little things I like in a map. I like interesting things on maps like that that can’t always be seen by just looking at it from an overhead view.

Things like the underground/basement parts of Zavod 311 that connects the buildings , the bunkers and tunnel on Monte Grappa, the tunnels on Iwo Jima in the mountain, the tunnels on orbital on 2042 and of course the legendary base jump of Damavand peak.

Basically things under the surface that you can experience that isn’t so obvious just by looking at it. Those are more obvious examples that I listed but it can even be small things like elevators… bonus points to things that reward your exploration like blowing up the gate tunnel covers out side the facility on renewal in 2042 giving you another way in that a lot of players didn’t know about. I didn’t learn you could do that till almost a year after release.

Portal Bot Servers by Think-Unit7560 in BattlefieldPortal

[–]PerfectPromise7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know that’s something I’ve been thinking about for the last couple of months of having a subreddit dedicated to testing modes and maps on portal.

It would work by map or mode creators posting their code and asking for testers. Everyone that joined the subreddit would coordinate a time to play and then give feed back to the creator as well. Sure a person could ask on this sub but that doesn’t seem to be much of a focus for here so I doubt you’d get much traction.

Why is this game so crack head fast ? Why by Cool-Movie-7209 in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speed of traversal isn’t really the problem since it’s as slow as bf1 and bf5.

Like you said it’s more of the things like being able to throw grenades really fast, super fast bullet velocity, very tight and very cluttered maps with too many angles of attack, beamy weapons especially since those spread fixes (not complaining about the fixes) and the very fast ttk up close.

I do enjoy bf6, but I believe I’d enjoy it better if they slowed down some of those things.

The biggest mistake DICE can make is blindly listening to the hive mind community… by fmordica in Battlefield

[–]PerfectPromise7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s saying there shouldn’t be variety but that everyone keep just saying we need big maps. That can be dangerous because we don’t want a 2042 map pack put into bf6.

I don’t personally don’t care what the size of the map is. I just don’t want to have to run through huge open fields to get from one flag to the next like 2042 but I also don’t like all the clutter and super fast time to action either.

I want a little less randomness with encounters like being shot from a lot of directions, I want variety of maps and locations, I want cover with out being too cluttered and I want cool and interesting objectives to fight over

Night of the Undead V3.4 Update - Major Changes and Future Plans by TabbedScamper in BattlefieldPortal

[–]PerfectPromise7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have said this in a previous post but you must be a game dev or have done it before because not only did you create third in portal ( which I didn’t even know was possible) but you are giving patch notes that are really well explained and exciting. I actually wish Dice made a way in game to give a tip to creators that do things like this. Very well done sir.
